That last bit was heartbreaking, though very realistic as a reaction on the part of a child.

I like this story. The plot is so different from canon, but still you keep the characters so wonderfully canon-like. Also, they feel natural. They behave "believably" as stupid as it sounds, it is quite rare in fanfictions. I like this story. Sorry for short reviews I keep leaving, I am usually reading on my cell-phone and writing on it is so boring (lazy me). Mila

I discovered the story just today and loved it. I like how the characters have shaped up in this scenario.
About this particular ch, I did not dislike Lily at all. I can understand her point of view pretty well just like I ca understand Snape's. I suppose the one caught in this cross fire is Harry.
I am looking forward to reading this story more.

Man, do I love how you've written Sirius... :) It's so refreshing to read a story on this site that doesn't bash Sirius. Again, loving the realistic nature of everything... the argument between Lily and Severus... Draco refusing to speak to Severus after he got in trouble... (By the way... it's also refreshing to read a story where the corporal punishment isn't under- or overplayed, written with an apologetic tone, etc. It just IS. And it's a part of the realism that I love.)
Keep up the great work. I'm loving this.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I think it's hard for a lot of people because obviously we're all Snape fans and it was pretty clear in the books that the Marauders were pretty horrible to him. For some reason people seem to think they have to cause strife between Sirius and Harry in order to foster the relationship between Severus and Harry. I don't think that is so. I wanted to write a just slightly more mature Sirius who loves his godson and wants what is best for him. My goal was to write a realistic story which isn't too much hate-on-Harry or too fluffy. Just real. I'm glad to hear that I am succeeding in that. Although it has made a lot of people object to Lily and her parenting but I am of the personal opinion that one can love their child and make a lot of mistakes. I don't think I've written her as being abusive or even neglectful. I think if Severus was to ever lay hands on Harry or do anything else that she would deem unforgivable, she would leave him. It's a complex situation. It's easy to say that she should leave someone who doesn't love her son as much as she does. It's a harder thing for a real person to actually do especially when the conflict isn't visibly hurting her son. She isn't fully aware of the emotional toll it has had on Harry. Sometimes parents miss those things. Anyway, /rant. Hehe. Also, good to know the corporal punishment is written well. This is my first story dealing with that issue. I agree that a lot of stories tend to focus too much on that aspect of the story and/or overuse it every time the child misbehaves.

I hope that Lily and Severus can work things out. It just all seems so complicated.
