Slytherin!
Harry Potter, 10 years old, finds out that he isn't a Potter, and that he has a brother still living! And his brother happens to be Severus Snape. After the reading of Eileen Prince's will, Severus takes Harry in. And after spending the summer living with his newly-found brother, being educated in the wizarding ways, and meeting new people, Harry slowly starts fitting in and having a normal life.
How long will it stay normal, though? After all, despite him being known to Hogwarts and the rest of the world as Silas Prince, he still is Harry Potter, and it is only so long that he is able to stay out of trouble.

- Good Chapter! I can't wait to see what you've got planned for the rest of the story. Are the dreams that Harry's having with Lilly, James, and Voldermort or are you creating a new plot line with different dreams. Either way, it'll be interesting.
I wonder what's going to happen with the ghost-James... I hope that you explain why he's there, what he is (as he is no ordinary ghost), and what it all means.
I'm also really glad that Silas and Severus are getting along so well. It's sweet how Severus protects and cares for him in his own way...like just feeling like he needs to check up on Silas...even though he dosen't really admit it to himself.
I hope you also explain the reference to Silas in the play, unless it was a reference to Harry Potter? I really don't know, but am waiting expectantly for the next chapter! Write, write, write!!

Thanks for the review! The reference in the play was actually that they mentioned "Professor Snape's little brother", and Silas doesn't like attention. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll have to make it more clear when I go back over the chapter.
Ghost James will be coming up . . . along with explanations. These chapters have been laying down information for the big events that take place over his 7 years of school, so everything will be explained. I glad you like it so far! I'll get up a chapter as soon as I can.

- Interesting story you've created, here! I started reading just a little while...ok, not such a little while...ago and couldn't stop! It's really a nice new spin you've taken on the Snape taking in young Harry. I really like it! You've done a pretty good job of keeping everyone in character, but I realize it's probably not high on your list of things to do-and that's ok, because your story is better with the changes you've made to. So, I guess I'm trying to say that your characters are really believable in the situations you present them with. I was a tad worried what would happen to Harry in the first few chapters when Snape constantly neglected and refused to be concerned with him. But, all is well in Spinner's End and there's even some other magic-knowing folk around! I'm still unsure what Severus is going to do about Harry during the school term but can't wait to see what you come up with! So, update soon!! Also, are you planning on writing subsequent stories for each year until Harry attends Hogwarts or is this just a summer story? Because, if you can continue to create plot lines as you have so far, you should definatly write them down and post it here so we can read them too!! UPDATE!! *please*
Severitus, post 4th year. Just your generic Harry is abused, woe is the boy who lived, until it is discovered that Severus Snape is his father. And then things get really hectic. Obviously AU with the release of HBP. Very light DM/BZ slash in later chapters.

- Little does Severus know that a mind-blowing, earth-shattering event is going to happen! In the next chapter, I'll hazard a guess!
Really great story so far!! I must say that I don't shy away form violence and abuse of characters in these fanfictions, but your description of the torture Harry went through was "a mind-blowing, earth-shattering event" for me. And that's good! I like gory and I think you handled that chapter exceptionally well.
I just hope that for Severus that once he sees a broken Harry that he dosen't completly loose all characterization that makes him Severus and become a ball of fluff and love. That's all well and good, but he has to mean it. And Harry as well, he can't suddenly accept Snape as his father just because he was the one to save him and nurse him back to health. He has to go through the transformation and conflict of gaining Snape's trust and giving his own.
I'm very interested to see what Dumbledore's role in all of this will be and have no doubt that it will be less than awesome!
Can't wait for the next chapter!!

- I love Snape's last line in this chapter! This is such an interesting twist to J.K.'s story, and it's brilliant. Keep updating because I have only a few ideas as to what's going to happen and want to see if I'm right! I also like how you seem to be keeping the plot from Sorcerer's Stone within your story-I've missed that in a lot of fanfics. Update soon!

