After Harry is caught for exploding a cauldron in 2nd year Potions, Snape insists he keep a firm hand on the boy he must secretly protect. However, he discoveres that there is more to the twelve year old than unruliness and disrespect. Similarly, Harry learns from and gains a new perspective of his professor.

- This story keeps getting better and better. Snape is perfectly Snapey and yet his attention and kindness to Harry is not out of character in the least. I look forward to seeing what happens next. The business with the sound amplification spell is marvelously done.

Thank you! That's really encouraging to hear that the story is getting better...as opposed to the story sucking a little more each time...lol. I'm really trying hard to balance the sternness and kindness in Snape's character without ruining it completely. It's hard work sometimes!

- Dr. Yuri is a hoot! I wish I would have had a pediatrician like him when I was a kid. He might be a little alarming in amnner but he tells you what's wrong and what he's going to do about it (which my doc as a kid never did). And Taki and Sev are great in this chapter.

- Hmmm, I sort of want to say that Kaslin is Harry's mum, but another part of me wonders if she is the only sane part of Bellatrix. I'm probably wrong on both counts. Anyway, a very interesting and well written chapter. More please!

- This story keeps getting better and better! I like the interaction between Harry and Severus. Also, don't worry about what you did regarding the potions making. It made perfect sense to me! I am glad that your Harry is interested in potions because I always felt that initially he looked forward to Potions class until Severus let his grudge get in the way and knocked any interest in succeeding at Potions out of Harry's head. Keep up the good work! I'm really looking forward to reading more chapters!

- You did a great job on the Quidditch scene (and I agree with you, they are bloody difficult to write, as hard to write properly as battle scenes in my opinion). I love it that you have Fred and George being friends with Harry and Blaise is priceless with his cheeky sense of humour. Great job! I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

After the Dobby incident at the beginning of the second book, Harry runs away, and Snape kidnaps him. In an old-fashioned house with no comforts and a huge black dog, Harry finds himself at Snape's mercy as Snape plays mind games and makes Harry live through different scenarios. Though Snape seems crazy and psychotic, Harry begins to see reasons behind Snape's sporadic behavior.
There is corporal punishment, but it is different from what I've written before. This is a Mean!Snape story for the most part. If you're looking for a cuddly story, go elsewhere please.

- Lovely chapter. The last line made me want to cry, though. I like hte way a relationaship is slowly building between Harry and Snape without Snape being out of character. And Harry's imagination is priceless. It was really nice to find notice of the update when I turned on the computer today and I am looking forward to the next chapter when ever it is ocmpleted.
What if Lily and James survived the confrontation with Voldemort yet still gave Harry to the Dursleys? What if Harry was adopted after only 9 months on Privet Drive? Alternate Universe and OOC. Severus adopts Harry.

- You know, I really don't like James Potter and his family at all. Now Sev and Alex and their family are wonderful!
I'm sure the fur is going to fly when JAmes and Lily get to Petunia's house and discover Harry/Alex is not there.

- Oh, I really dislike James and Sirius. But Given who Alex's friends are I think that he'll be able to stay safely with Severus. I wonder if James understands just what it means to have ties to the Cosa Nostra?
I think the Potters are going to have a nasty surprise waiting for them. I won't ask you if I'm right but will wait for the next chapter to see what happens.

Harry receives a very special gift on his 16th birthday that leads him to the help he needs...Snape is finding respite from his growing pressures and discovers one in need of help. Despite himself, he finds he CAN grow close to another living being. Only..."everything would've been so much simpler if it'd actually been a cat"...

- Wonderful! I really ought to be sleeping as I have to get up and go to work in 6 hours, but I really needed to read this chapter. I loved everything about it. THe sacrificial magic was... (shaking my head, trying to find the right words)... I can't coherently explain how it made me feel, but its all good, I promise! I loved seeing Harry taking care of Severus and Sev telling HArry that he was Sev's cat, not matter what, just had me beaming. Now, I need to find out who has died. I hope it's not one of the Weasley's or Hermione. Bravo!
Author's Response: Oh, I'm really glad you liked it ! There are a few elements in this story ( 41 chapters now ) that I was proud of, but this one, the sacrificial idea, was from far my favorite, I couldn't wait to see the reactions here ! There will be a lot more about it, too. I hope you'll like what comes next ;-)
