Cool! I literally had to go to the library & look up the painting on the internet to see what Snape and Harry were seeing. The story made so much more sense when I could visualize what you were describing. And the word "uncertainty" in their mutual context is a brilliant interpretation! Also liked your description of Dumbledore's eyes and how they could be interpreted from both sides! Great job, Con! :-)

    Author's Response:

Aw coming from you shadow, that means a lot! Of course, I don't know what the inspiration was for this particular painting, but it struck a chord with me (and it seems it did for Harry and Severus too haha). I guess everyone feels "uncertain" after they have gone through ordeals such as what Harry and Severus suffered, which somehow links them in a way... I don't know, that's how I interpreted it ;D

thanks again for the review, I'm so glad you enjoyed!

That was rather nice and unusual. It helped when I Googled the painting, so as a bonus I'm slightly better educated now.(I probably knew about as much about Pollock as Harry appeared to!)

    Author's Response:

Aw thank you! I admit, I don't really know much about Pollock myself, but I do quite like the painting :)

    thanks again!

Very interesting. And good choice of painting. Jackson Pollack's stuff is the definition of confusing at times.

Author's Response: Haha thank you! I wanted to choose a piece of art that could have conveyed a different message to different people.

That was a very enjoyable piece of writing! Well done. I almost died with excitement when I realized just what painting they were staring at! I got the chance to go see it too (I sat in front of it for ten minutes at least), when my band class went to New York a few years ago. This was quite the adventure, seeing as all of us are from Saskatchewan. It's an incredible piece to see in n person, and I understand exactly what Snape and Harry meant, for the depth in the painting conveys so many meanings.
I thought he story flowed quite nicely, and I was impressed how natural the situation seemed. It did not feel absurd in the least despite the odd location and meeting.

    Author's Response:

Aw thanks heaps! I've actually never seen the painting in real life before, but as it resides in the National Gallery of Australia, I've read about how much money was spent on it and if it was actually worth or not. It's pleasing to know that since then, attitudes towards abstract art have improved a lot.

Thanks again for your lovely review!

A beautiful story. I love Jackson's paintings and you did a great job of bringing not only them, but Harry;s life into focus. A very unique idea.

Author's Response: Thank you very much! I've had this idea for a while but I never actually tried bringing it to life.
