Awesome, awesome! I adored this chapter! I love all the magical theory and this advanced stuff we get to see now that Harry is older. So creative and original! I feel that this stuff is what was missing from the later Harry Potter books. They hardly seemed to do more advanced things than the first couple of years and the adults did not seem to have an incomprehensible greater grasp on magic. Great job bringing the advanced magic in entertaining and believable ways. I love your Snape and how he softens and compliments Harry, without really looking his temper and general irrascibleness. I love your Harry, he is so in character. Thanks for a terrific story and a great chapter update!

    Author's Response:

I guess I am fond of theorising... I was a bit worried that people would find it boring when I first posted my story, but now I have received positive comments about it from a few people and I am glad that you like it as well! It would be nice to make out, the scientific way, how magic works, but I suppose it is a hopeless task ;-)

I enjoyed Harry and Ginny site seeing tour of Paris. Paris at night in the cemetery was especially mesmerizing. The ghouls and the story of the widower were a special magical touch to the chapter. One comment - you wrote that he 'grabbed the woman by her waste.' You want to use waist.

    Author's Response:

Oh bother! That was an embarrassing mistake. The computer will not highlight it and I obviously was blind when proof-reading, not really having the intuition of the language. Thank you for helping out!

My friend who is beta-reading my text unfortunately has a lot to do at work, so I have chosen to post ahead, as I don’t want to drag it out (you lose the pace of the story when the updates are months apart and my friend is only at chapter 11…). I take pains to review the chapters one by one as thoroughly as possible before posting. I’m afraid there are more mistakes - prepositions, for example, that’s enough to give you a headache… I’m doing my best, though, and learning a lot in the process. If you want to read a better version of this story you might try to reread it in twelve months or so and the language will probably have improved :-)

Loved Snape's reaction. Interesting the "magic" on the dance floor. Not good that hours later they haven't reported in. Please update again soon!

Author's Response: Thanks! The events in Paris will be unravelled soon, but there will be further complications... I'll be updating in a few days :-)

I wasn't surprised that Snape blew up about Harry's trip or the battle in the club. I would have thought that the British would have contacted the French Ministry of Magic though.

    Author's Response:

No, I suppose his reaction was expected. Wasn't it a bit cute, though, that his first thought was that Harry and Ginny had eloped to Paris...?

Maybe I was not very clear about it, but they did contact the French Ministry of Magic. The Aurors' Office is part of the British Ministry of Magic and Mrs Steadfast's secretary, Ophelia, contacted the Security Office in Paris, without much sucess, however.

:-) Of course a writer must indulge in one's fancies. That's the entire point of writing isn't it? Us readers are a secondary concern I would think.

    Can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Thanks! Although I do care about you readers as well, naturally. Otherwise I would not publish the story, but keep it to myself... Sometimes what I picture in my head and write down is not at all what the readers perceive and react to and that is very valuable for me to know in order to become a better writer.

I don't object at all to taking a chapter to explore Paris! I loved how Harry and Ginny debated whether this or that could be magical or just Muggle, and all the things they explored added to the feeling of quiet wonder and youthful dreaming of this chapter. I was enchanted with the graveyard and the Stone-Faced Widower-- that was a fantastic story within a story. This had something of the feeling of the first Harry Potter book, the first time Harry went to Diagon Alley and all the things that were just wonderfully different and unexpected. Paris with its ancient magic felt alive with secrets.

I also appreciated a little more insight into their relationship. I like that as you've written them they're not totally compatible; Harry is somewhat shy and wishes for anonymity, whereas Ginny loves the spotlight and longs to be seen. But they work together and even when they argue a bit about their worldview it's clear they still adore and respect each other.

And now we know the fate of the Auror who was trailing them for Mrs Steady. Everything happened too suddenly for anyone to activate the watches Steady gave them. I wonder how the attacker knew to target the Auror? I sense more revelations coming...

    Excellent as always!

Author's Response: Thank you for appreciating this chapter as I so wish to do Paris justice - it is a magical city! I'm glad that you liked the story of the Stone-Faced Widower, too!
