I thought maybe Severus would tell Harry a bit of his own nightmare when Harry asked if Severus ever talked to someone about them. It might have helped Harry to trust Snape if he knew they had something in common.
Severus has his work cut out for him. At least he got Harry to sleep on the couch.
I wonder if Harry will feel more reassured now that he knows that Severus is a teacher? Hopefully, Sev brewed lots of calming draughts. One comment, you have used the term shutter several times. I believe the word you want is shudder.
Harry has quite a surprise when he wakes up. His injuries are healed and he is in a strange place. He couldn't ask for better guardians than Severus and Minerva but it may take him a while to realize that.
Great first chapter! I admit, I never wondered what Minerva thought when she realized that Harry hadn't answered his Hogwarts letter. She didn't want Albus to let him there and must have wondered about it. Severus has been far more patient than I would have imagined. Will he hear Harry in his cupboard? Looking forward to finding out.
