Sickly and neglected by his caregivers, little Harry would not have survived were it not for the mysterious dark angel who watched over him, caring for him when he was sick. Harry never knew his name, until he attended Hogwarts and discovered a certain teacher bore a remarkable resemblance to his savior.

It is good that Sev took care of Harry and that Harry realised that at least one person cared and loved him. That thought would have kept Harry's hopes up and kept him sane being with those awful muggles. I know Sev will continue caring for him and the same way Sev thinks of Harry as a secret son I am sure Harry would look to Sev as a secret Dad

Author's Response: Yes anf God knows he would need something to keep his hopes up while being locked in a cupboard and starved.  And now that Severus's secret is out, Harry will be able to express his gratitude and love towards him.

I know that Sev will continue to be an angel for Harry while at Hogwarts. Maybe he could set up something so Madam Pomphrey could give Harry a check up or he could do it himself so they could discover things like him wearing the wrong glasses etc. Would like to see Sev "anonymously" sending Harry decent clothes to wear (for outside school hours) as all Harry would have is his school clothes (Hagrid did not let him buy anything that was not on the school list). I am glad that Harry told Sev about discovering his identity because now they could develop a really great relationship.

Author's Response: Yes, Severus will eventually discover that Harry needs better glasses and he could also send him clothes as well.  Their relationship will continue to grow secretly, of course, during the course of the year.

I think Sev was counting to a hundred in his mind trying not to put the boy over his knees. Harry realises that Severus is starting to see him as a son and Harry is starting to think of him as a dad, with this in his mind I think Harry is forgetting himself and forgetting that Sev is a teacher. While Draco did rile him Harry was rude and deserves to be punished and I know Sev will punish him but will he punish him like any other student or will he punish him like he would his son.
Harry knows that he is wrong he might feel badly and realise for himself that he was rude the man who loves him and who took care of him and might be afraid that Sev will no longer treat him like that and that he has spoilt a great relationship; his guilt should make him miserable and Sev should notice that the boy does feel guilty

Author's Response: Yes, Severus was practicing a great deal of control there, I think it shocked him that Harry could totally speak to him with such disrespect, even given the circumstances.  As for Sev's punishment, you'll see next chapter.  Harry does feel extremely guilty for talking to him that way, and Severus will realize that next chapter as well.

The punishments were just and I love that Sev gave him a hug afterwards and told him he was forgiven. Very good love the father son relationship that is developing

Author's Response: Severus here is behaving like a real dad would after punishing his child, though Harry doesn't realize it yet since he's never had a real dad.  Their relationship will continue to grow, though not without some more misunderstandings etc along the way.

Forgot he had the bracelet and thank god he did because now Sev will save him, I'm sure it was Quirell... Glad that Draco got a dressing down that he deserved and fortunately for him he was in his dorm otherwise he could have been blamed for Harry's attack.
Love that even though Hermione is very concerned about the rules and constantly reminding the boys she still helps them in their rule braking, she is just as adventurous as the two boys

Author's Response: yes he could have.  Of course, that's something only the readers know, that Draco wasn't the cause of Harry's fall.  However, none of the others know that, except for Severus.  And you're right about Hermione, she has a good sens eof adventure, but also a good dose of common sense too.  But that's something that most boys that age lack and girls have, i think.

Love the relationship seen at breakfast ...I find the personal thoughts great especially Harry’s realisation that he knows Sev better than anyone and sees a side of him that no one else sees I think that this side is the raw Sev him without any masks. Ron is a child in many ways but (I know Hermione is going to realise very soon if not already) Ron should soon realise that Harry does not like anyone to say anything bad about Professor Snape. Love that Snape sent Harry the broom and that Harry told Ron it was a friend of his mom...this would be good to establish this “uncle” so anytime Sev gives Harry anything he could say his uncle gave it to him maybe he could use Sev’s middle name so the others would know of Harry’s “Uncle Tobias (Toby)” and would not connect it to Professor Snape

Author's Response: It is indeed the side of the professor without the mask, the side that only Harry sees.  Eventually I think Hermione will notice Harry's reluctance to badmouth Sev and Ron perhaps as well.  That's an interesting idea about "Uncle Toby" and I thank you for suggesting it.  If I use it, I'll give you credit for thinking of it.  It's a great idea of how to explain where all the gifts Severus will provide him with are coming from.

