About me:

Hi there.

I am a 55 year old mother of five grown kids and a grandmother of a beautiful 6 month old granddaughter.

I discovered fan fiction about 18 months ago, but had been writing my own stories before then. I just didn't know that there was such a huge market out there of people who like to read amateur works like mine.

Mind you, some are not so very amateur in content. There are some brilliant writers out there.

I have been obsessed with Harry Potter since buying my then 8 year old son the first three books in the series. I wasn't going to read them but a friend who loves fantasy ( and is even older than me, if you can believe that) encouraged me to do so and an addiction was born.

By the way, I come from Victoria, Australia.

I hope I can give a little bit of pleasure to a lot of people.

Thanks for reading this bio.

Yay!!! he's finally awake and all in one piece and totally compos. If very, very sad and unsure. When is this poor kid going to realise that Sev's love is unconditional. And vice versa, actually.

I loved how both Sev and Sirius had to hold themselves in check when the other was holding Harry. And I loved Sev's gestures with HArry's hair...just as if he was a little boy with a fever.
It's almost as if Sev is making up for all the times he missed when HArry WAS a little boy. All the times he missed touching him. And of course, he wants to reassure himself that his son is a warm, living person again. And I love the scene where Sev asked HArry if he knew how much he loved him?
The fact that it was a question and not a statement made it that much more sincere for Harry I think.

But just as we chatted about, I think Sev finally does get it that Harry loves him unconditionally. And he didn't even turn around and poke his tongue out at Sirius and say 'nah nah, nah nah nah'!

And who knows, maybe Sirius will grow up IF he realises that he may lose HArry totally if he doesn't smarten up his ideas. There will never be friendship between Sev and Siri, but tolerance from each for the other would be nice.

Can even Harry Potter bring the two enemies to an understanding?

At the end, where HArry says,'he hated you' in such a disappointed way...well, can't he see that Sev also hates Sirius? But Sev is his father and he isn't going to chose Sirius over Sev.

I suppose Sirius would be feeling very bitter to see just how much HArry does love Severus after he was treated so badly for all of those years.

Thanks for a wonderful chapter. And I will definitely be joining you for the next chapter...was there any question. I hope we see a little Ginny too though.

    ~Lesley~

    Author's Response:

Ginny will be around next chapter for sure.  Ron and Hermione as well.  In answer to your question about can't Harry see how much Sev hates Sirius...no, Harry can't see that right now.  Through the chapter, Harry was watching Severus' reactions to Sirius and Severus never so much as frowned.  And Harry is very protective of his father, especially in the state of mind he's in.  He doesn't see Severus as Snape anymore.  He's not the same person he once was.  Sirius, on the other hand was scowling and reacting badly to hearing Harry called Mr. Snape.  Of course, we don't blame Sirius for this, but Harry is afraid that Sirius will try to get Severus out of the picture.  And, in canon, remember that Harry was very, very upset over the the way Sirius and James treated Severus, and Harry didn't even like Severus then!  Harry and Sev are close now.  Much closer than Sirius and Harry were ever allowed to be.  Even Remus and Harry are closer than Sirius and Harry.  It's not ideal for Sirius, but there's really no other way it couuld have played out.  Remus and Sev have been through too much with Harry not to have an edge over Sirius.  And Sirius hated (in Harry's mind) Severus for no good reason.  Those two have a lot to talk about.

Yes Sirius is bitter.  And he should be.  He has had no time to come to terms with this.  But hey, we still have chapters and chapters to go.  And you're right.  Sev and Sirius will never be buds.  LOL

And yep, Severus gets it now.  Sirius, Harry's beloved godfather, has returned from the dead, and all Harry can think about is  making sure he and dad are okay.  Severus would have to be blind not to see that Harry ain't going anywhere.  Hence, the reawakening in his eyes, and of his soul.  He's got his boy.  And that's all he needs to know.  :o)

