An interesting new development with the DADA teacher. I find the idea of an illness that drains magic an interesting possibility - after all, if it is possible to lose eyesight, or hearing, or mobility as a result of a disease, then why not magic? And I can definately see how it would have some pretty significant psychological issues inherent in it. An interesting idea, and one with a lot of potential in terms of character development.
I really liked the scene where Snape didn't show up on time, as well. I found his parental side very amusing, and liked how you explored Harry's lingering insecurities and his initial fear and flashbacks. I find it very much in keeping with the typical emotional progression of abuse victims - steady progress, but occasional regressions. Recovery doesn't happen all at once - it's a long, slow proccess, and there are obstacles and setbacks.
Author's Response: I am really glad that you have liked the story thus far! Thank you for the wonderful review!! I wanted to make Harry's recovering as realisitc as I most possibly could. lol. I've dealt with what he's going through personally so I think writing this story is more about getting out how I feel than anything else. lol. And other fans get to benefit. ;) How cool is that. Anyway, I am loving how Snape has just grown into this parental figure. Not that he doesn't have his moments where he is TOTALLY out of depth, but the man is amazing. I am having a blast writing about these two! Glad that you enjoyed it so far!!

Very interesting chapter. My favorite part was definately the opening line, "The lawn of 4 Privet Drive is at once a marvel of geometric precision and an offense against nature, in Snape's opinion." I can just *see* Snape thinking that, sneer in place. Excellent job with the characterization.

Excellent job with the portrayal of Snape. I love how you showed just a glimpse of humanity, and yet kept him completely in character. I found it very believable, and yet touching at the same time. I'm very impressed!

Interesting chapter. I really liked the potions metaphor. How very Snape-ish! Doesn't surprise me at all that he understands his whole world through potions.
