I don't usually review stories, since I usually feel awkward about it, but I'll try.
I love this story and every chapter in it. To me the characters are very well written and with a lot of depth. I can undeestand why Ian acts the way he does and I love seeing him change bit by bit even without Severus' input. I really like stories, where Severus isn't the only one needing convincing, but usually the sibling or potential sibling is harder to convince and needs some strong prodding from Severus to accept Harry, so this is a nice change, especially since Severus has far more things to get over (his history with James, Harry's exploits in school, preconceived notions etc.) whereas the child can approach Harry mostly unbiased. It makes your story very believable and easy to empathize with. I like Harry's and Snape's portrayal, too, though I'd love to rip Severus' head of sometimes and screwed it back on correctly. It is just another proof for your awesome writing though, since it really feels very relateable.
I also enjoy the pacing of the writing. The story never feels rushed or like everything is happening too close together and oddly convenient. I often feel that writers don't give their characters enough time to deal with their emotions and the story feels forced, but you have managed to make the characters seem like a puzzle that is carefully being assembled with some tiles clicking quite easily, while others need more care and patience and a good eye.
I stumbled across your story by accident through the challenge and am quite glad about it.

Hey, I finished reading this story last night and I slept on it, pondering what I wanted to write in this review, and then this morning I couldn't resist going right back to the beginning. It has been a while since I read such a well-written and interesting story. I understand that you are not a native speaker of English, but it doesn't hinder the story at all. Your language and grammar are mostly correct and colourful. There are many stories ruined by sloppy grammar, but yours is not one of them. I enjoy your writing style very much, the pacing of the events is very well-done and the balance of angst is just right. About the story itself, Snape was so deliciously atrocious at the beginning that I really wanted to smack him! There's this bit where he thinks that he'd never allow a child of his feel unwanted while at the same time he's doing exactly that to Harry. I cannot even imagine the emotional strain Harry is under throughout this story, dreadful! The very slow pace of Snape's heart thawing is very believable, many years of active hatred cannot be overcome in one day as often happens in fanfiction. My favourite scenes off the top of my head: accidental magic in Snape's quarters, the grounding, Ian and Harry studying together, Ian's impersonation of Dudley is good, too, although I can't say I liked the behaviour, Snape boggart and Lupin's reaction. I don't think there were many bits I object to, I think, except that the story hasn't been updated for so long. That fact is heart-wrenching.

I'm quite sad I've reached the end of the story. I do hope you are able to find a little time to write something even if it's short. I'd love to see more!

I just had to stop and review now to tell you how much I love this story so far. I was looking for a good long story to read and this has been great. I was a little apprehensive about starting it since its been a while since you updated but I'm glad I am reading it after all. This is my favorite type of story - the kind where my stomach clenches as I read about Harry and what's going to happen next. Where I can practically feel the emotions he is going through. It's so well written and detailed I can imagine it all perfectly and find myself getting lost in the story. I'm very much looking forward to reading more I just felt compelled to stop and review! Thank you very much for sharing your story and I can't wait to read more!!
