Wouldn't of the two old ladies and the crowd listening, have thought it weird or at least reacted to Harry calling his "father" Severus? Anyway, poor Harry, not sure whether he would of stayed in that reality or not though? Wouldn't of Dumbledore of made a point to talk to Severus before he returned as a contingency plan? you tell him to tell Harry that he must return or that he understands if he wants to stay in that reality and not return? It seems like a thing Dumble's would of certainly done, unless it he had a hand in switching them in the first place. Moreover what did Snape do in Severus' bedroom when he was stuck in that reality? Surely he would of in a fit of temper or disguist ripped up all Harry's cards and paintings leaving poor Severus to come back to find little of his 'real' son's mementos left.
Okay so i'm rambling. The above prob doesn't make sense. But I do honestly like this story and sincerely look forward to future chapters.
    Cecilia.

After Harry is caught for exploding a cauldron in 2nd year Potions, Snape insists he keep a firm hand on the boy he must secretly protect. However, he discoveres that there is more to the twelve year old than unruliness and disrespect. Similarly, Harry learns from and gains a new perspective of his professor.

Wow *Huge grin* brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I can't believe its over now. Thanks so much for sharing this story with all of us out here in cyberspace and for making me laugh, cry, hid behind my pillow, and shout at my computer screen for the past couple of months. I'm so sad that its over, you've created such a fantastic relationship, i love how Snape calls Harry 'child' when he's in a good mood and 'potter' when he's angry with him. I love Harry's wit and how Snape struggles not to react to it, that little bit about Madam Pomprey had me in stitches :D
Arh what am i going to do now, no more staring at my computer screen willing there to be updates, no more brilliant chapters to digest but the conciliary hint at a 'sequel' brightens my mood slightly. I hope you write more, it would be the proverbial icing on the cake, ohh the possibilities are endless, you could have any flavour that you want, pumpkin, gherkin...Maybe not.
I hope you do continue to write and bring your - for they are yours now- characters back to life for us. Well congratulations again on a job done well, your Harry and Snape are wonderful, here's to their future(?- well i had to try!). :)))
    Cecilia

    Author's Response:

Ah, Cecilia, you're quite the flatterer, I must say ;)  Thank you for reviewing so many of my latest chapters of EE.  It's been wonderful reading your thoughts, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it the whole way through.

What I plan to do is finish my Sirius/Harry story over at ff.net, and then I'll possibly think about writing a sequel.  I need to get a good plot worked out, and if I do, I'll be all set.  ObsidianEmbrace and I are also going to try and co-author a story...if we can figure out how to do it...lol...but I'm used to writing two stories at once, so that project won't push EE2 out of the way--if there *is* such a thing... *wink*

I appreciate your enthusiasm for this story.  I miss little Harry already.  *sniff*

Harry receives a very special gift on his 16th birthday that leads him to the help he needs...Snape is finding respite from his growing pressures and discovers one in need of help. Despite himself, he finds he CAN grow close to another living being. Only..."everything would've been so much simpler if it'd actually been a cat"...

I love this chapter, and i love this story, i can't say anymore than that. Its just really really good. Grrr i wish i could read french and then i'd know what happens next! lol.
    Can#t wait for new updates.
    Cecilia.

Author's Response: thank you very much, I can't tell when the next update will be but with some luck, soon enough *handles chocolate frogs to Claire and RaeWhit* ;-)

Fantastic, you make Snape do exactly what he doesn't want to do and to admit something that he thought he wouldn't in a million years give up. :). And Harry's recollection of his being a cat was great, I felt bad for him reading it and just as uncomfortable as he! He likes being a cat, but then again feels embarassed and mortified at being Snape's pet! lol. Brill.
The end image you left us with was lovely, Snape with the cat curled in asleep in his arms, his pet, but he's acting now with the knowledge that the cat is actually Harry, he can't see him as just 'the cat' any longer no matter how much he tries. Although you get the feeling that he thinks his life would be a lot less complicated if the cat remained the cat- screw the world- I think he wants a companion just one who can't speak back.
Oh you can almost feel the heat of the twinkle of mischief in Dumbledore's eye... you just know he wants to put them together and the cogs in his mind are trying to work out a tenable way to do it. Oh i do like your Dumbledore, he seems right, not too over bearing, malicious or callous but the benevolent old grandfather i always pictured him as.
Can't wait for the next update.
    Cecilia.

