Amidst misconceptions and reconciliation, the lines that separate the Wizarding World will be destroyed. Enemies will serve one another as friendships are tested and forged. But first, the Sorting Hat Who Will Not Sort has a message for Hogwarts...

I also liked Dudley's response. I could just hear Vernon bellowing "No more bloody owls!" And Hermione wanting to skive off Potions to look up things in the library? Ron's comment to Harry at the end was exactly what I was thinking! Bravo! Author's Response: Thanks! Yes, Draco saying that his *father* is a DE is somewhat leading. -K
Well, even if Dumbledore was not Sorted into Slytherin, his mind opertes a lot like you'd expect a classic Slytherin to act (if you buy into the prejudicial description of them, any way). Bravo again! Author's Response: I love that you added, "if you buy into that nonsense". It makes you sound like you're really in the world of the story. :) -K
An excellent chapter and much fun to read. Onwards! Author's Response: *iz interested!* Totally made-up Latin-esque stuff is what I used for this fic (and, weirdly, have continued to use the same made-up original spells in other, totally non-related fic.) But recently, in the sequel, I had to have Ron say something in Anglo-Saxon/Old English, which apparently does the whole genitive / nominative / accusative that German and Latin both also do? I used genitive case because it was possessive, but have no idea if I'm correct; everything I read on the subject seemed kind of esoteric. In short, can I ask you Latin question in future? -K
Author's Response: I think it's safe to say that Dumbledore believed they'd figure it out eventually. I'm one of those people who don't believe he's evil as well. Just very skilled and much smarter than most people, coupled with the unfortunate tendency to think that means he knows best. I mean, he probably DOES most of the time, but I do think he goes too far occasionally. -K
I am now very worried about Draco (though I admit I still don't trust him). You are a very talented writer, you know. There's not many authors who can take an essentially unlikeable character and write them in such a way that the reader grows to care about what happens to them even when they are still a person that you wouldn't want to socialize with. But you can do it, and you do it incredibly well. If you want to know why I've been able to red all these chapters today, its because I'm reading on my laptop while IT works on my desktop computer. Once they get that working again my reading and reviewing will probably slow down a bit. And thanks for letting me know that you have the sequel on ff.net. I'll check that out as soon as I finish this story. Ta! Author's Response: I love that you worry about Draco without trusting him. That is how I always felt about him in canon, too. Sort of: oh, no, what is going to HAPPEN to this kid when he realizes what crappy choices he's made? And I really wanted to convey that to the readers here. I hope your computer gets better soon! -K
Very fun to read! Bravo! Author's Response: Thank you! -K
I'd love to know what kind of haircut Draco got. This was very fun to read. Author's Response: I was surprised how many people had negative reactions to that bit. It is very forceful: a kind of "I am throwing away your identity" moment, and that's tough. -K
Bravissimi! Author's Response: Draco in the throes of sheer happiness is very charming. :) Too bad he can't find that uncomplicated joy so often. -K
Bravo! Author's Response: One of my favorite bits. :) -K
I knew the Ministry would rear its ugly head (very ugly head in the person of Umbridge in my opinion) sooner or later. Poor Remus. He has had a hell of a life, hasn't he? Hmmm. I think you've given me an idea for an AU one-shot with his thought that it might have been better to have slugged Severus back when they were in school. It's weird but sometimes you make your best friends that way as my sister and another girl in our 8th grade gym class discovered. You once again have done a beautiful job. Bravo! Author's Response: Yes, isn't that strange? It's like, now you know who's in charge, all the tension's dissolved. Although I think in Severus's case, it was more like proof that Remus is a human being and not some sort of exhalted creature who exists beyond a fit of temper. -K |
