Good! I think you are doing a pretty good job keeping Snape in charicter. I can't stand that out of charicter Snape where he finds out harry is abused and all of the sudden starts snuggling him. -_- Snape is not the snuggling type, he doesn't hug people every five seconds like some people write him. Well I'm off on a rant lol. I enjoyed how you wrote dumbledor when he visited the Durslys. He acted just like he did in the half blood prince. Well done! Ps, I would not say your writting is mediocre. You obviously put a lot of thought into this story and have some talent. :D
Author's Response: Thank you! I try to keep my characters as IC as possible, so this is a compliment. Writing Snape doesn't require any effort-I just can't bear him to be any other way but like himself. The fact that you think I am not mediocre makes my heart lift <3

I've been enjoying this story and quite agree with you that Snape bashing is overdone. I think Snape is dealing with much real pain and many impositions laid upon him. He needs to be treated as a victim as much as Harry does. He has been used by both sides of the war and never allowed to heal. Besides, you are the author of your story and may write it as you see fit. I know I will continue to read it.

I really enjoy your writing style. You write Harry's character realistically--he responds to Snape's meanness just as any 11 year old would. I don't always understand why people are so bothered by a "mean" Snape. Snape was not a nice man. He was not warm and fluffy, and he wouldn't suddenly be nice to Harry just because he found out that Harry was mistreated by his relatives. In Snape's mind, he probably think he's doing Harry some good, disciplining him when he deserves it. Is swatting Harry the best course of action? Probably not... But, again, this isn't Dumbledore taking care of Harry. This is Snape. I can't stand it when Snape is written out of character, so thank you for not doing that.
Keep going, please! You seem to have gut instinct when it comes to good writing, and your style is refreshing :)

I can stomach a mean Snape. I enjoy stories where he redeems himself and somehow Harry eventually forgives him in the end. Even if Snape's actions aren't on the same level as what the Dursleys did to Harry, they ARE abusive and are not helpful. In this chapter he forced his way into an emotionally abused child's mind! Harry never consented to that Legilimens! Snape has a very long way to go before his actions will be considered "better" in my mind.