    Author's Response:

Oh yes, Snape is very stubborn indeed, it takes some devious way to make him actually change his mind :-) Poor Harry is not over with humiliating situations, trust me ;-)

Both thoe too can't really pretend that nothing happened, nor do they want to ! It happened at some special time for both of them, and they really do understand somehow that they need each other... though it will not be easy to keep !

Dumbledore is actually a problem for me to keep IC, and I might be over the line sometimes, making him too emotional, but he will have a big part to play in this story, indeed !

Thank you for the nice review ;-)

I like the imaginative way that you overcome the problem of the slavery relationship in this chapter changing its face, allowing it to bring Harry and Snape closer, to allow Snape to see Harry in a new light and to come to care with an intensity that shrugs off superficiality. Its also interesting to see how much the slavery spell has affected to Snape- for the better?- his life has been turned upside down by Harry's presence, he has to share his life with another now and has the power of life and death in his hands, he has to walk on egg shells around Harry lest he cause the spell to think that Harry's defying him or attacking him. That little scene where Snape somes across Harry in the throes of a nightmare but realises that he can't comfort him was heartbreaking.
Can't wait for more chapters, keep them coming please ;) Cecilia

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!  Yes, Severus has also been greatly affected by the spell, but in his case it is a positive change.  He was content before, but only because he'd never really  had someone to share his life with, someone that he could care for anyway, and he doesn't even realise yet how much that means to him.  But he will.  And yep, it can be tricky trying to work around the spell, but Severus is determined to be very careful.

Arh I love this part of the story, they're just starting to really understand and care for one another. I liked how Harry wanted to make Snape happy not just out of fear but out of feeling. And I love awkward, nerve-crunching endings, where you feel strangely Happy for the characters but embarassed for them as well.
    Bravo.
And no it's not pathetic to start a group for a story that is brilliant in every sense of the word, and which has more than 15 chapters!
Things are warming up, can't wait for the next installment.
    Cecilia :)

    Author's Response:

Thank you!  We're starting to get to the fun part of the story for me too.  I'm looking forward to the next few chapters.

Thank you, too, for your kind words about "The Prince and the Seeker".  I started to wait on beginning the group because there's still just so much that will happen in SC, and I thought it might make more sense to wait til later when there might be more to talk about...but then I thought 'what the heck...go ahead and do it', lol.

*Hides behind pillow*. That was exhausting to read, (in a good way), I feel like I've been wrestling with a hundred emotions. I must admit the beginning completely threw me i was very confused until half way through the chapter as to what was actually going on, but like all good action writers that was obviously intentional and had the desired affect on the reader, hence my confusion and anticipation. Its not often that i start a chapter by gulping, but "Dark arms embraced him" did it for me. And it just continued on from there, the story caught me and spat me back out at the end. :) Your whole approach was really thought out, you didn't just write, they went behind the veil, there was nothing, they met Sirius, off they hopped to find Harry, met Harry, banished Voldie for good, yadada and they lived happily ever after. Nooo, your far more cunning than that, like a murder mystery writer you make us wait, keep us jumping with twists and "not-quite-what-it-seems-scenes".
I do hope that they save Harry, and I'm glad that I haven't the foggest how they're going to do it. I only hope that Severus manages to come out of it in one piece, he's already damaged from his last encounter with Tom, and he had it worse than Harry. *Fingers* crossed.
    Cecilia.
I have an inkling though that the next chapter may involve lily?

Author's Response: LOL  Well, I do enjoy being called cunning.  Hee hee.  I feel that way sometimes.  And I do love a good mystery.  And emotions, well I am excited you felt them so much in this chapter.  I am not even sure I understand all the emotions zooming around in his nowhere-space.  LOL  Hope you'll enjoy the next one as much.  I just loved your review.  You tickle me.  Thanks so much.  :o)

Was it love that caused Voldie's soul to be banished? The same kind of love sacrifice Harry's mum made the first time over??

Author's Response: Ding, ding, ding!  You got it, Cecilia!  Chocolate frogs for you!  WOOT.  Thanks for reading and reviewing, as always and a big pat on the back for you.

When Harry wakes one morning, he discovers a badly injured Snape in his living room, and tries to hide him. But Petunia discovers them and reveals a secret she has kept for thirteen years--one that will change the course of Harry's life forever, and Severus's as well. AU, pre-GOF.

Who's 'Joseph Campbell'? Hehe Matron Mavis, what a brilliant name.

Author's Response: I'm a mythology buff, so I had to put him in there. LOL! And I don' t know where I got Mavis from, but I thought it fit perfectly.  Thanks for reviewing!
