I sense great trouble in Harry's immediate future.
(There's a technical problem, a blank chapter between 18 and 19. Try to get to the new chapter by hitting Next from 18 and you'll see what I mean.)

Oh, it's lovely that you're back. And that Snape is still Snape, and Harry still Harry. I love this story... even after they come to care about each other, it just can't be easy between them.

Oh, this was lovely. Welcome back!
Oh, you finished it! Yay!
A lovely ending. This was never going to be a story with a BIG ENDING about Voldemort... it's more intimate than that. This, this is lovely. Thank you!
Harry receives a very special gift on his 16th birthday that leads him to the help he needs...Snape is finding respite from his growing pressures and discovers one in need of help. Despite himself, he finds he CAN grow close to another living being. Only..."everything would've been so much simpler if it'd actually been a cat"...

***Snape raised his left arm and clapped his hand on his covered forearm. "There's a reason I bear this Mark. Don't mistake me for your lapdog, Headmaster. Never."
Dumbledore's mouth closed, and he nodded, his eyes glittering.***
That, is a magnificent scene. And everyone has a different understanding of it. Beautiful.
Author's Response: ahhh Merlin, I'm so happy that someone got the double meaning of this :-) Thank you very much! I enjoyed writing that a lot indeed :-)
Ooh, you're back! Welcome!
I found this such an intriguing setup that I've been checking regularly to see if you'd extended the story. I'm so glad to see you have. Is that Lily haunting Severus? *waits patiently*
Author's Response: Thank you! And back with vengeance, hehe. You'll see who/what it is soon.
Oh, lovely, you're back! I bookmarked this story ages ago in the hopes that you might return. It's so good to see the story continuing.
Since you specifically ask, I think Snape removing Harry's glasses is a bit too deliberate a gesture. If he's hugging Harry, I think it has to be a more abrupt thing than that. Tears are messy. Getting your glasses smooshed against someone's body is only slightly more so.
But I like it either way. :)
Author's Response: Thank you, Claudia, for your criticism and your encouragement. I had not thought of that; I myself do not wear glasses, and I had thought that they would be rather conspicuous and rather more painful when digging into one's face. I will think on it. I would also like to express my appreciation for your username. I am a student of history, and a sometime student of Latin, and greatly enjoyed Robert Graves's take on such an oft-maligned character in Roman history. Pax, Aethyr
