About me:

Hello and thank you for visiting my author’s page! Here are a few tidbits about me and my writing:

I dabbled in fanfiction once upon a time and then a half-adventurous, half-disastrous decade happened, full of international moves, Master’s programs, health issues, family growth, and a general abandonment of most of my hobbies. I am in the process of putting the fun back into my life, and that includes reading and writing fanfiction again. I’m so excited to finish the story I started long ago and then to maybe work on some new ideas!

I am a Ravenclaw with a soft spot for all houses. I write with an outline but scenes and subplots often come out of left field and make it to the page before I’ve realized my head was thinking of them. It’s fun that way. Feel free to tell me what you do and don't like about my stories, as well as what you would like to see. It won't always change my plan, but sometimes I draw inspiration from reviews. :)

I love Harry Potter, but alas, I am not British. I will do my best to avoid American slang (feel free to let me know if I fail), but please know that all spelling and grammar will be American style. There’s only so much I can do.

I don’t read or write stories with slash or explicit sexual content. Personal preference. So if you’re reading my stories, no need to ask; they will not contain slash or sex scenes.

I am a sucker for family stories (especially parent/child, mentor/teen, or brotherly relationships)…probably why I have a special place in my heart for stories starring Harry Potter & Severus Snape. Bring on the father/son/teacher/mentor fluff! :)

Reviews by Kirby Lane

When Harry appears at the Welcoming Feast wearing a glamor only Snape notices, Snape decides to find out what the glamor is hiding. His investigation leads to a number of shocking revelations---both about The Boy Who Lived, and about Snape's understanding of himself. Sixth year AU.

Hello! I've read your story, but I like it...so I'm going back to review because I've recently figured out as a new fanfic author that it's the polite and fun thing to do! ;)

It took me a bit to get used to the present tense in your writing since it's not the most common, but you keep it consistent, and it really works well. Good job!

I also had to comment that I loved this part:

"The boy's head jerks up from over his cauldron, and his eyes meet Snape's, wary and a little fearful.

Despite the fact that the first sixth year Potions class of the term is nearly over and no one in it has provided Snape a single excuse to take points from Gryffindor, the boy's look is enough to fill him with a warm, satisfied glow."

Hehe! I love that - fearful student eyes being Snape's key to happiness! Right on!

    Author's Response:

THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY. Because I love "O Mine Enemy" so very very much, any approval from you is immensely valued.

And I'm glad you liked that line, I keep putting things into the story that make me laugh and I have to wonder if I have the world's strangest sense of humor or if anyone else is laughing with me...:)

Aw! Snapey! I love his inward struggles in this chapter - how he doesn't quite care, but he doesn't quite not care... And the last line was especially good: "a Harry Potter who suddenly reminds Snape much more of himself at his own age than he ever believed possible."

"I know what a car is, Potter, I am a wizard, not a troglodyte." LOL!

Poor Harry, dealing with a promise-breaking Snape. Now mind, I understand why he called the headmaster, but I'm so mad at him for promising he wouldn't when he knew all along he would! Bad Snape! Bad Snape!

Bet you thought I forgot about you, didn't you? :) I had to take a break from reading to finish my own chapter...but now I've got to get caught up so I can read your sequel! Aaaa!

Anyway, I really loved this chapter - everyone was so great. I loved how gentle, yet furious Dumbledore was at the same time. And how snape-like Snape was, though you could see his concern. Well done!

I love how Dumbledore reacts to the "suggestion" that Snape stay with Harry at the Dursleys. :) This was a fun chapter to read. On to the next!

Love it, love it! Everyone is so wonderful in this chapter - very in character. Poor Vernon...if I didn't dislike him so much, I'd feel kind of sorry for him. Heck, I'm a Muggle and even I know better than to try to chum up to Snape!

Aw, Snape! How sweet are you! I love how he prefaces his little speech by telling Harry that if he tells anyone else what Snape says, he will call him a liar. hehe :)

I do hope Harry is okay...but seeing as how there's a sequel... :)

    Dear Branwyn,

I am compelled to convey my appreciation of your story and to relate that your compendious prose has convinced me of your exceptional proficiency in the art of storytelling. :)

So therefore, I am sharing with you...CHOCOLATE! By the pound! For YOU!!!! Because I LOVE that reviews are like chocolate, don't you?!?! :) :)

Good chapter - I loved the letter! It was so incredibly great how Snape could be so clever and insulting and caring and insufferably smart all at once. :) I can't wait to see what Harry comes up with... (Dare i admit that I stole a glance at the next story already? But I haven't read more than the first couple paragraphs because I forced myself to come back and finish this last chapter first, even though I desperately want to know what happens!)

    So here I go... :)

    Author's Response:

    *huge idiotic grin*

You absolutely make my day, you know that?

Harry is 7 years old and treated literally like a dog by the Dursleys. Will he be rescued by the wizarding world? Will he ever be fit to take on the mantle of The Boy Who Lived? Now Complete!

I love it so far! You do a wonderful job of making Harry's predicament and emotions seem real. I can't wait to find out what happens...
