Reviews For For Valour
Author's Response: I am so glad you liked it! Thank you very much for taking the time to review. Yes, I did research like crazy! I still think I could have done more, but there really is not a lot on the actual details of the Falklands. Most history books it seems just skim over the basics - but luckily I was able to find a few newspaper articles with first hand accounts, to supplement the facts. It is good to know that it feels believable, as that was something that has been so hard to do. Thanks again for the kind words! ;)
I think all the thoughts and feelings you depicted were perfectly sensible coming from a man who had recently lost his wife. So was the fact that Harry seemed to be absolutely excluded from his mind. I’d gladly write more, really, but I’m afraid I’m left speechless… Author's Response: Howdy Annora! I am very glad you enjoyed the chapter, and felt that the emotions were accurate. Just knowing that you're speechless says enough. :) Thank you for reviewing!
Author's Response: Wow, I am so glad it really resonated with you. Thanks so much for reviewing cara-tanaka!
I'm impressed that a Hufflepuff, Miss Crandall, jumped on Draco first. It seems that Hufflepuffs like Severus. I wonder if you will have something in the next chapters refuting Draco and his father's opinions of Severus. I look forward to seeing where you take this. I bet that the story of how Severus got his medal is as bad or even worse than the story of how he was sent to war in the first place. Author's Response: I am glad you are impressed with a Hufflepuff's daring. But is it just her house that approves of Severus ... or was there more to it? Something to think on. Severus' medal story is coming up, so you will definitely find out soon if your hypothesis is right. Thanks so much for the review! It is great to hear your thoughts, opinions, and wonderings.
Also noticed a bit of a literary symmetry between Severus finding the photo album and Harry finding his dad’s merit badge earlier. I don’t know if it was intended or not, but I think it’s pretty great. I also hope you’ll unfold Miss Crandall’s story a bit more. Oh, and one more small thing I like: Salazar’s remarks, as they’re both entertaining and meaningful. Author's Response: Hey Annora! It is so great to hear that you enjoyed it. The scene with Severus and the photo album was meant to be slightly similar to Harry's discovery, so it is nice to know you liked it. Oh Salazar! He's been so fun to toss in from time to time - good to hear he's appreciated! As for Miss Crandall, she will show up again. Cheers!
Author's Response: Hmm, that is the question ... Thanks for reviewing.
Author's Response: Good to hear!
Author's Response: Hi rosina! I am glad that I've gotten your brain engaged. I totally agree with you, how easy it is to forget just what an impact war has had on generations and the lives we live today, and what impact war still has on the world. I am glad you are pleased with my attempt at depicting war. I soemtimes feel I could have made it a lot more horrific and gruesome, but no matter what, words on a page can only ever be a shadow of what it would be like. So I went more for the way it made Severus feel and think rather than purely what he saw. Haha, I do the same when I'm reading something I enjoy, so I'm glad this chapter made you speed read! Cheers, and thanks for reviewing!
Author's Response: Hi! It is wonderful to hear that you are enjoying the story, and the little part with Harry at the end! Thanks so much for the kind words and feedback. :) Cheers.
