About me:

I have been writing fan fiction for the Harry Potter series since 2007.  I blame my boss, who told me about this wonderful, whacky world of fans writing impossible stories for tales that they love.  I generally write strange pairings when i'm not focused on the fguardian relationship between harry and Severus.  My other works can be found on Archive of Our Own under the same pen-name, though be warned, some are fairly dark.

I am a red head (go gingers!), a dog groomer by trade, close to half a century old, and am also an avid animal lover.  In my spare time, I care for three dogs and a husband who is not only odd, but comes from the island of Borneo.  While he doesn't share my affinity for telling tales, he does love animals and has a terrific sense of humor that shows itself at odd times.  I am the proud step-monster to three children and step-grandmonster to one and half grandchildren  (My oldest daughter is due in September! (Woot!)

Thanks for reading this, and feel free to check out my stories.

Darkness swallowed Severus's childhood and is threatening to engulf Harry's. Will the man recognize himself in the boy before history repeats itself? [Generally short chapters due to (almost) daily updates]

I loved the authenticity of Harry's letter.

It's nice to see the Malfoys be decent in a story. I think if the situation in cannon had been different, they would have been okay to be around.

Good job on the chapter. Mourning is always so hard to write.

    Author's Response:

Thanks ^^ I think the Malfoys have some first rate qualities, e.g. their love for each other, and, had Harry accepted Draco's hand in the beginning, the situation might have evolved very differently. I'm glad you liked Harry's letter; it's the first time I've written one from him and I really wanted to show that, although he is bright and empathetic, he's still very much a child. (In his academic acheivements, I've put Harry at the level which he should have reached in the canon if he'd applied himself. In the canon he spends most of his year mucking around with Ron, playing chess, exploding snap and generally frittering away study time.)

Mourning is hard to write because people mourn in so many ways; some go numb- for weeks, months, even years, others become furiously angry, many go into denial and a few, the luckiest ones, are able to weep and heal. And, of course, people go through good minutes and bad minutes, so there's inconsistancy but, at the same time, one has to be consistant in that inconsistancy or the character's behaviour won't be realistic. I hope that my portrayal of mourning was believable.

I just realised that I haven't commented on your portrayal of Blaise. I really like his little non-sequitors and aloofness. He seems like the person in cannon, but also well-developed.

    thanks for the update.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I'm glad you like my portrayal of Blaise; the canon character is a real gift to any fanfic writer as 1. we only see him in book 6 and, secondly, we're only given snippets of information, both of which grant a writer a great deal of scope for developing his personality because, of course, what he is at 15/16 isn't what he was as an impressionable 11 year old. Blaise is one of my favorite characters to write: he's inspired a little by Oscar Wilde, who was a very kind man with a dry, cutting wit.

Lovely ending, an a much better one than sending Harry back to Surrey to spend a miserable two months with his horrible relatives.

Thanks for the final update. I'll be anxiously awaiting the sequel.

Author's Response: Thank you. I know, I always felt so sorry for Harry at the end of each of the canon books: this summer is going to have it's trials and tribulations but it's going to be a lot happier- and safer- than Harry's summer in the canon.

What do we know of great heroes and evil villains? Nothing: we can only base our ideas upon the facts and opinions disclosed to us by others. History is written by the winners. Tom Riddle is not Voldemort.

Aw, shoot! I came to the end and don't know what happens next! Great job on this major overhaul. I really like that you took some time to explain the 'creature' aspect of the story rather than just assuming it should make sense.

When the great granddaughter of Aberforth Dumbledore moves to Britain to be close to her fiancé, and is hired to teach Magical History at Hogwarts, Severus Snape and Lucy O'Conner discover that sometimes fate (or six-year-old Harry) has a way of throwing a wrench into life's best laid plans.