- Awww, I love your rendition of Snape and how this Christmas was so...awkward for him. It was great! Keep updating, I can't wait to read more. One question, are you going to include important cannon events and reletively follow the same plot at the original story? Then, are you going to continue through the entire series or change it and go off on your own plot line? I was really surprised to find that I like this fanfic-most with Harry young arn't that great, but yours is amazing!!

Thank you so much! I started this fic with first year Harry because it was my first fic in the fandom and I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull off a reconciliation between the two after years of negativity. Plus there were some actions I want for Harry that are far more natural to an 11 year old than a 15 or 16 year old.
I do intend on roughly following the plot of the first book. The search for Flammel and the Stone will play a background part. But only a background.
As for what happens after first year -- if there's enough interest I'll likely continue.

- Aww! It's good that Harry's getting some real promises now from Severus. Hopefully Harry's able to control his accidental magic in the future and get his voice back. I can't wait to read what happens after he does. Good job with Severus, though. I really liked his characterization in this chapter, especially with him drawing from his own childhood for ideas as how to deal with Harry. Hopefully everything gets better for the both of them from now on. Can't wait for the next chapter!

- No! Severus don't ruin the relationship you've formed with Harry! (Although he shouldn't have cast that incendio...) But, I trust you'll keep Severus in line!
Great chapter! I loved everything about this one, really! It was great to see how Harry was feeling, why he didn't want to talk. And then to see Severus recognise that it's not Harry's fault, but practically everyone elses and to understand that is just great!
I also loved that Slytherin cunning of Severus' coming out in potions class. Along with that, the irony of the potion was heartwarming, because Severus knew that Harry knew the answers to the questions he was asking.
I just hope that Harry is able to heal, and that Severus will just get on with it and adopt Harry already! (I guess I can wait for a more opportune time for the announcement to be made.) But, keep writing! I want to know what happens next and what Severus has in mind for Harry!! Write, write, write!!

Severus reacted perfectly in my opinion. I was surprised and more than a little pleased with his "lesson". It was great thinking on his (well, your) part to take Harry to St. Mungo's. I'm pretty sure Harry won't play with incendio again! Severus' punishment was also fitting, as Harry wouldn't know the damaging effects of other spells and it would be quite tedious and impractical to travel to St. Mungo's for each incident that would be bound to occur if he didn't learn now.
I absolutly adore fics that can evoke an emotional responce from me (which, considering, isn't really THAT hard) and you've done it again! I just love the dynamic you've created between Harry and Severus, and am only sad that Ron and Hermione don't understand their relationship. Hopefully that will change, when SEVEURS ADOPTS HARRY!! But, I suppose that will come when they're ready, say, at the end of the year so Harry dosen't have to return to the Dursleys...huh? huh?
I really hope that you reveal to us what Harry's sign is for Severus, although I have an idea... Also, hopefully we'll get some insight into Snape's mind for what he has planned for the future. I'm excited! Please update as soon as you can!

Thank you for such kind words and for such a lovely, detailed review! I thought it was a rather fitting lesson, as kids at that age (and older, really) don't have any real sense of their mortality. Harry learns this lesson rather early compared to other kids, as Voldemort is after him, but at this point in the story he's not aware of that yet, so I thought it would be appropriate.
Hermione and Ron do, in their own way, understand where Harry's coming from. As best they can, anyway. They've always had loving parents, though, so they'll never *quite* see it the same way. Plus they aren't there to see soft and mushy!Snape. They don't object to it, they just don't understand.
Harry's sign for snape will indeed be revealed (although I think it will be a surprise to no one, lol). As for the future...well, Snape and Harry are both used to survival mode. They haven't quite given themselves the luxury of planning for the future. Yet.

This update was very soothing and it was great for Harry to have insight into his life, for Ron and Hermoine to understand Snape and Harry's relationship a little better, and for Snape to see how much he means to Harry. I'm really excited to see how different Snape acts towards Harry in the next chapter, as well as seeing the whole not speaking thing addressed...as you said, next chapter. I'll hold you to it!