You really are spoiling us, Tab...two updates one day! Now we all have to hang over our computer screens waiting for the next alert! Do you know how hard that is going to be? LOL

Loved this...and aren't you a clever little dickens to come up with THAT scenario. Brill! I would never have guessed that you had that up your sleeve. But how wonderful for Remus...well, it will be when he gets over his shock. And he can't surely think that Tonks won't have him back, as it was he who broke off with her. And I aagree with HArry...Tonk's parents need a swift kick up the Kyber Pass! One would think that Andromeda Tonks might have had enough experience of exactly what prejudice can do! Remus the man is worth a thousand of most men. They should have gotten to know the real REmus Lupin before passing judgement. I hope Tonks is giving them a seriously hard time. Poor Remus; I seriously love that guy. He is definitely my favourite MArauder.

What do you think JK has against us that she killed off our two favourite adult characters?

Ginny..hmm, this is a bit deep. She is worried that Harry wasn't entirely himself, I suppose. Does she think that the REAL Harry wouldn't have wanted to snog her senseless anyway. IS she worried about how far they went...just how far did they go? Heehee. I hope everything is all right on the Harry/Ginny front.

And why is Sev so far away. Post traumatic Stress Disorder, if you ask me...perhaps that's what is wrong with all of them.

Can't wait for Sirius to wake up. I wonder if he will even care that his old friend is no longer a were-wolf or will he be too caught up in his indignation to focus on anything else. Poor Remus seems to think that he might have lost Sirius's friendship.

    Oh, the possibilities...

I am officially in 'waiting impatiently' mode.

    LesleY~

    Author's Response:

Remus is definitely in shock.  Hasn't really realized what this will mean for him.  Well, in the case of Andromeda's parents, it's really not a case of prejudice, so much as worry for their daughter.  I mean, it'd be pretty hard to take if my daughter (if I had one) decided to marry a werewolf!  LOL  It's a hard life for Remus a wolf, and I think Tonks' parents are just concerned for their welfare.

You'll have to wait and see how far Harry and Ginny went. They are up soon.

Sev is pondering...things.  You'll have to wait and see that as well.  LOL

Sirius is up soon as wel.  :o)

Tab, I had to laugh that both of our last chapters started off in such a similar manner...Harry being embarrassed about being hugged by Sev but revelling in it all the same. great minds think alike. Hee hee.

I also love the way Sev seems to be able to read Harry's mind at any given time without legilimising him. And I love that Sev is so understanding of Harry's need to not have to choose. If only he could be so sure of sirius. He longs for sirius to be as understanding as his father is.

I love the talk between the two. Sev is so gentle with his son, so concerned. It broke my heart to think that after everything that Tobias did to him, Sev still cared for his father. Like abused children every where, when it is a parent, the need to be loved by that parent intensifies because it is being denied to him or her. I think the love for a parent is it is inbuilt in humans, and to destroy that love and that trust is one of the lowest acts a human can perpetrate.

I loved that Sev demonstrated the difference between Sirius and his father and told Harry that despite the horrible things he did to him at school, Sirius is not evil. Immature and thoughtless, not evil.

And I loved Harry's question...'would you be able to care for someone who hated me?' And I loved Sev's honest answer.

The firewhisky confuses me a little. You're talking about Harry nearly drinking a whole bottle of the stuff. Was that like a bottle of whisky with a mixer, an individual single serve bottle. Because I was thinking about a full bottle of straight whisky, which would probably nearly kill a kid not used to alcohol.

The whole Ginny thing was beautifully done...poor Harry was so mortified. I take it that some pretty heavy petting went on in that bed. I don't remember the promise that Harry made to Ginny...can you refresh my memory there?

I am glad Sev is sensible about teenage sexuality and didn't come down on HArry for what he and Ginny had got up to and what they may get up to in the future. Forbidding teens is a sure way of ensuring they do exactly what you have demanded they don't do.

And I loved the ending where Hary is determined to show Sirius that he can love him as much as he loves his dad and his girlfriend and all the other important people in his life.

