Awesome! So glad I read it, I loved it! Amazing description, interesting plot, Voldemort getting his comeuppance. Well done!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! When I think back to the stories I wrote when I began posting on P&S just over four years ago, I can see how far I've come as a writer. Descriptive narrative was harder to write back then (I just wanted to plunge straight into the action!), and it means a lot to me that a reader would compliment me on my description today! It's coming more easily now, but I still work hard on doing a good job. So glad you enjoyed my story, and many thanks for taking the time to review! :-)

    wow!

Great story Shadowienne. Just wondering why Dumbles won't answer Harry's questions.

I would love if this were continued. It has some great possibilities!

Author's Response: Pan, I was trying to preserve the canon timeline for HBP, where Dumbledore did not introduce Harry to the concept of Horcruxes until after Christmas of Sixth Year. Prior to that, Dumbledore kept traveling, tracking down clues, evidence, and collecting memories to substantiate his belief that Voldemort had created multiple Horcruxes. His research kept him busy until he was ready to present the idea to Harry in its entirety, and even so, the memory from Slughorn proved crucial, and Harry did not obtain it from Slughorn until after Christmas. So, in my story, Dumbledore is still in the process of gathering information, and therefore he puts off Harry's inquisitiveness on Halloween. Hope that helps! Thanks for reading and reviewing! :-)

So Voldemort wasn't able to face his own reflection. Interesting thought. The little descriptive touches, like the cricket and the sound of the sea, really helped set the scene. I liked the way you depicted Voldemort. His mocking taunts to Harry and then his crazed anger seemed very in character. Thanks for a nice Halloween tale.

Author's Response: Aww-- thank you for noticing and mentioning the cricket. My cat, Cricket, died around the beginning of September (age 13). When I began writing this story a month later, I wanted to acknowledge her passing, thus the solitary cricket in this chapter. I tried to word it as if she were saying farewell... As for Voldemort, essentially the mirror shows him everything he already knows about himself-- the gruesome toddler image is based on the flapping thing under the bench in the otherworld King's Cross station in TDH, which represents the 1/128 of V's soul, which is all he has left after making 6 deliberate Horcruxes & 1 accidental! He is truly evil & twisted inside, and is doomed to burn when he finally does die. V knows all this, but doesn't want to acknowledge it, like all baddies who think they're justified in their actions and therefore not as bad as they really are. Duh! Thanks for reading, and for your reviews! Glad you enjoyed it! :-)
