hmm Dumbledore has gotten through Severus think skull. Lets hope Harry will take the given chance to continue to learn and not blow it.

I like how you have Severus fighting with in himself about the conflicting emotions he has about Harry. Great beginning
Sounds lie a feud between Severus and Umbridge is brewing. Wouldn't take much to get the other teachers into the revolt. Iliked the scene between Jack and Harry and the fact that Snape saw it. Hopefully it will be the start of him viewing Harry differently.
So Harry had a breakthrough in Occlumency. One would think Snape would be at least mildly pleased at some success. Harry's latest detention sounds ominous. Detention with Umbridge never ends well for the student.
Interesting first chapter. I liked the notion that Severus used Muggle objects like Outlet Mall as his passwords. Having Albus appear in his coffee table must have been a shock.

I'm loving this story and can't wait to see where you are going with it. I love that you plan on keeping the characters true.
I hope that Snape does get to know Harry's home life better and that you do have him eventually adopt Harry.
The relationship between them doesn't have to be mushy, I prefer Snape 'not' be too uncharacteristically soft, but they can still learn to understand and respect each other, if that's the way you decide to go.