BTW, I can't believe that you only got five reviews on P&S for the last chapter. That's about my average. It's been better that last few chapters.

Anyway, as always, I'm waiting, waiting, waiting...always waiting for another chapter, except while I'm reading your latest offering. Hee hee.

    ~LesleY~

    Author's Response:

You know, as I reading this chapter over last night before I uploaded, I had to chuckle as well.  Great minds think alike!

It was a single serve bottle of firewhisky.  I don't know if they actually come that way in canon, but hey, it's AU, right?  LOL

I agree with you wholeheartedly about abusive parents.  And it's too bad that Severus had to go through that.  He deserved better.

Yep, Severus is very much wanting Harry to understand that he won't have to choose between him and Sirius, and since his basic purpose in life at this point is to make sure Harry is happy, he will do whatever he needs to do to make that happen, even it it means talking about Sirius Black a bit.  LOL

YOu'll have to wait and see the specifics of Harry and Ginny's escapades.  They are both up next.  As well as a nice chat with Sirius and a bit of a frantic and irritated Sev...  Hmmm...salivating for more yet?  I know, I'm mean.  And yeah, Severus is not the strict type as he is in some fics.  He is pretty pragmatic about some things, like Harry's relationship with Ginny.

We'll have to wait and see if Sirius is so easy to peruade as Harry is hoping.  LOL

As for reviews, they've been sparse lately.  Hopefully, it's just a dry spell and not an indication of reader feelings.  *shrug*

Thanks for the review, Les.  I appreciate it muchly.  :o)

Title: Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Either, Or 08 Sep 2008

    Brilliant! Loved it!

Tobias Snape was as much a monster as his foul wife. How did Severus Snape rise from the combined bile of these two heinous people...I know, with the love of Lily evans to help him.

But this terrible childhood abuse, combined with his later treatment of his own son are the reason's why Severus is unable to be harsh with HArry any longer. He was the shadow of his own father for a while in his treatment of James Potter's son, but he got a second chance and he cannot blow it, for his own sanity.

I loved the way Sev, Remus and Sirius all worked together to protect HArry, and how severus and Sirius both exclaimed so vehemently in the negative about Harry putting in a good word for Narcissa.

Tonks is one cheesed off Auror, I can't wait to see some kind of resolution there. And Scrimgeour must have felt like he had swallowed acid when forced into the corner about Remus.

I loved that HArry recognised the advocates sleezy moves towards Sev, but I am not sure that the moves were entirely because she was crawling to Harry Snape's father. We've SEEN Sev without his shirt. Hmm hmm!

God, I so hate that Scuzball Lucius might walk free because of one good deed he did (or maybe two) when he has spent the majority of his life murdering, raping and pilaging. It's sickening.

And Bellatrix...has she bought about her own end?

I am not sure exactly why all of the Weasleys, DD, Hermione, et all are there for the trial, especially as it seems to be a given that Malfoy will walk free.

And HArry's fear for Ginny was such a cliffhanger. Will he be more than a little peeved with his dad, or what.

Hey, I can find out PDQ! I have another chapter to read.

Thanks Tab for a wonderful ride.

    Les

    Author's Response:

LOL  That's true about Sev without his shirt.  Yummy.

Tonks and Remus are definitely having issues at the moment.  Don't be excited for a resolution any time soon though!  LOL

Everyone was simply there to support Harry.  They've been his pseudo-family for years now.  And they didn't know Malfoy would get off scot free.

And yep, Severus cannot be harsh with Harry.  He is much too afraid of becoming his father, and that combined with his terrible guilt of the past, he will never be able to do it.   You're right, Severus cannot blow this with Harry.  He wants, much like he did with Lily to make his son happy.  To both of their detriments, sometimes but they figure it out eventually.

Yay! I am so glad you used the throwing of the sand. And Sev's 'did you just throw sand at me'? and HArry's 'I was just trying to recapture our last visit to the beach', was perfectly done. Sev reall does need to play more. So does Harry for that matter.

