| I am currently a bookseller for Barnes and Noble, a former teacher of preschool & 7th grade English & an obsessed Severus Snape fan, which is why so many of my stories feature him. I love reading other fanfic stories and will leave a review whenever possible and ask you do me the same courtesy. "Read Read me a story, pleeaze Dad" drawn for my Never Again story, by artist SnapesYukuai. Picture refers to the incident where Harry brings his stuffed panther Inky to life through accidental magic. This took place just before that. [Report This]

That was very interesting. About Lucius being Severus' older half-brother. I don't think I've seen that done before. Nice twist! You know the old saying, Satan was Christ's elder brother? The same could apply to Lucius and Sev.
I'm glad Severus is keeping a firm hand and eye on Malfoy, because somebody has to. I wonder what Severus' reaction will be to finding out he was right about Mcgonagall putting Harry on the team?
And yay, Lily is starting to wake up!

This was a good chapter. I liked how Draco and Harry insulted each other and then went to find the unicorn and the disgusting vampiric Voldemort.
Loved Severus' reaction to finding them and his Animagus form was a surprise.
His discipline of Harry was fair, though I do have a question about something else mentioned in the chapter. I'll PM you with it.
I liked how Lily is becoming more aware with each chapter. I hope she wakes up soon.

I really liked the potions class and the comments about Goyle and Neville blowing up the castle. I also think it's a good idea to have Slytherin partner Gryffindor there, that way they won't attempt to ruin each other's potions. I liked the way Sev explained the potion to Hermione, it was well done.
So was the explanation about Severus' past and his parents. I had a feeling that Tobias was the cause of Eileen's death. Poor Severus, stuck with the corrupt Malfoys! I am glad that Lily forgave him and got help, although if Dumbledore was there, he could have stopped Sev's fall with that spell he used on Harry at the Quidditch match. Why didn't he just throw a Body Bind on Severus? I'm glad the cousins know the truth now.
I noticed one mistake. Severus is speaking about Tobias and says,
You also began to drink—and when he was drunk he could be very mean and hurtful.
It should be "he" also began to drink.
Will Lily wake up next chapter?

Hi!
I reviewed this a few days ago and don't know why it didn't post. Oh well, maybe it timed out? Had that happen before.
Anyway, just wanted to say I loved the chapter especially the end with Lily and Harry and Sev! So sweet! I also liked that Severus took them to see the Longbottoms to show how bad the DE really are. Seeing concrete damage makes it more real to kids than if they're just told that such and such did evil things.

All, right this is my second attempt to post a review.
Loved the whole chapter! I did notice that you've been calling the Gryffindor portrait the Pink Lady, but it should be the Fat Lady. Though I kinda like the first one better, it's also a good drink. There were a few typos, but I can't remember them now.
Here were some things I particularly liked in this chapter.
The beginning, when Harry is worried that Wood will kick him off the team. He thinks, Would Wood get rid of me? That line cracked me up, because it reminded me of the whole "how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" One of my brother-in-law's favorite sayings.
When Snape asks Harry to breakfast, that was sweet, and also when Draco says a romance between Ron and Hermione is revolting. I agree with him!
Meeting Lucius--Sev's inner comments were hilarious, especially when he thought about cutting off Lucius' family jewels and making him eat them . . . with some fava beans and a nice chianti, right? LOL!
I also liked when they visited Lily and she finally explained to Severus why she did what she did and he forgave her. Hope she gets well soon!

In the beginning you said that Christmas break was only a week away, but it was December 1st. Don't you mean 2 weeks away? Because they still have finals to take, it would be way too early to end the term in the second week of December. Third week makes more sense.
I liked the talk between Harry and Draco, it was nice and the snowball fight.
The conversation between Severus and Dumbledore had me confused though. I did think it was rather unfair of him to spring Tobias on him like that. He should have asked Severus how he felt about the man, because it's rather awkward to just hire a man that you know has a past history of bad blood with one of your employees and just expect them to get along with each other. He's really not considering Severus' feeling at all. But then again, he never did when he was a student either. I had to laugh when he said he really didn't favor James, what bull!
But the part I was confused about was his relationship to Eileen. I thought you told me he was going to be a bachelor and only related to Severus as an uncle, and Abe was going to be the grandfather. Why did you change it?
I liked his talk with Lily, but she also needs to remember that forgiveness is something that comes when the person is ready to forgive, it can't be forced, the way Dumbledore is trying to do. Pressuring Severus into forgiving Tobias isn't going to work. He has to be ready and right now he doesn't trust the man, which is understandable.

Great chapter! I hope they grow closer over the holidays.
But it will take time to get over the past.
Why was it that Albus never acknowledged Eileen as his daughter? And why would he allow his own grandson to be bullied by the Marauders, even if one of them was his other grandson? I don't quite get why he wouldn't make an attempt to stop the Marauders from doing what they did, or why he didn't persuade Severus that he had something left to live for besides the dark path?

Sounds like they had a fun time shopping and everyone will get what they most want for Christmas. Of course the best present is one you can't buy--a family.
I'm glad Dumbledore took discovering Lily's alive as well as he did and also that Severus is Harry's son.
It's good to see that Toby and Sev are getting along. Can't wait to see Christmas and what Ron says about Severus being Harry's dad.
The jewelry sounds beautiful.
Oh, and I've updated Lily's Defender again. Severus finally sees Lily after all those years.

This was a sweet chapter! I enjoyed all the gifts and the visit with Lily. Homemade gifts are the best kind, because you can tell that a lot of care and love goes in them, so the chess sets and the album were really great gifts from Tobias. I'm glad that they all had a nice Christmas. But if Severus ever knew about the invisibility cloak Harry got I think he'd roast Albus!
Author's Response: Thanks, Kathy. You're supports has been awesome!

Great job! I liked how Severus actually explained WHY Harry shouldn't be roaming around the castle or touching the books in the Restricted Section, which is something no other teacher ever seemed to mention. I'm also glad he took the cloak from him, it's really not something an eleven year old needs to have.
He was fair with his punishment and it was so cute to have Harry finally call him Dad. Aww!
And I liked the end scene with Sev, Lily and Harry together. So sweet!
