A story idea that popped out during a bout with insomnia. Harry Potter has had a difficult life, more than anyone knows. What happens when Severus Snape finds out Harry's mind has fractured into multiple personalities under the strain?

At Lily's request, Albus Dumbledore has kept a secret from Severus Snape for 17 years. When Dumbledore learns that this secret plays a vital role in the war, however, it is Snape who is left to deal with the consequences. As Harry's true parentage is revealed, both his and Snape's futures become uncertain. The two must learn to work together in order to survive. PreHBP.

- Well, I've stayed up all night reading your story. Obviously, I found it very enjoyable to read, good suspense, and a very interesting twist that got Harry and Snape "liking" each other. I liked the characterization of Draco.
However, I must admit that I am very disappointed in the ending. I really think that Harry should have been the one to get rid of Voldemort. I feel as though I've just wasted 6 hours of my sleeping time reading about Harry when he wasn't even the one who "saved the world".
Up until chapter 47, I would have rated your story a solid 10 and one of my top fanfics. But the ending was just too unexpected.

Some folks did have trouble with that ending... they REALLY wanted Harry to be the one who did it. But the truth is, he did... without his capacity for love, Voldemort would still be alive. However, I recognize that it's a let-down - and it's meant to be. Harry was gearing up to do this task for the whole series... call me perverse, but I sort of enjoy a pull-the-rug-out-from-under-the-reader ending.

- I just recently found out that there was even such a thing as Harry Potter fanfic and it has been a fun couple of weeks.
I thoroughly enjoyed your story. It was well written and presented some fun and intriguing ideas such as Harry being able to sense magical aurors (spelling?) and his ability able to do away with dark magic.

- Just read your story tonight for the first time. Very, very interesting.
I'm enjoying the fact that Snape and Harry are starting to build a positive relationship (for want of a better description) but yet Snape is still Snape. Too much gooey-sweet Snape would be difficult to believe.
I'm very caught up in the suspense of wondering what will happen.

Voldemort is dead, but the world is going to hell anyway. Harry is forced to go into hiding as Snape's son. Little does he know, it isn't just a useful disguise.

- This is a very interesting Severitus story.
It will be interesting to see how you develop a real relationship between Harry and Severus. I've got to admit, though, that right now I really dislike Severus and Lupin too. Lupin seems pathetically weak and Severus is just plain mean. Which actually they were pretty much in canon, too, so you are doing a good job with the characters in this very new setting.
Author's Response: If one simple word had to be chosen to describe the canon characters of Snape and Lupin, I think "weak" for Lupin and "mean" for Snape would be very good choices. Lupin does have a weak character, and Snape is not a nice person.

- You are writing this story extremely well.
I absolutely detest Lupin -- he seems so weak! I also detest Snape because he is just so Snapeish and feel horribly sorry for Harry who is left with absolutely nothing and no one.
This is a Severitus, so I'm guessing that Snape already knows that he is Harry's father and that's why he has guardianship. He doesn't seem to have any understanding of Harry's previous life or really, any understanding of Harry either. I'm hoping, though, that there is some caring there for Harry that has made him and Lupin concoct this whole plan rather than let Harry be made a ward of Fudge or the ministry.

Snape's never liked Harry, and he hasn't been given any reason for his feelings to change. When you don't like someone, you aren't very motivated to understand them. He's got blinders on, for sure, but he might turn out to have good reason for it.
Snape and Harry are locked in the Room of Requirement by Dumbledore. Harry's magic works, and Snape's doesn't. Will they kill each other? In response to the 72-Hour Challenge.

- I just started reading your story last night. Very interesting. Manipulative Dumbledore for certain. I feel a little sorry for him, but like Harry, I'm also pretty angry with him too.
I was totally shocked by Snape slapping Harry in the face. I've been thinking about that slap all day long. Snape says that he was really frightened when he saw that memory. Was the slap a reaction to that feeling. Is this because he's an abused child himself who finds violence a very easy reaction?
Also, at the very end, what words is Snape doubting? That Harry believes him or that Snape will never hit Harry again?

- This is a very different depiction of Harry. It seems to me that he is hurting so badly that he cannot be the "Boy Who Loves". I'm curious to see if he is going to get through these feelings and how.
