Just to let you know, I absolutely love this story. You have come up with an amazing original story context and while it is heartbreaking, it also is wonderful! Can't wait to read more.
Really! The mirror gives him what he wants. Taking anything, especially something he doesn't know of while dying in the real world is absolutely a terrible idea!

Lovely chapter, I’d love to know the back story of how Severus became friends with the Potters in this universe. Thank you for updating
Author's Response: Hmm, it would be interesting... but my answer would be all wobbly and mirror-twisted, because they're not actually friends with this Snape. Their Snape lives in a world where the Potters never died, so he is different...
I suppose probably what happened is that they all grew up a bit and then one day Lily was walking through Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley or London and she met Snape. It was awkward and they didn't know what to say to each other, but then one of them made a really awful joke trying to break the silence, and then the other told them that was awful, how could you? And they talked a bit more from there. Maybe they met coincidentally again a few times, then Lily mentioned an interesting article that she was editing (She works for Potions Today), and Snape said it must be wrong, there was no way those ingredients could work together in that combination, so they started arguing and decided they'd try to brew the thing to prove it one way or another.
And brewing in Lily's lab means that James comes in wanting to know if she'd bought the carrots (she hadn't, was too busy arguing with Snape) and does a double-take at how Snape is in the room. He opens and closes his mouth a few times then walks out. But in a few minutes he walks back in, asks about the carrots, and then goes away to buy them himself since he needs them for dinner.
Okay I went on a bit there you got me thinking but I think that is probably how it would go. :)

Great chapter! I’m very curious about that little side conversation and am trying to imagine what he would even say to her. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a sweet ending to this story!
