Slytherin!
After Harry is caught for exploding a cauldron in 2nd year Potions, Snape insists he keep a firm hand on the boy he must secretly protect. However, he discoveres that there is more to the twelve year old than unruliness and disrespect. Similarly, Harry learns from and gains a new perspective of his professor.

- Woot! Great chapter! Can't wait to see what you've got waiting for us in the next one.
I liked how everything played out here. I guess it was just a little too intense for Snape to be so sudden with seriousness at Harry's exclimation of "it's got pictures!" But, that also could be explained by his demeanor, Snape is just cautious...being a double-agent and all kinda does that to you. So, maybe I was just as freaked as Harry, which is good!
I do love how Snape is able to interrigate Harry without making it excruciatingly painfull for either of them. It always seems right for Harry to open up to Snape and when he does he feels better about it, knowing that someone knows. At least he's now got Severus looking out for him.
Hmmm...really interested in that book, though. I wonder if it's going to show up again somewhere...
Well, I'm certainly looking forward to Ron's disgusted (and hilarious at that) exclimations about his detention. And wonder how Harry's going to take the barage of questions that are sure to come. OOh! And CHESS!! YAY!

- Great chapter! I really liked the Harry/Snape interactions that occured here, they were great! Although, Snape dosen't realize that Harry IS excersising control over something, if not his emotions...he somehow refrained to practise the spells in the defense book that Snape gave him.
I really liked the scene between Hermione and Harry as well, but wished that Harry had perhaps been able to explain a little more about his experience with Snape during his last detention...but alas, embaressment is a strong emotion to overcome.
But, hug for Mr. Snape for dealing with both Potter and Malfoy, I think it was extremely in character! Yay for soap in the mouth! I've never had the displeasure of that happening to me, but I can imagine how much it sucks! At least Harry's learned his lesson.
Speaking of LESSONS...*squeals in excitement* I can't wait for the next chapter! This Defense Lesson is going to be great! YAY!
And YaY for Chess!! I love chess!

Thanks for the great review! I'm currently trying to force myself to get my butt in gear and open up a Word doc. and work on Chapter 14 of this story. I'm only letting myself sit and listen to music for the next 27 minutes, so you won't have to wait long for the next chapter :)
There's no way Malfoy would have gotten away with tormenting Harry...not now. And yeah, I haven't had soap in my mouth either, so I had to majorly use my imagination for that part. Knowing my twelve-year-old potty-mouthed self, I probably should have...lol.
As for the trio interaction, there will be a bit more in the next chapter...as for explanations...well...how DO you explain a situation like that thoroughly without dying of embarassement? Don't worry, though, Harry will figure it out.
I actually can't play chess to save my life, but Ron sure is jolly good at it ;)

- Great update! I really enjoyed this chapter, chucked-full of Snape and Harry!! And it was completely in character, too. Amazing job.
I was very proud of Snape too, for being so patient with Harry. It was great to see him trying so hard. I'm very pleased to see their relationship progress, it's coming along nicely. And of course, it's great for both of them! Snape gets to indulge in his almost non existent parental nature and Harry has someone looking out for him and thus has expectations to meet and rules to follow.
I was very pleased with how the whole scene played out, it was very well written! But I wonder, is Harry going to go back to Myrtle's bathroom and see Mrs. Norris and the writing on the wall? Or, are you not going cannon? Either way, it'll be interesting with Snape and Harry's new realationship to test them.
I'm looking forward to the agnst of Ron coming to terms with Snape's not-so-terribly-mean-ness. It should definatly be interesting and I can't wait!!

Keeping them in character, especially Snape, is harder than it seems. lol. I really appreciate your comment about that ;) The subtleness of their growing relationship is something that I work with carefully. I think for Snape, even in canon, to be able to protect a child without question, regardless of the reason, requires some sort of parental instinct. I suppose it's just flourishing in this story...lol
I won't be following everything that happens in book 2, but Myrtle's bathroom will reappear, just in my own way, I suppose ;) Ron will be in the next chapter! Hmmm...wonder how he'll react...

- Great update! Happy Birthday Harry, indeed! I'm so glad that it all worked out in the end, especially with the Dursleys showing up. Harry handled himself well, as did Nick. He's really a great guy...and perhaps there's more to him than meets the eye, eh? That would certainly explain his acceptance of Harry's abilities. Hopefully nothing comes of him not telling Cathy, though. Well, update! Me want Snape!

- I must tell you I was a little wary of reading this fic at first, but I'm certainly glad I did!! And thus have no problem in askin, pleading with you to update soon!!
I have only become so attached to Harry and Severus in a few stories and now I need to add this one to the list. Every chapter, every new paragraph, my heart broke or swelled. You truly have a gift! Please, please update!
I also really like your new take on the same old sevitus fics. It certainly is a masterpiece. I also like that everyone hasn't abandoned Harry as Hermione and Neville are friendly towards him. It's interesting to learn that Narcissa and Lily were so close though and I can't wait to see what you've got hidden up your sleeve.
Severus being Draco's godfather worries me a little. But I think that Severus would be able to reform him if for whatever reason, Severus becomes his legal guardian. I do wonder what Narcissa said to him that put him in such a foul mood too. So, update for that too!
Really, really great story though! I can't wait to read the next chapter!

I absolutly love the incredible back story that you've created here, it's fantastic! There's so much going on, and only a little being divulged at a time, it's going to take a while til Severus understands it all (and thus, us too). But that's ok, I'm in this for the long haul.
I really do adore the story that you've created, though. I'm attempting to come up with some ideas for my own fic and you've inspired me to break out of the common Severus is Harry's dad shell. You certainly have, and it's fantastic! I just hope that we get some more of that dynamic in the next chapter. Severus and Harry both seem really eager to become a family and I can't wait to see their relationship grow.
So, how many secrets is Draco holding? Hmmm...it makes me wonder what else he could know if Narcissa told him that Severus was Harry's father. So, I hope we also get some more of him in this next chapter! Along with that, was Narcissa in the same type of predicament that Lily was? (Being forced to marry Lucius against her own wishes?) But then, if she's a Seer, it would make sense that she would sacrifice her own happiness for the future she'd Seen. Hope to get more young Severus, Lily, and Narcissa. I wonder if James and Lucius were secretly friends in the past...you know, it would almost make sense, ok, not!
Really can't wait! Your plot line moves right along and I'm excited to see where you take us next!
