Hi there.

I am a 55 year old mother of five grown kids and a grandmother of a beautiful 6 month old granddaughter.

I discovered fan fiction about 18 months ago, but had been writing my own stories before then. I just didn't know that there was such a huge market out there of people who like to read amateur works like mine.

Mind you, some are not so very amateur in content. There are some brilliant writers out there.

I have been obsessed with Harry Potter since buying my then 8 year old son the first three books in the series. I wasn't going to read them but a friend who loves fantasy ( and is even older than me, if you can believe that) encouraged me to do so and an addiction was born.

By the way, I come from Victoria, Australia.

I hope I can give a little bit of pleasure to a lot of people.

    Very good!
    It would have been nice if Sev had found out that Draco had actually taken another students property, instead of Harry trying to take something of Draco's. Still I don't suppose it would have mattered much to Sev.
    I loved your description of Neville on a broom. 'A drunken loon'--very funny.
    Good to see that Sev was frightened for HArry even if it was against his inclinations.
    I wish I could just sit all day and read the rest of the story, but I am afraid I have other things to do.
    Looking forward to reading three.

    Nicely written. All I can say is Poor Harry, and someone should hang the Dursleys by their thumbs in their still dirty bathroom.
    I wonder if Harry's teacher is going to investigate Harry's circumstances or whether she will brush it under the carpet as his teachers in canon must have done.
    I mean, as if she cold believe that litte, skinny needs exercise more than his whale of a cousin.

    It seems to me that Vernon Dursley is little short of a sociopath. He has absolutely no conscience. He did't even check that Harry is dead. Did he consider that Harry might just tell any rescuer exactly who beat him up?

    Its just as well that canon Dursleys weren't as bad as most fanfic Dursleys or Harry would have been far too mentally damaged to face the Dark Lord.

    Author's Response: Vernon was always a bit thick... And my Dursley's were a bit more harsh than I had planned but things will get better for young Harry with them gone from his life. Thanks for taking the time to review!

    Well, this is lovely. Your story was recommended at Lily's Charm Yahoo group and I thought I would give it a try. Baby Harry is gorgeous, and the young Severus is trying so hard to be a good and loving father. And succeeding.

    I do have one question and this worried me throughout the chapter. But I must be especially thick as no one else has asked this question in all your other reviews. What is 'Rys'in toddlerese? I cannot work it out, I am afraid. Severus didn't even have to think what it meant. I can't turn Harry, or boy, or even freak into Rys. Please put me out of my misery.

    I was surprised that the woman from child protection was there and would allow anyone to buy a child. I thought the whole 'adoption' would have been done secretly and illegally. I am sure that selling children is not legal in Britain. But apart from this, it is lovely to see the development of the relationship between father and son. It is so heart-rendiing to see just how much Harry craves affection that he would take to a perfect stranger so quickly. But he is being offered affection and kindness, something the little boy has never experienced, that he can remember anyway.

    Did James know that HArry wasn't his. It is also sad that the man who died to protect HArry has now been totally obliterated and I doubt Sev will make any kind of point to mention him. He did say something about 'your other daddy', but I suppose that will be the first and the last time that Sev talks about James to HArry.

    On to chapter 2.

    Author's Response: "Rys" was the only part of "Harry's" that the toddler could pronounce. His relatives tended to scream his name at him, which is why Harry isn't too fond of it. Private adoptions often involve fees, which in the early 1980s were not regulated - at least in America, not too sure about Britain. A CPS worker would have just been there to witness the exchange and sign off on it, and didn't know how much 'fee' changed hands. James did know and is talked about through the story.     Sev has a difficult road to hoe. I am glad to see the traces of annoyance in Severus, otherwise he would have been totally unrecognisable as the snarky potions master.

    poor little Harry. What hell his life must have been with the Dursleys. Is Severus going to have a friend in Phillip Mays, I wonder?

    I take it your Albus Dumbledore is going to be as evil as Voldemort in his own way. I am not a fan of evil and manipulative Dumbledore, but we shall see what you ahve done with him.

    LOL  I have lots of it already written so it's not always too much work to get a chapter out.  That said, I do have writer's block a lot but I have about 6 stories going right now so if I do get blocked, I can usually go write another one for a bit and then inspiration hits!

    I probably reviewed this over at fanfic, Yab, but I just had to say that I could read it with impunity this time because I now know what happened. But even so, the ending of this chapter is very powerful and heartwrenching.

    I also adore how you ahve described HArry and Severus' emotions and actions when they are sitting outside the tent. Severus' love for his son just oozes out of the words and envelops you in its intensity. It is truly beautifully written. Harry's contentment in his father's protection and love is also very, very believable.

    Go Hermione! Sometimes she annoys me intensely, but Ron needed to be chastised quite severely!

    Snape was fantastic. 'If I find out that you have so much as breathed on anything other than the chair upon which you are now sitting...' so, so Snape.

    Loved it.
