As Harry enters his sixth year at Hogwarts, Voldemort's lengthening shadow stretches across the wizarding world and Harry is tormented by the knowledge that he alone can end this reign of terror. Worse, his mysterious mental link to Voldemort is stronger than ever and threatens to overwhelm him. Only Snape can teach him to control the nightmarish visions, but can Harry and Snape learn to trust one another, or will an old grudge that refuses to die destroy the wizarding world's sole hope of defeating the Dark Lord?

Also, I'd like to immediately point the finger at Ryan for being a DE, but then again you already have one main(ish) character in play who is an obvious DE so I don't really see the point in having two main DE/spy people besides Severus. Plus the obvious choice is to put your DE spy in the ministry, rather than right next to the most powerful wizard of the 20th century. Afterall, the ministry controls Britain - Dumbledore just largely influences XD
Also, I loved Harry's memory and I loved Snapey's reaction. Hopefully it means that Snape was a friend of Lily's (since this was written pre-DH). I luff XD When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.
Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story. Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH. Firstly I would like to commend you on your EVUL!mofo Voldemort. That whole bit at the end of the dream, where he's like, MUST - FIND - NEW - TORTURE - VICTIM! is so nice and lovely XD "He stood back just in case Snape had woken, realized where he was, and had decided to kill Harry." Secondly, that is my favourite line in this chapter because it is freaking hilarious XD I have a lot of love for this story. No love for the Dursleys, though XD Author's Response: Yay! I LOVE it when people review each chapter! It makes me feel special! :) I'll let you in on a little secret, too...I try to respond to most or all of my reviews at Potions and Snitches (It's fun!!), but I generally don't at ff.net 'cause there are too many and not any way to track who I've said what to. So if you review here, you have more chance of getting your questions or musings answered... :)
"The sun was hot, but the cool breeze more than made up for it. Harry was flat on his back on the green grass, basking in that glorious breeze, and in that moment he couldn’t bring himself to care how mad Aunt Petunia would be over how few weeds he’d managed to pull this morning." Has anyone ever told you how perfect that paragraph is? It's like ... awesome XD I love love LOVE Harry's reaction to Snape. A lot of times I read how Snape is injured and Harry immediately steps up to clean the wounds ... but DUDE, if I had a half-dead man on my floor, I would NOT be touching him straigh away. I'd be like ... erm, NO. My hands are clean (and you are not). So thank you for finally writing a realistic reaction to a gross, injured man XD Snapey Snapey Snapey - you're very passive aggressive aren't you? You know, I think we need to work on your communication skills. That, and personal hygene XD Author's Response: This is so fun - like hearing your reactions as you're reviewing! :) And yes, that would be my reaction, too - blood, dirt, grease, eww! You want me to touch WHAT? I'm glad we can both relate to Harry's dilema. ;)
There was much LOLage happening when I read this chapter XD I always thought that, out of the two, Uncle Vernon would be the greater of two evils, but now I repent and recognise that Aunt Petunia is, indeed, The Number One Evil Honcho. Besides Voldemort, of course. 'TUNEY, YOU ARE EVUL AND NOT NICE :C Snapey: I can faintly see some sort of emotion shining through, but the amazing amount of grease that your body has accumulated is tampering with my vision. I am quite torn between shaking the front of your robes and screaming IDGIT! and shaking my head at you before presenting you with an Idiot's Guide to People. I fear that both actions will come to naught, however, considering that you are a fictional character and all that XD Kirby Lane: I luff you and this story. No joke XD Author's Response: That's right - sometimes I feel like screaming at Snape, too! But if I didn't I guess he wouldn't be Snape, would he? Ah, well. :)
“Sorry. Thanks a whole heaping lot for messing up my room, Sir.” I have never guffawed in my life, but I think I did when I read that entire bit - Harry you cheeky little bastard you XD HARREH - you are at the top of my list of favourite characters purely because you have managed to completely disgust Snape. The peaches sound nice - I wish I had a can to slurp from 8D Author's Response: I'm glad you liked that line - I had fun writing it! hehe. And yes, that chapter gave me quite the craving for messy, sticky peaches.
I just want you to know that that is absolutely perfect because usually reading about a boring situation is as boring as being in said boring situation. But you have made it very funny and un-boring XD Vernon Dursley: you still haven't overcome Petunia in my list of evul!characters in Harry Potter, because I suspect she is rather smarter than you and her damage to Harry has been more emotional, rather than physical. You can't fault a stupid man for being stupid, after all - unless you are Severus Snape of course, who doesn't suffer fools and, let me tell you, Vernon, you are practically the definition of stupid. I bet they have your mugshot right next to it, in fact XD Snapey: You are slowly gaining points with me. Firstly, you weren't overly cruel or sadistic - though I guess some people think that the truth is cruel. Secondly, you have started up an exchange of information with Harry, which is one step in the long, winding road towards SNAPE/HARRY LUFF (or, you know, tolerance, whatever XD) and world peace XD Author's Response: I agree with you completely on the Vernon vs. Petunia debate! I think Vernon is the more volatile and damaging in certain ways, definitely, but Petunia is worse in my mind because I really do think she's a little more intelligent and has more sense of what she actually is doing to Harry. Right on!
You are almost too sneaky, Harry C: You might have got away with it, too, except Snape is the Head of Slytherin and all that. Plus a master spy x) Snapey - your points are dropping yet again. I know that you are injured and that Harry is like your archnemesis and all that, but YOU are the adult in this relationship, not to mention a professor, and Harry is obviously injured as well. Give him a go on the bed for once XD Author's Response: Yes, Harry should really think next time he tries to out-Slytherin the head of Slytherin. ;) I wondered if anyone would comment on the bed situation, hehe. Horrible of Snape, truly horrible. I don't think it even occured to him to offer it!
Ok, that's hilarious because that is the exact same pose my mum adopts when she is pissed at me XD Snape: Any points you gained for making me laugh at your expense were hastily removed for being an insensitive git. Sorry. On another note, I'm glad we finally sorted out that whole snitch-dream thing XD Plus: Hogsmeade gets pwned? Ah, poor Harry, just what he needs - another weight added to his shoulders and strange dreams with a Doppelganger who can see the future. Well, at least they're not of Voldemort XD Author's Response: Tell your mom to act like Snape when she's upset, and I bet you'll be running for your life soon... No need to apologize to Snape. He doesn't care anyway. But let's put him in an enclosed space with Harry for about a month and see if THAT makes any difference... ;)
"Harry unceremoniously landed in a heap, face down on a mound of dirt and leaves." I like how you don't let us forget that Harry is still an adolescent - all elbows and knees and whatever XD Oh, and I found this awesome quote that applies to Snape: "You are not superior just because you see the world in an odious light. – Vicomte de Chateaubriand (1768 – 1848)" Yeah. Sharing is caring, right? XD Author's Response: Name calling. Does that mean Snape's down in points again? Aw, poor Snape...he was so happy, too. That is a GREAT quote! I LOVE it! Can I use it in my story somehow? Not sure how yet, I just really, really want to, haha! |
