About me:

Hi, everyone.  I'm a long-time HP fan, but new to reading and writing HP fanfics.  Of course Harry and Severus are favorites, but I really like almost all the characters.

I'm a preschool teacher, and happily married with two children who also love HP.  Other things to know about me?  Hmm, I love horseback riding, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.  I love coming to talk with other fans on the internet, and I love reading fanfics.

Rather than allowing Harry to stay at Diagon Alley after he blew up Aunt Marge, the Ministry sends Harry back to the Dursleys. Harry returns to school after a terrible summer, to find that he's not the only one with this kind of secret. A student has been killed by his family. New screening measures are put into place by the Ministry: Every student must be given a medical exam and interview to look for child abuse. With Dumbledore facing an inquiry, Snape is entrusted with the task of making sure EVERYONE receives one.

I just had to say...what an awesome story! The characters' emotions, thoughts, and interactions are so real and believable.

Poor Neville...my heart breaks for him.

I'm glad that Severus has had an epiphany...or I suppose he's still in the middle of it, but I love your portrayal of him, and of Harry's friends, also. I like how they divided 'duties' with the twins and Hermione going to the adults and Ron assigned to keep Harry busy.

Harry's rationalizations and denials are so true, but so sad. I do hope that he will get the help he so desperately needs. I can't wait to see how his relationship with Severus will develop.

A fantastic job and I can't wait for more!

    Author's Response:

Yes, Severus is working through an epiphany.

Another great chapter! Poor Harry, the abuse he's suffered is just horrible. I just want to give him a hug.

I'm so glad that Severus and Remus are going to visit the Dursleys, though. They deserve everyhing they get and more.

Your interpretation of the characters is brilliant and I love your Severus. I'm so anxious for more!

Wow, didn't the Severus/Harry revelation coming! I imagine that it will be equally hard for Harry to accept too, at least at first. Why do I have a feeling that Severus might have changed his mind about transferring guardianship by the time it becomes feasible...or so I hope.

Poor Harry; he's feeling so alone right now. Of course he would feel betrayed by Ron and Hermione at first, but I hope he'll soon see that they were being good friends and that they did the right thing.

I felt so badly for him when he just can't trust that anyone can help him get away from the Dursleys. Thank goodness that Severus is resolved on that matter. I don't think anyone could stand against him once he's made his mind up.

    Looking forward to more!

It's sad how Harry is isolating himself from everyone, though I can understand his feelings.

Interesting to have Snuffles/Sirius show up now. I'm glad that he found Harry and gave him a safe ear to confide in. It's going to be really interesting when Harry discovers who he really is, lol.

    Great job again!

Another wonderful chapter! I can only imagine how Harry would feel, learning that Severus is now his guardian. He must be terribly upset and frightened, but is even too afraid to show it. I would expect some anger too, after the way Severus has treated him in the past.

Severus is obviously trying to do what's best now, and I was glad that he went after Harry and cared for him while he was ill.

And Ginny's line was quite apropos, lol.

Great chapter, Paganaidd! Of course the guardianship is hitting Harry hard now. It's so sad that he's afraid to ask questions and that Severus doesn't realize it.

It was a sad scene with Harry and Hermione, but real and necessary. They were both so in-character. Hermione's sense of responsibility is so strong that she's willing to do the right thing, no matter how difficult it is. I'm glad that Harry realized that she only did it because she cares so much for him.

It's also sad that Harry is blaming himself for the way the Dursleys abused him (saying that they hadn't had it in for him from the very beginning, that it was his fault for messing up). Poor kid, I do hope Severus can help him to see that that isn't true.

    Great job again!

I'm so glad that Harry's patched things up with his friends. Hopefully, that will help him to resist those suicidal thoughts.

    I really love your story!

I like the interaction between Harry and Severus. It's still very awkward with neither of them knowing how to deal with the changes in their relationship and perceptions of each other. Poor Harry, what a blow to realize that the Dursleys did receive money to care for him, but that they still denied him so many basic necessities.

Another wonderful chapter. It's sad to see how Harry inteprets all of Severus' words and actions, but not surprising. I do hope something will happpen to reassure him soon. It's hard to see him shutting down like this, poor kid.

It's scary that Harry's thoughts seem to be verging on suicidal. The dementors made it worse at the end of the chapter, but Harry was already sort of leaning that way on the Astronomy Tower, it seemed. At the least, he seems to be in a serious depression. I hope Severus will notice it soon.

And I do wonder about Ginny, as she was obviously not on the Tower to study.

It's too bad that Harry can't realize that Severus is trying to help him, but they have had a hostile past and Harry's not inclined to trust adults anyway. I just hope Severus will really take note of things before something happens.

    Great chapter!