Title: Chapter 11: Countercurse 21 Aug 2008

While the detention was gruesome enough to deter them (temporary) from any adventures in the near future I think Harry was punished more by having Sev be disappointed in him. Sev did what a good father should do give a good smack and then hug him like he never wanted to let him go and then tell him he is forgiven. I never considered that Sev could have been burnt or injured during Hermione’s distraction, that is a good addition. I like Minerva’s character I am getting the impression that the same way Sev is Harry’s Guardian Angel , Minerva was/is Sev’s Guardian Angel

Author's Response: Yes, he was, and the disappointment will be remembered long after the detention. Severus is trying very hard to give Harry the love and affection he never had and so far he is succeeding. I figured it made sense that Sev would have gotten burned during that part, since it was real fire, though summoned magically.  And you're right about Minerva, she has appointed herself Sev's guardian, much as he might insist he doesn't need one, secretly he enjoys having someone else care about him.  She sort of takes the place of Eileen.

Title: Chapter 12: Tea and Ten Laps 21 Aug 2008
Reviewer: Keats (Signed)
I have a lot of patients when it comes to children, but I really really wanted to slap Ron, but then again I know what Sev is like but Ron is just so so... argh. And Hermione very casually talking about attacking Sev, Hagrid had a right to scold them and knowing Hagrid he wouldn't squeal on them but they have to know what they did was wrong even though they thought they were protecting Harry they can't do that by hurting others. Thought Harry would have screamed at Ron and Hermione.

Author's Response: Unfortunately, Ron is very prejudiced when it comes to Slytherins, a product of his brothers' teaching and also his own shortsightedness.  I know how you feel, I wanted to smack him myself.  Hagrid would never tell, but he does want to make sure that they know what they did was wrong.  He'll stress that again later on.  And Harry almost did lose it there, but he managed to control himself.

Three cheers for Uncle Toby giving Harry not only new clothes and shoes but the best Christmas gift ever - fixing Harry's eyes that was just fantastic and just being there for him as well. Sev is just fantastic. Love Harry’s gift too I wonder he didn’t tell them that he baked them himself – it usually means a lot more when you make it yourself
Am so happy that Harry could walk with pride in his new clothes I just hope that he does not let it go to his head...as it obviously is for Ron, while it is good to be able to get back at Malfoy once in a while (just hope Ron does not get too jealous of Harry getting these expensive things).
While I usually agree with your punishments and while I would normally agree with Harry receiving time outs as someone who was into sports it is very difficult to have a twenty minute time out after heavy training and then to start back running again your body would have cooled down, though I guess those Harry’s age just seem to more excess energy. I must say however that the best cure for sore muscles is to stretch them out and to exercise them out, so good call on that one.
    Enjoy your vacation

    Author's Response:

My brother used to run laps and stuff in football, so he told me how the coaches used to punish a player for getting snotty with them, so I used that, plus Sev's time out and Harry does have plenty of energy to spare, believe me.  Actually, Harry did tell Ron that he baked the gingerbread himself, but not Sev just then.  Though he will mention it later.  And Ron will never miss an opportunity to snipe at Malfoy, and vice versa.  Have no fear that Harry will become arrogant, he knows better.

I'm so excited that I finally have an internet connection! I've just posted a new chapter of Angel.

Sev's Animagus form is very cool and perfect for protecting Harry. I think Harry's dream in the end means that instinctively Harry realised that Sev is the leopard. I'm sure that Harry's patronus will be a leopard as well

Author's Response: Perhaps he does.  Sometimes the subconscious knows things that the conscious mind does not.  As for Harry's Patronus, it could be a leopard.
