This was so suspenseful and creative! What a fascinating end for a bereft creature of darkness. The mirror’s intended use as a therapeutic tool was brilliant. Thanks for the riveting, intriguing, and thoroughly imaginative Halloween story!
Author's Response: I was on a roll the year that I wrote this! I felt an urge to do something rather grim and grisly for Halloween -- and once my imagination took off... Watch out! Interesting that you focused on one of my toughest issues: WHY was that mirror invented in the first place? (And, of course, that begs the questions: Why and how does that old witch have the mirror in the second place? Well, I don't have to answer ALL of my own questions!) Thanks for that shadow, that was an extremely enjoyable read! everything made sense in the end and as always, I love the way you write your stories :) even though I didn't read this at Halloween I still felt the mysterious nature of it heehee :D well done shadow this was great!

Halloween seems to inspire me, for some reason. :-) (I am totally into black cats-- have my fourth black kitty, this one named Shadow, after the cat in Keina's story, "The Last Gift", tho' mine is female. When I saw the homeless kitten abandoned by the dumpsters, I planned to name him Severus, but then discovered he was a she!) Author's Response: Many thanks! I'm not really sure why I thought of the mirror in the first place, except originally it was a way for Harry to communicate with Lily. But when I began to wonder what Voldemort would do if he looked into it... Oh YES! Now I had a genuine horror story to play with! Thank you for reading and reviewing! :-)

Very inventive way of getting rid of Voldemort - for a bit anyway. Did some small part of him recognise that his soul is damned? I've been looking forward to your Halloween story and it didn't disappoint. I loved the plot, loved the descriptive bits, and loved the way you wrote the characters.
Author's Response: When I first got the inspiration for the mirror, I'd just focused on Harry seeing Lily. But then my mind went off on a weird tangent-- if eyes are the windows to the soul, what would Voldemort see if he looked at the tiny fragment of soul which is all he has left after making all the Horcruxes? Oh boy! Now I had the basis for a creepy chapter for a Halloween story! I really don't know if V comprehended the meaning of the fire, but I doubt it would change his basic character if he did. As long as he's already damned... he'd rise again. Probably be doubly grateful for the Horcruxes!!! Glad you enjoyed it, and many thanks for the reviews! Happy Halloween! :-)

This was an amazing story. I guess in Harry's looking in the mirror, he desperately wants to know his mother and that need comes through. To honestly see yourself can be very scary.
You did a fantastic job.

And you really hit the nail on the head-- I think most people would be horrified to truly see themselves as they really are, and for far less reason than Voldemort!
