I've read to this point before, lost trackof it, and now have read it again.
    This is a brilliant fic.
Imust, however, admit that I Hope the Reason Dumbledore brought Severus, is that while he will be 'civil' and appropriate, he can trust Severus Not to be so... and has thus, brought him along with full intent for extreme prejudice towards the Dursleys.

This was a very satisfying ending to the story, as long as I know there is a sequel in the works - otherwise, I would be sad to see it is ended. To be honest, I would love one that followed Harry all the way to adulthood... with Snape as his friend/mentor/protector. Slash or father-figure, either way it goes, this was a wonderful fic in its own right!

Harry has a tougher time than anyone thought. Not only is he caught up in the war between light and dark, but the on going battle between the realms of magic and science as well. What can a young boy and a tetchy Potions Master do to help one another? And what is said Potion Masters fathers’ role in this?

Now, that just opens up a can of worms, doesn't it? So, it was not Snape's memory, given the surprise. Was it something Harry had repressed, from his mental encounters of Voldie? I always wondered about the dreams he had that were actually visions, how he seemed to forget them, or decide not to tell anyone about them...

    Author's Response:

There is a definate reason why Harry can't remember.

    Well actually there are two at the minute. . .  But as soon as I figure out which one it is I'll let you know! ^^;

This is getting interesting. Harry has been raised in incredible abusive neglect - he has not faith or trust when it comes down to it, in adult / authority, and no wonder, given his relatives! Yes, he has had some positive experiences more recently, but it really is a case of too little, too late. I have always wondered how DUmbledore could have left Harry with the Dursleys.

    Author's Response:

    Hmm. . .

I won't write the comment I was gonna for fear of giving the plot away but, . . .

^^ I think 'neglect' would have been better in Harry's case this time round.

Hmm. Now I have to wonder: Did Harry's relatives hire him out to some kind of experimental lab, in exchange for money? They obviously don't care for him, and would allow things to be done to a child that no decent person would, and there are labs that look to do questionable research... And then, a bit seems to be again reflecting on Voldie & DE's. But the end of the chapter - Not a dream? Hmm. More soon?

    Author's Response:

*Laughs heartily*  You're set on working this out before I write it aren't you? ^^  Well done you.  But I won't say whether you're right or not just yet O_~

There are two more chapters written that I shall be posting soon. xX

This was great! I truly wish that you would write a longer novel - the continuation of what all happened in the aftermath of this, and the building of their relationship.
The one part that still bothers me is the same that bothers Harry - Dumbledore seems a bit off, and I question his placement as Harry's guardian/master to whom Harry is apprenticed. After all, once he knew the Dursleys had abused Harry, how could he even think to object to Snape telling him that Harry would not be allowed to return there? What 'there' should there be to return to, as they should be in jail and the young cousin and his gang, in separate juvenile jails, for the evil actions they had done! - How could Dumbledore even consider returning Harry there?! Aaarrrg! I am very glad that you had Harry safely ensconsed with his father and new 'family' - that was an interesting bonding of Ron & Hermions as his siblings! There is so very much here - an incredibly rich combination of plotlines that fit very well together, and you have their characters so well described, as well as realistic dialogue - simply excellent work!

    Author's Response:

Unfortunately, I'm already writing one.  As of today, my Severus-adopts-Harry story stands at 65,009 words, and will probably hit 100,000 before I'm finished.

One of the things that needs to be considered with Dumbledore is his age.  Child abuse has only been recognized for the past thirty years or so, and Dumbledore is 150+ years old.  It's not that he doesn't care, it's just that he has the engrained attitude that child abuse is rare and can't happen to people he knows.  When he was growing up, it was considered 'just dicipline' and acceptable.  It was a hidden, dirty little secret in families.  We're all products of our upbringing, and Dumbledore is no different.

So many FF authors disregard the importance of the trio, both as a unit, and to Harry.  I wanted to recognize that for once.  Harry needs Ron and Hermione, just as much as they need him.

Thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

The summer after 5th year, Death Eaters find Harry abandoned in the Dursley house and bring him to Voldemort. Will one particular Death Eater give up his position and his hate to save his enemy's child? Eventual Snape mentors Harry fic.

Thank the gods for that - Severus helped Harry rid the DL from his mind. Now, maybe, they can start to have a more positive relationship?!

Author's Response: Yep!  Positive as the Dickens.  It will be easier for a time, for the two of them, but difficult times still lie ahead . . .  Thanks for the review!

You GO!! Harry!! It is sad that it was Lupin, when it Really Needed to be Dumbledore to get that blast, but hey, I have to say, that was awfully appropirate and cathartic, especially for a boy his age!!

    Absotively-lutely an awesome chapter!!

This is wonderful! I like the dynamics you have developed between Harry & Snape. This is a mature, positive, very appropriate relationship, from the mentor POV. It is unique in itself, but I think, turning out to be every bit as good as another, quite famous (& justly so!!) adoptive father Severus story.

Amazing what it took, for Albus to finally realize... nothing short of having it forced into him. He really seems to have lost touch with his humanity - and it looks like this made him re-evaluate - seems he had fallen prey to believing in his own infallibility - now he knows better. Sigh. I do hope that Severus does not punish Harry for this? He really needs patience and help, not pressure or punishment for something even he did not know would happen... seems that reference to Ariana is entirely appropriate!!
