About me:

Hi, everyone.  I'm a long-time HP fan, but new to reading and writing HP fanfics.  Of course Harry and Severus are favorites, but I really like almost all the characters.

I'm a preschool teacher, and happily married with two children who also love HP.  Other things to know about me?  Hmm, I love horseback riding, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.  I love coming to talk with other fans on the internet, and I love reading fanfics.

All Harry wanted was a few happy memories of his parents, yet, when he fails in the attempt, it might very well cost his life. 2010 Challenge Fest Entry. In answer to the Potions Poisoning Challenge by Jan_AQ.

I liked how you brought Draco into the story and showed that the rivalry between the two isn't truly mean-spirited. I hope that Draco can be redeemed, or at least that his respect for Severus will keep him from joining Voldemort.

Harry had another close call! Well, more than one actually. Poor kid, seems like things are getting worse for him. Time may be running out. I hope Severus can come up with that anti-dote soon.

Wow, what an exciting chapter! I can feel Harry's getting close to giving up in the beginning, but I hope he'll keep on having faith. I liked how the pendant meant so much to him, not only because of it's practical, life-saving quality, but because Severus had given it to him.

And of course there was the confrontation with Voldie...Hey, did he take Harry's blood to resurrect himself, like in canon? If so, would he be poisoned now too? That would be very cool! And no anti-dote for him!

Oh, I guessed right! I hardly ever do that. What a neat way to handle the Voldemort dilemma.

And of course Severus' anti-dote worked! I knew he could do it.

And the ending line just made me go "awwww"! Lovely!

Very cute ending! I think Harry made a wise decision, but it is also the fact that he has a loving father figure now that gave him the security and perception to make it. I do hope he can someday have some good memories of James and Lily, but even if he doesn't , he does have a real family of his own now.

Wonderful story! I really enjoyed it.

    Author's Response:

I had this scene in mind since I decided that I wasn't going to kill Harry, after all (and yes, I very nearly decided to do so). You're correct about the reason Harry decided against using Perfectus Memoria - he's in a much better emotional state, now, than when he'd first tried to make it.

As for the future... the Muse has proposed a sequel, actually, but there shall be no promises.

Anyhow, thank you so much for all the delightful reviews. I'm so glad you enjoyed this story, because I sure had a lot of fun writing it! ^^

Severus Snape is a spy by nature and by training. As such it infuriates him when he realizes that he knows virtually nothing about the real Harry…other than the fact that Harry keeps a journal. Using his own invisibility cloak, Severus sneaks into the Gryffindor tower while the students are at the leaving feast and exchanges the journal's specially matched ever-sharp quill with a quill of his own that has been charmed to a parchment in Severus' possession so that everything Harry writes is copied to the parchment. What does Harry write, and what happens when Severus realizes that they are kindred spirits. 2010 Challenge Fest entry. Response to Pen Pals by dianehc.

What a wonderful story! It's beautifully written and I love how you've portrayed Severus. He is a sly one, but thank goodness that it led to him discovering that Harry was abused and to helping him. Hopefully it can be the beginning of a better relationship for them.

    Lovely job!

An unfortunate potions accident leaves Harry free of inhibition and forced to tell the truth, no matter the consequences. Winner for Best Story in the 2010 Challenge Fest. Response to the Another Potions Accident Challenge by Ebbtide.

This really is just too great a story to end it here, you know, Pandora! I love how real and believable it all is, from the beginning when you explain Draco's motivations for wanting to sabotage Hermione's potion (can't help but feel a little sorry for him, having Lucius for a father) to end with the three of them about to embark on a summer together.

I was a little upset that Harry's friends were not more understanding since they knew he couldn't help himself, but it just begs for a sequel, or further chapters so they can make it up.

Harry's reactions were very believable. Of course he would be so upset that he would instinctively run and hide, but thankfully Severus showed up in the nick of time. Their interactions were just perfect.

And writing about their summer together and Harry returning to Hogwarts in the fall (hopefully with a new guardian and friend) would just make everything perfect!

    Great job!

    Author's Response:

    Thanks Kristeh.

I did write this three times last night, and my browser at home closed it!!

Yeah, poor Draco;  having Lucius as a father is very difficult. Lucius is part of that whole, "Pureblood" mentality. He does love his son, in his own twisted, demented, kind-of-way, but this was the way that "he" was brought up, and his father, and grandfather, before him; he just doesn't know how to be a father.

Don't worry about Harry's friends. They will come around, as will be apparant in the sequel, that I've been heavily strong-armed to write! LOL!

Thanks for all "your" input and ideas for this story by the way. You were a great inspiration and help like always. By the way, since you've convinced me to write a sequel, how about letting me bounce some ideas off of you for it! You and Tabitha are my life-lines! What would I do without her for a beta, and you as a good friend?

Severus Snape and Harry Potter think that they know everything about each other. However, when Headmaster Dumbledore persuades his Potions Master to give duelling lessons to the youngest Triwizard Champion, events unfurl which will change both their lives forever. 2010 Challenge Fest entry. Oh, a very intriguing beginning! I'm really liking it.

Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm glad so many people seem to like the first chapter; it's a bit gritty (I based it on the Medieval Miracle Plays) but I thought it would be interesting to start with a brief, fierce flash of history, lus it would mean that the reader knows about the Corridor when it appears later on in the story.

Oh, how original! I don't think I've ever read a story where Hagrid adopts Harry. I love it! I wonder if Hagrid is mature enough, but he definitely has a great heart and deeply loves Harry. And Harry has a pretty good head on his shoulders, so I'm sure they'll be just fine. And I like how you've shown a connection between Hagrid and Severus.

Author's Response: Thanks :) The Severus/Hagrid connection was one of the reasons why I thought that the adoption would work; in the canon, Hagrid seems to respect Severus and, I imagine, would listen to the astute, clever man's advice. Combined with Aberforth's no-nonsence attitude and, as you say, the fact that Harry has a good head on his shoulders, Hagrid's mistakes will probably be minimal and, most importantly, he'll give Harry the all encompassing love and support he needs to flourish.

Title: Chapter 5: Res, Non Verba 18 Jul 2010

Another great chapter! I liked how Hagrid made that speech and formally recognized Harry, as well as making the point that he had not entered the tournament and that the other students had behaved badly towards him. And thank goodness that Harry is out of that, though it'll be interesting to see how you'll have it play out with Voldemort.

I do hope that Ron will come around before he loses Harry's friendship forever. This time period was definitely one of Ron's low points.

And of course it would be confusing and stressful for Harry to not know what to expect from Severus now, or how he should react. I'm glad that they talked and got things straightened out. And I loved Severus instructing Harry to get detention by punching Malfoy, lol.

    Author's Response:

Thanks ^^. I thought that, although Hagrid seldom makes speeches, it would be very in character for him to publicly claim Harry as his son, not least because, after his childhood, having someone proudly announce him as a member of their family would do wonders for his self-esteem.

I think Ron is rather similar, personality wise, to Percy; hyper-sensitivity when it comes to themselves and a surprising lack of perception for the feelings of others, combined with a liberal dose of bull-headedness, does not make a good combination. Luckily, Ron has other, more positive traits, which will stand him in good stead.

I really loved this chapter, especially Severus losing it with Dumbledore. I'm glad that he has finally accepted that he was wrong about Harry being spoiled and conceited. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Author's Response: Thanks, I'm really glad; I was a little worried about whether I took things too far in that scene- even though I felt Severus' reaction in character- so I'm very pleased that it was well received