I hope HArry gives Tobias' portrait a piece of his mind next chapter. And as wizarding portraits can talk, that should be a very interesting scene. I noticed you changed Harry's jeans for trunks...good decision.

I think this was wondeful, as I told you yesterday, Tab. Sev's explanations and HArry's remorse for pressing his dad's buttons were spot on. Harry is such a lovely soul. Lots of kids revel in the fact that they can upset their parents, but Harry feels devastated. That has to make Severus feel even more proud of his lovely son. Harry is an amazing young man, and Sev might not think it, but he is one half of the equation that makes up HArry Potter. Those years of psychological abuse did not even change Harry for the worse, nor did the Dursleys.

And the reaffirmation of their love for each other was beautiful. They are both revelling in the presence of the other in their life and the mental fortitude that enables Sev to ignore his vicious heritage makes him an even more remarkable man than we already know the double agent to be.

So glad you didn't consign it to the crapper, Tab...it's good to have you back.

    ~Les~

Author's Response: Thanks Les!  And thanks for helping me through my angst.  Harry is a lovely soul, isn't it.  He's just good.  That's all there is to it.  That's what makes him so fun to write.  Of course, meanness is also fun to write.  LOL  Glad you liked the chapter, Les!  :o)

Well Dang!!! Where are they going? I laughed out loud when i read 'do wizards allow bigamy? For you, they would probably make an exception'...so funny.

I loved seeing Sev's protective instincts come to the fore like they did. What a great dad.

Simon Bavistock needs blowing up...I'd be happy to do it. Arrrgh!!! I hate that man. There could be nothing more come of that little suggestion to Scrimgeour, surely. The man must have been the DL's lawyer...he is so slick he leaves a greasemark.

Great chapter as usual Tab. you put me to shame.

    ~Les~

Author's Response: Thanks.  I can't tell you where they're going though.  Of course not.  Simon does need blowing up, it's true.  But hey, we must have a villain, or else the story would be no fun at all.  :o)

I knew it! I knew he would be there. They mean to much to each other for one of the remaining maruaders to desert his mate at such a time of mental anguish. Good on Sirius. Did he stay in the tunnel?

Poor Tonks. I so hope that she and Remus can forgive and forget. I can see both points of view...I can understand why Remus didn't tell her straight away about his (perhaps) changed life, just in case it didn't happen. They would be so good for each other and Remus has to know that she does love him, As he loves her.

I nearly fell off the couch laughing when Miriam thrust her lace covered breasts into HArry's slack-jawed face. Sev's payback was good, but I think I would have put an inflating charm on those boobs that would last a couple of days before wearing off...see how much she likes a pair of knockers the size of Mt Vesuvius. I mean, enlarge them until she wouldn't be able to eat comfortably because they would get in the way, not to mention that she would have no clothes to fit her for a while. I wonder if Miriam still has a boyfriend. Little trollop! Do you think she knows that HArry is only sixteen?

And if Sev's solution doesn't work, sic Ginny on her!

Loved Ginny and her anger...detention didn't have the desired effect really, did it...she was still absolutely ropable. Don't blame her. If her man had taken that potion, she would have lost him forever. And how desperate is Elizabeth? I mean, did she know that the potion was illegal? She must have, because I doubt that she got the recipe for such a dangerous potion out of the library. Where did she get it?

Ginny is such a little spitfire. Harry had better always be a good little boyfriend. LOL.

Loved Sev's protectiveness of Harry and his obvious worry of what could still be lurking out there. Noticed our wonderful potions master wasn't in the least little bit interested in the bounty on display in the main street of Hogsmeade...forever faithful to the memory of Lily.

Loved it. Loved the whole chapter. As usual.

    Les.

    Author's Response:

Yep, Sirius came through.  Of course he did.  He stayed in the shack with Remus.  They just exited through the tunnel.

