(Seeing as I figure that would be MY house, I am paying him a compliment!) Author's Response: LOL! I think you're right. Harry's loyalty and "saving people thing" would make him a great 'Puff. :)
Author's Response: Sorry for the lack of clarity - they were referring to James. :)
GREAT chapter!!!! Author's Response: Glad I could provide some Girl Power!! ;)
Author's Response: LOL! Yes, I think that attitude of "whatever it takes" coupled with Sev's Slytherin cunning is going to make the whole battle with Voldemort a whole lot different in this AU....
Author's Response: Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. :) And yes, Sev definitely is not noted for his diplomacy...
Of course, the juveniles up at the staff table don't need hugs! The Hooch-Severus exchange left me breathless with laughter!! Another great chapter!!! Author's Response: Thank you. I never understood why there wasn't more attention to this in canon, and in this AU, it just felt right for Harry to try to withdraw a bit, but without inconveniencing anyone else. And, of course, it provided a beautiful opportunity to bring in the troll! And yes, the so-called adults at the staff table are worse than the first years in my opinion! :)
Loved this chapter! Author's Response: LOL! I'm so glad you liked it! I quite agree that Ron was pretty clever in insisting his "uncle" and not his brothers get first crack at him. :) I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed the troll encounter in this AU and that you found the kids' reaction to be refreshingly normal. I always thought the kids in canon were a little too stoic considering all the horrors they saw!
Author's Response: Ha ha ha! Yes, he does, doesn't he? I think most dads (or uncles) are a bit stymied when having to deal with more than the usual number, so I agree with you that Snape does a pretty impressive job, especially for a novice. (Though of course that Slytherin nature of his would let him play with Gryffindor minds!) I've never understood the fanfics that make Snape a heavy handed disciplinarian - why would a Slytherin find it necessary to hurt his own hand paddling little boys' behinds when his words should be able to cause even more anguish and guilt?? <snicker> Now *that's* Slytherin!!! ;)
Author's Response: I'm so happy to hear you found the chapter so affecting. :) I really wanted to bring out Sev's anguish at misreading the situation and walloping Harry (even if it didn't really hurt). But I also wanted to show that Snape could not only relate to Harry's grief but also wanted to do something for the boy to *show* that he understood.
Of course, I always enjoy when that pointy head butts up against that black clad breastbone - and it happened twice this chapter, so that makes me a happy Hufflepuff! Author's Response: Exactly right - I intended it to show that Harry was feeling secure enough to push the limits and test (subconsciously) Snape's commitment. :) |
