Darkness swallowed Severus's childhood and is threatening to engulf Harry's. Will the man recognize himself in the boy before history repeats itself? [Generally short chapters due to (almost) daily updates]

I would have read and reviewed last night but I was at the emergency room after a fall. No broken bones thank goodness, just a sprained wrist and knee, but I sure could use one of Professor Snape's healing potions and bruise salve. Your story makes me smile and since smiling produces endorphins I'm feeling better already. Again bravissimi and thanks for the quick update. Author's Response: Sorry to hear about your accident: having sprained my wrist twice in the last ten years I can fully sympathise. (Unlike Harry, I genuinely was clumsy lol) I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter ^^.
Author's Response: Thank you ^^ I wanted to interduce the children to the cerberus in a unique way so I thought that the Room of Requirement might be fun ^^ Yup, all the kids are being honed into Slytherins: cunning, ambitious and practical. Poor old Severus lol!
Excellently written, as always. I look forward to the next chapter. Author's Response: Thanks for the review: yup, you're totally right: voldemort's soul was not part of Harry so the Basilisk's venom honed in on it immediately and destroyed it ^^
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm really glad you liked the chapter; rather fraught after a period of calm but that's how life goes ^^. Severus is going to be feeling somewhat overwhelmed for a while, as is Harry. As the sister of an incredibly accident prone brother, I've learnt Poppy's principles by heart: get on with patching him up, then ask what he thought he was doing lol!
Author's Response: Thanks for the review; I'm really glad you liked the epilogue- I wanted to leave the story on a high note, despite the tragedy. (Also I thought a little 'snapshots' style epilogue would echo the first chapter nicely.) I'm happy the description of Severus sounded right; I didn't want to over-do it but, I thought, showing Harry that, in adopting him, Severus' life had also changed for the better was a good way to finish :) What do we know of great heroes and evil villains? Nothing: we can only base our ideas upon the facts and opinions disclosed to us by others. History is written by the winners. Tom Riddle is not Voldemort.

Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I thought that it was quite fitting, seeing the Gandalf/Saruman metaphor, and, as you said, AR's voice would really do it justice ^^
Actually, perhaps it was for the best that Tom did what Slughorn wanted him to do because if Hagrid had been left to bring in even more dangerous creatures and more than one person could have died and Hagrid would have ended up in Azkaban. I really like your writing style and wish I was as good at writing conversations. I'm looking forward to seeing Harry's relationships with his Mum, Severus and Tom grow and seeing Dumbledore finally get what he deserves. Bravo! Author's Response: Thanks so much ^^. I'm really glad people like Tom; I wanted to try something different with his character and writing a non-psychopathic Tom is definately interesting. (Although, on the balance, things are far *more* dangerous for Harry this way, which is going to be a lot of fun!) I agree, Hagrid was definately a loose canon and I doubt that he would have stopped with aragog. After all, he always wanted a dragon and, I expect, Slughorn covered up for him more often than not- valuable potions ingredients could be harvested! Severus Snape survived the battle of Hogwarts and struggled to rebuild the Wizarding world. Now, duty fulfilled, Severus' life is, at last, his own. To end.
However, Harry Potter has a life-debt to repay. Takes Place: 8 - Pre Epilogue (adult Harry) - Snape flavour: None Tags: Alternate Universe Categories: Teacher Snape > Trusted Mentor Snape

Author's Response: Thank you ^^ Yes, the tango is so passionate, brooding, dark and sexy- I can just see Lily going 'Sev, it's you! We've got to learn to do it!' After nearly freezing to death outside his relative's home, little Harry is rescued by first a spirit and then a snarky git! The adventure isn't over yet though, as Snape soon realizes that his charge's problems aren't limited to just frostbite.

I really loved the way that Harry defended Severus to Dumbledore and hated the way Dumbledore was talking about Sev. Thank goodness Lily was there to explain things to Harry. I admit that I was afraid that Dumbledore had put something hidden in the adoption papers that would cause problems later on. It's the sort of thing he would do, I think, given the way that you have his personality written. Well done! |