Of course Remus knows she loves him, but as Severus said, he's trying to protect her.  It all sort of came crashing down when he 'lost' his job right after Voldemort's defeat.  But we'll see how it goes.

LOL  Poor crazy Miriam.  I was thinking she wasn't much older than Harry...like a year or so, so it's not so crazy that she'd have a little thing for Harry.   And yes, overprotective Severus is very, very fun to write.

Nah, detention didn't really do much good, except to make Ginny a whole lot angrier.  LOL  Hey, Hermione found illegal recipes before so I figured Elizabeth could too, if she was desperate enough.  LOL

And no, Severus was more concerned with plotting a nice way to hex the harlot to pay too much attention to her breasts--she was a bit too young for him anyway.

Glad you liked it, Les!  Thanks so much for the review. :o)

I think Simon Bavistock is ascending to the position of the new Dark Lord, specifically where Harry is concerned. WHY does he want control over Harry, or at least over the person that has charge of Harry?

Harry must feel a bit like an rubber band. He is being stretched so thin between Sirius and Severus, with poor Remus also having to go to bat for the two of them.

The earlier scene where ron spent the night in the dungeons was so nice. Severus is a good dad. He even made sure that Ron ate before he left for classes.

Not sure what is going on with Remus and Tonks, but for a man who should be ecstatic because of his changed circumstances, he is really quite miserable. Does the fact that only three people have definitive proof that Remus is a werewolf mean that in LC's world, there is no Werewolf Registry within the MoM? I always found it a bit of a silly idea anyway. If a registry had been in existence when Remus was at Hogwarts, then heaps of people would have known that Remus was there and being taught amongst their children. surely a WW would have to register as soon as he/she is bitten, or at least, after the first transformation.

As sad as it is to say, Sirius' reappearance in the land of the living is certainly causing an awful lot of problems and heart searching. When will sev and Harry be able to live a normal life, I wonder? And are Sev and Sirius ever going to be on the same page?

Things are getting pretty hairy again, Tab, but very thought provoking.

Can't wait till Monday (or Tuesday here).

    Les~

    Author's Response:

Simon is up to no good, that's all I'll tell you.  Hee hee.

I'm glad you liked the scene with Ron.  That was just a fun tidbit to put in there.  Harry is finally getting to be a normal kid, at least in between Simon's plotting. LOL

No werewolf registry here, or at least Remus never put his name on it.  Why would a werewolf register?  They would have to be suicidal to announce something like that.

Sirius' reappearance is causing a lot of trouble.  It caused a lot of good too though, as his words were the catalyst to help Harry and Severus bust through a lot of their tension.  Sev and Sirius on the same page?  Doesn't seem so likely, I'm afraid.  :o(

LOL  Well, Les, it wouldn't be LC without a little bit of hair.  :oP

Oh, HArry, Harry, Harry. So deluded. SO steeped in denial. Who wouldn't be though, having witnessed a person you love being killed for the second time by the same evil woman. A woman who had targeted your beloved father this second time around. No wonder the poor kid is so very mixed up.

He is also in shock. Severe shock. He is grateful that Sev is there and he seems to be functioning, but he is hinging everything on Sirius being able to come back a second time.

But it is a bit sinister that Harry stepped through the veil in his dream. Does he think that if he goes through it again he will be able to bring Sirius back a second time.

He obviously does not want to leave Sev, so yeah, I think that he thinks he just has to guide Sirius back a second time.

God, keep an eye on him Sev. Do you know what he is thinking? The poor kid is not in his right mind. No nearly 17 year old kid could see all the horrors that HArry has seen and be unaffected. I think this was the strw that broke the camel's back.

And Remus...poor Remus. He has lost his brother again. Or has he lost more than that? Are you infering romantic love here, Tab? A dream that never came true? Tonks is second best, and only because she pushed so hard.

And speaking of Tonks...can there be a little metamorphmagus in the oven, I wonder?

Brilliant chapter. Sev's worry and Remus' worry and devastation came through beautifully.

    Well done you.

    Lesley~
