About me:

| Hi, everyone. I'm a long-time HP fan, but new to reading and writing HP fanfics. Of course Harry and Severus are favorites, but I really like almost all the characters. I'm a preschool teacher, and happily married with two children who also love HP. Other things to know about me? Hmm, I love horseback riding, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I love coming to talk with other fans on the internet, and I love reading fanfics. [Report This]

Rather than allowing Harry to stay at Diagon Alley after he blew up Aunt Marge, the Ministry sends Harry back to the Dursleys. Harry returns to school after a terrible summer, to find that he's not the only one with this kind of secret. A student has been killed by his family. New screening measures are put into place by the Ministry: Every student must be given a medical exam and interview to look for child abuse. With Dumbledore facing an inquiry, Snape is entrusted with the task of making sure EVERYONE receives one.

Another great chapter! I really like the Oculist, Madame Vitrea. She seems brisk but kind, and she seems like she's good at her job. I loved how Severus noted Harry's embarrassment about his old pair and tried to cover for him and how he insisted that Harry get some nice glasses, and not just cheap ones. I can see them making progress, step by step.
Speaking of progress, I'm so glad that Severus realized that Harry was afraid of being hit, that he had misinterpreted Severus' words, and they got that straightened out.
And that last sentence, where Severus acknowledges that he failed Neville, and how it mirrors his treatment of Harry, is so sad. Great writing!

Great chapter! I'm so enjoying the developing relationship between Harry and Severus. I felt so sorry for Harry when he learned how much money the Dursleys had been paid for his care, and to have to face how much they truly despised him. I thought Severus reacted very well when Harry couldn't help but vent a little.
Looking forward to the next chapter!

Aw, poor Severus...it would have to have been completely embarrassing for him to have to explain all that to the group, and hurtful to deal with Minerva's reaction.

Oh, yes, I'm sure Snuffles had NO idea who Severus was, lol. I loved that scene and how protective, though misguided, Snuffles was. Of course Severus is doing pretty well in the protective category too. I wonder if those two might actually be able to put aside their differences for Harry's sake one day. Unlikely, but they do both care for him.

I'm afraid I'm too tired to write much of a review now...I'll try to do better tomorrow...but I did just want to say that I really love this story and that was a fantastic chapter!

Oh, no, I was afraid Harry would try something like this. The poor kid has had so much to deal with lately, and he's never had a strong support team, other than Ron and Hermione who are only kids themselves and limited in what they can do to help.
Thank goodness Severus was there in time!
Great chapter! Chilling, but very realistic.

Another wonderful chapter! I loved Severus sitting with Harry and telling him stories. And he actually wept...he's really learned to love Harry whether he's ready to admit it yet or not. Poor Severus, losing his own mother in such a terrible way, too.
And now Remus is going to come too. I can't wait for more!

What a heartbreaking chapter! That was just awful how Petunia and Vernon denied Harry such simple little comforts as a child. Of course we knew already that they did, but reading it still had an impact.
And for Petunia to lie so about Harry's own mother not wanting him...she was just plain evil.
I loved how Severus was there. I do hope that they can both learn to open up to one another and share their feelings for one another, when Harry is fully aware too. They both need each other.
Wonderful job again!

What a wonderful chapter! I was so happy to see an update. Poor Harry, the Dursleys ought to be thrown to the lions, though on second thought, they'd probably give the poor lions indigestion.
I love how you're showing how Severus is becoming so protective and loving with Harry. It'll be interesting to see if Harry holds the veritiserum against him.
Looking forward to more!

So good to see this story updated again! I love seeing Harry interact with his friends and Mrs. Weasley. I hope it won't hurt Severus when he hears that he's now an 'uncle' rather than Harry telling everyone the truth, though I can see how it would be awkward for him right now. Can't wait for more!
