Wicked story. Must the right balance of change in attitude and staying the same for Sev.

    Great job!

Author's Response: Oh, yes! That's always a tricky thing! I try to focus on how much of himself Snape would be willing to reveal, given the specific circumstances. In this case, since he was planning to "go on", he unbent a bit more than usual in interacting with Harry. But Snape is Snape, after all, and some things will never change! Thank you so much for reviewing! Much appreciated! :-)

    A beautiful tribute indeed.

Author's Response: Thank you for saying so! I'd wanted so badly to do something for the people who lost loved ones, and writing what I was feeling helped me deal with my sense of helplessness since the bombing. While those specific individuals may not read stories on P&S, the message is universal, and it may help others both now and in the future. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review!

I'm crying from happiness, this is really great, I to mourned over the Boston marathon bombing, and saw those balloons you're talking about! This is great I love it!!!!

Author's Response: Wow! Thank you for the compliment! And it's amazing to me that someone else actually saw the same balloons the day of the marathon! No matter how many times TV news replayed the footage, I never heard anyone comment about the irony of the balloons rising cheerfully above the human devastation at street level. I don't know if someone happened to be holding the balloons at the moment of the blast, or if they'd been fastened to something and broke free. But I simply couldn't shake that image, and I finally decided to incorporate it the way I perceived it-- yellow balloons carrying the victims' spirits aloft. Thank you so much for reviewing! :-)

    that was beautifully written

Author's Response: Many thanks! When I started writing, I knew the ending and what I wanted to convey as Snape's advice to Harry, but the writing process itself proved to be a little voyage of discovery! Thanks so much for reviewing!

Aww that was so touching shadow! Very poignant and extremely beautiful :) I've missed reading your stories and this was perfect. Super awesome work!

Author's Response: Sorry for the gap between stories-- it was an endless winter and my house was too cold to write!!! And just as spring gets underway, darkness descends upon Boston... This story was quite unexpected-- I got the idea about 10:30pm Tuesday & finished the first draft at 3:30am Wednesday. Finished revising/editing Thursday afternoon & sent it to P&S. I kept hoping all the time I was writing that I could do justice to the hearts and souls of all affected. Many thanks for your review! Much appreciated!

Very touching story. When Harry couldn't believe that the day could be sunny and beautiful, it resonated with me. Sept. 11 was a beautiful sunny day, too. I've also thought that it is harder for those left behind, trying to carry on than those who have gone on. Just musings but you hit on them so well in your story.

Author's Response: Everything seemed to come together for this story. I kept trying to keep the balance between real emotion and fictional story from leaning too heavily in either direction-- kind of tricky, given the real-life tragedy we'd all witnessed. But in the end, I wanted a message that would be uplifting, ... and then there was Snape! Many thanks for reviewing! And glad you enjoyed the story!

Beautiful story. Very well written and you did a nice job of balancing canon character traits with your own ingenuity. I hope you continue to write more stories.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I always try to bring something original to each of my stories, using canon as my springboard. ;-D I hadn't intended to write after the bombing, but I kept pondering those three yellow balloons -- was someone holding them at the moment of the explosion? And the fact that they rose unscathed into the sky... There had to be a reason... And so I decided to write. I appreciate your taking the time to leave a review! (And hey-- I have 15 other stories on P&S!)

Aww that was so well written Shadow. I love it! I needed to read something sweet after this awful week. Wonderful job!

Author's Response: And thanks again! I felt the need to do something... Anything... And when this idea grabbed me, I knew I had to write it. I don't know if any of the real-life survivors in Boston will ever read it, but the sentiments are meant for anyone who has ever suffered through grief and loss. I hope the message can offer a ray of light. Thanks for your review! :-)

    Very nice!

Author's Response: Thanks! I have to admit, I hoped people wouldn't think it was a bit over the top to have Snape depart as he did! But I could see it so clearly in my mind's eye... Many thanks for your review! ;-)
