Lovely chapter, I liked the fact that he went with Hermione not Ron, nothing against the Weasleys but nice for a change to get to know hermione’s background. Thank you for updating
Author's Response: Thank you! I feel like the Grangers don't get enough time in the book. Rowling apparently thinks dentists are boring, but I think it is good for Harry to meet a muggle family who isn't at all like the Dursleys. Harry can explain away the Weasleys being so much nicer to him with his celebrity status or their magic, but the Dursleys have zero excuses for not being more like the Grangers.
I’m loving this. Harry hardly ever gets to spend time with Hermione’s family in most fanfics. Great original twist! Funny that Hermione’s parents trust her so much as to let her share a room with a boy. Haha but it IS Hermione after all. I bet Snape is on the boat. Dumbledore would never let Harry be away from magical protection for long. Or maybe this is Snape’s ideas? I can’t wait to find out. Thanks for the update!
Author's Response: Exactly, she's Hermione. She's so sensible her parents sometimes wish she got up to more mischief, because when Harry first meets her, she's a bit like a small adult, which her parents feel just isn't healthy. (They don't know she set a teacher on fire in her first year and brewed an illegal potion in second, of course.)
I suppose some parents of sensible daughters might distrust the boy in this scenario, but Harry is a sweet and polite child (rather moreso than Ron) and the Grangers know perfectly well that, since Hermione trusts him, she's likely been alone with him at some point in time, anyway.
Snape has a completely unrelated reason to be on the boat, which will be revealed in the next chapter. But it's well possible he decided to keep an eye on Harry while he's there.
