Yay! Yay ending! :D i'm glad that it all worked out. I loved the picture perfect scene at the end. With this story done, does that mean that we'll get new stories from you? I hope so!

Author's Response: :) I was glad to see it work out too! I'm happy that you enjoyed it.  If I can work around school and work I may be able to work on the other HP fics I started a while ago. hehe, we'll see.

Yay! New chapter! I've missed this story. I liked how Harry didn't want to take the pain medication. I liked how muddled his thinking was, both before and during and afterwards. I want hot chocolate. Nice chapter! :)

P.S. Did you know that you can use horizontal rules (the lines) here?

Author's Response: :) I'm glad that you liked it! hehe... to be honest I didn't know you could use rules on this site... eh, maybe this weekend on my day off I will fix things. I dunno, I'll probably forget, lol. I'm just happy that the story is finished and that I still like it when I read through it. :D

...and yet in this chapter, it seems like Severus has gone more than a little over the top. Up until this chapter, where we switched to Snape's POV, I had been pretty certain that what Snape was waiting for was cooperation, which is only understandable - that Snape isn't willing to care for someone who is in general surly and basically refuses to allow Snape to aid them.

Then you came out with the line where you say that even if Harry asks, Snape isn't certain whether he will help him or not. That doesn't really seem consistent with everything else that's gone on. If Snape isn't willing to give help to an incredibly ill child who asks him for it, he's worthless as a human being and suddenly unpredictable as a character. Now, instead of Harry coming to the realization that Snape is a responsible adult who will care for him no matter how foolishly he acts, we have the dynamic that Harry must somehow *win* Severus's affection - and that Severus's affection is quite possibly conditional.

Hmm, I wonder: Veritaserum? Or just a relaxant?

Author's Response: It's not veritaserum... just something Snape has that loosens one's inhibitions. :)

"It would only be a matter of seconds before he was shoved away into some tiny space intended for soup cans and jarred peach preserves." You seem to have a talent for these lines that provoke both laughter and some other, darker emotion all at once. That's a very wry, amusing tone of voice, but poor Harry truly believes that Snape will stuff him in a cupboard - and really has no reason not to believe so.

(While you, me, and the rest of the world's Snape fans are perfectly certain of his inherent goodness, Harry is not.)

    Nice job. :)

This is a v. good line: "Apparently your relatives seem to lack conviction. Laziness runs in the family does it not?” I didn't know whether to laugh aloud or punch Snape's lights out. Maybe one, followed directly by the other?

You're managing to keep Snape inscrutable, which is all to the good. ;)

Hmm. The first chapter seemed way over the top - mostly because the Dursleys abusing Harry has never sat well with me. However, your assertions that this is the first summer where it had happened made me click that 'next' button.

This chapter is much better. You don't have Snape sweeping to Harry's rescue and immediately changing his opinion of Harry, which is what most do. And that is making me hit the 'next' button again. :)

This was a great story from beginning to end. So glad you could finish it! You did a good job with the characterizations too.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm happy that you enjoyed the fic! Thanks for reading my stuff! :D

It's good that Snape is smart enough to realise when something isn't working. Dumbledore's insistence that "it can't be that bad with Harry's family" has always maddened me...
    Thanks for a satisfying ending.
