At Lily's request, Albus Dumbledore has kept a secret from Severus Snape for 17 years. When Dumbledore learns that this secret plays a vital role in the war, however, it is Snape who is left to deal with the consequences. As Harry's true parentage is revealed, both his and Snape's futures become uncertain. The two must learn to work together in order to survive. PreHBP.

Um... Your math is a bit off, though... 34x2=64, not 60 (Harry's) + 14 (Ron's), which = 74... I sure hope Madam Malkin didn't cheat the kids out of 10 Galleons! Author's Response: Lol, good call. I really do know how to do math, I promise! Thanks for pointing this out; I've fixed it now.
As for the rest of your review, thank you so much. I'm really pleased that you think I've done a good job with the characters--that almost matters more to me than plot at times, just because really, I find the relationships and interactions much more important and enjoyable. Hope you continue to read and enjoy, ~Gonnabefamous
Author's Response: Lol, I'm glad you didn't find anything lacking when I left those out. As for the "Sight", it's not so much that... but that's explained a bit more in future chapters. Thanks so much for the review! ~Gonnabefamous
I can't help but be sad that in all this time, Snape hadn't gained maturity enough to see that even if it had been true, Lily had come to him, sad and remorseful - and all he had done was kick her out. I can easily understand his rage and hurt initially, but with time, one would have thought he would have gained some perspective - after all, he has made some egregious errors, and has been allowed to make up for them - for him to hold so tightly for so long to his anger, and then take it out on a child - well, that is just to very sad. Truly. Has he never really learned?
Author's Response: Dumbledore is quite wise, and yes, both parties have good points. One can't really expect Severus to just know how to be a Father to Harry. He has not had much of an example to follow, and all of his past experiences with children has been interacting with students. He doesn't think he is wrong because he is a creature of habit and he's always been a harsh teacher; he's got to grow into his role as a Father, but that's hard to do when Harry is nearing adulthood. He will have to figure out how to be a mentor, rather than a guardian, soon. Thank you for reading and reviewing, I hope you enjoy the next update :) When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.
Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story. Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH. Author's Response: I'm a little late in responding (I've been out of town), but I had to send you a special thank-you, xikum! YOU ARE MY 100TH REVIEWER!!!! Thank you for liking my fic. And yes, there will be more soon. It has been a while since my last update due to being out of town and helping my friend with her wedding, etc. The chapter's written (my longest yet!), but I have quite a few revisions to make.
Good to see Severus showing a bit of his heart. That last chapter ended in such a way as to make one think Severus was acting awfully childish, let alone petty, given that Harry was actually acting more mature than he was, for a bit. One has to wonder, now that Severus is seeing the error of his beliefs, if this epiphany will now allow him to be the one to be able to see what Harry needs, and give him that support and guidance. Harry really hasn't had any adult he can trust that way, one wonders if Severus understands that now, as much as I wonder of Harry can learn to give that trust, or if he will keep that mind-set he has been forced to develop in order to survive - the one that he is resonsible for himself, that there is no one to go to. That would be awfully hard to break; it's the one that drove me nuts in canon - hopefully the wish to have someone he could go to, will be strong enough to allow him to develop such trust. In many ways, Harry is more mature than other students his own age. Yet, he really does sound a bit ADHD in his inability to focus for even 10 seconds, even if it is on something he really doesn't particularly like. But then, he's also been traumatized, and is in the process of dealing with a lot of changes and pressure, which can cause similar state of mind - for a while at least. Author's Response: Ooh, I'm going to have to be careful of keeping my emotional sections too long - I don't want you to run out of air!!! I'm glad you still enjoyed it... ;) I'm in the middle of writing the next chapter...and it's funny that you mention trust... :) I do see that about Harry: he really isn't used to having anybody to rely on (other than his friends, of course). I think he would have a hard time completely trusting any adult at this point, especially someone like Snape. I kinda like how he has a hard time focusing...it makes him more of a teenager in need of guidance. (Especially a teenager with a lot of things bumping around in his head that he'd prefer to avoid thinking about.) But still...I'll try to tell him to work on the ADHD. ;) When Harry appears at the Welcoming Feast wearing a glamor only Snape notices, Snape decides to find out what the glamor is hiding. His investigation leads to a number of shocking revelations---both about The Boy Who Lived, and about Snape's understanding of himself. Sixth year AU.
