Okay-- I'm intrigued: What's in the mysterious box? (Reminds me of "The Village"...) Seriously, tho', the story is off to a good start, although I already get a sense of darkness lurking just around the corner. Great relationship between Snape and Harry, but it will be interesting to see how Harry adjusts to life as a Gryffindor, way up in the tower as opposed to a Slytherin in the dungeon. (Am wondering if Harry had hoped to be a Slytherin in order to be closer to Snape's quarters while at school.)

Author's Response: Howdy, Shadow! Thanks for reviewing, especially on a past chapter! I am glad that you are intrigued! Hmm ... I haven't really heard of The Village ... but perhaps I must check it out. I think Harry has mixed feelings about being sorted into Gryffindor, as any kid would. One one hand, he could have been Slytherin with his father as the Head of House - similar to home, and on the other, be in Gryffindor and enjoy the freedom from time to time. Cheers!

    Great job Whitetail.

Very intriguing story and I am anxious to see where you go with it.

I am curious to see what happened to Snape to make him have nightmares and be so anxious.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Yeah, I can't wait to start posting the real guts and gravy of the story, once it gets into the past a little. Cheers!

I´m very glad you decided to post the story. It makes a nice change from all the other variations on "Snape is Harry´s father". Plus, I love AUs and this one is particularly intrigueing. I´ll be impatiently waiting for more :)

Author's Response: Thank you so much for reviewing! I am very glad that this story is interesting to you. More shall come next week!

Hi Whitetail! -- First and foremost thank you for posting this story! Even with the preliminary info (this line in particular: ”So I became a soldier in my mind, throwing an imaginary character I knew and cared for into the place I could never go. I explored it. I lived it, I breathed it for months. I dreamt it. I had to see why ...”) and the first chapter you’ve given me so much more than words… you have no idea. Apart from actual, personal military experiences, I think most of us have inner battles and writing and/or reading can be an excellent way of healing ourselves – or others that are willing to be helped. Besides, delving deep into a wounded hero’s psyche is the most intriguing topic I can imagine.

As for the story itself: I really like the initial set up, the brief glimpse into the summer life at Spinner’s End (a special thanks for Eileen Prince) and the reminiscences of a troubled past. Even at this early stage the story feels real. Oh, and making Severus the narrator, thus allowing your readers to learn his innermost thoughts directly from the most credible source was a brilliant idea!

Keep up the good work, I’ll definitely keep coming back! :) -- Ann

Author's Response: Oh wow, thank you Annora! I am so glad you are liking it, and my little bit of additional info too. And yes, the wounded hero's psyche is fascinating - I have a bit of an obsession with that actually. Haha, and you are welcome for Eileen. She's fun! I just wish I could incorperate her more than just every so often. I am also pleased you liked Severus being the narrator. I felt he needed to be, and in first person like that.  CAnd more shall come for you to read as long as you wish to follow along! ;)

Severus seems to have one bad case of PTSD and I don't mean the mean version of Post-Traumatic Snape Disorder. That was just harsh.
Severus really should have told Harry before the train ride.

Author's Response: Yes, he does. That was years ago, and it has gotten a bit better, but not completely. But yes, he sure should have told Harry before! Thanks for reviewing!

So far you got me hooked. I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with the Falklands War since it's not something I ever saw in History Class, that is easily remedied with research though. I love the direction this is taking. Though I have never been a soldier or anything remotely close I can somewhat understand in how you understood what your friend told you... I have been bullied badly all my life. Please I really like your stories so keep it up!!!!

Author's Response: Hey SeverusPrince101 - thanks so much for your review! I knew almost nothing about the Falklands war until I started this project either. I had to do a ton of research, but it was very interesting. Some of the first hand accounts ... wow. I am really pleased to hear you like where this is going, and yes, somehow being bullied can be a little bit like a small-scale war, and it hurts in so many similar was I think, which clearly you've had experience with too. *sighs* Anyway, Hope you continue to enjoy it, and thanks for your support! Cheers! ;)
