- Even serving detention Harry seems to attract trouble!!! It is such a good thing he has good friends and a fearsome professor to look out after him. Your whole take on Quirrel menacing Harry at Quidditch was SUCH fun - I particularly like his (probably) involuntary catching of the snitch on his way down.
Hey, this means we are going to get another Gryffindor/Slytherin Quidditch match, with Harry as seeker, right?!?!

- Oh, the last paragraph gets me going everytime I read it!!! Such a great chapter - I love the details on Snape's machinations for the two Marauders, and hearing about the continued torment of the Dursley's. The scene at breakfast was priceless - and I really like how Hootch is still irritated at Severus and is still showing it!! I hope, hope, hope we get a chance to see a meeting of the Inter-House Friendship and Holiday Decorating Committee!

- Wonder if Harry read any Hardy Boys when he was at Privet Drive?? I could see him thinking it would be great to solve a mystery, just like the Hardy brothers! He is quite the manipulator too, convincing Hermione to go along with the investigation.
I loved the shopping trip to Diagon Alley. Snape thinking it would be a form of punishment almost, and Harry thinking it means his guardian is giving him a huge treat! I almost hope they never figure out that their expectations are almost always at cross purposes!
Another great chapter!

- What a breathtaking chapter!!! Your trio used cunning strategy, and basic first year magic to defeat the Dark Lord - I so loved it! Once again Hermione's muggle background comes into play (magic or no, guys will be guys will be guys!) The image of the faculty bursting into the hospital, with Flitwick flying above is also terrific.
I love how you have taken the canon and tweaked it in your own way!!!!

I wanted to keep things "realistic" (or at least canon-based, since I guess the whole magical universe thing isn't exactly "realistic"), and I'm delighted to hear you feel I succeeded. - I am so glad that your Harry had a reassuring talk about what he did to Quirrell. I never quite understand how canon Harry walked through his years trauma free with all the things he went through (and did!) Snape is GOOD DAD in this chapter, and I love it.
Author's Response: Snape really is a great parent, isn't he? And he gets extra points for all his efforts, too. :) I know what you mean about canon Harry. In some ways he is too unaffected by what he sees and does, and in other ways, he is much too squeamish and traumatized by it... I tried in this AU to strike a balance between what is a normal 11 year old's reaction and what is the kind of outlook Snape must cultivate for Harry... Glad you're enjoying it. :)

- Awe... so sweet at the end, Severus going on the "parents" tour with Harry, imagining what it would be like for it to be real! He just can't see how attached Harry is to him! I loved the conference with the parents also - Ron getting his special moments with his Mom and Dad were very sweet too!

LOL! I know - Snape is going to have to get with the program pretty soon and realize how much Harry adores him, but remember: in canon, Snape clung fiercely to his preconceptions despite plenty of evidence to the contrary. This Snape is going to be just as obstinate!
And yes, it was fun to see Ron as the center of the Weasley universe for a change, wasn't it?

- I like your Sirius so very much - he is charming, funny, not particularly brilliant and about Harry's age maturity wise!!! Harry could have a lot of fun with his godfather - but he does seem to know who will take the best care of him, doesn't he?! I hope we do see Harry and Snape working on the animagus training. Snape would be great as a bat, wouldn't he? Harry would make such a cute baby/teenish animal - maybe a tiger or lion, or a even a bear!
Of course, Snape is very brave to take Harry to see Sirius, fearing as he does that they will bond and Harry would leave Snape. Awwwww... what a thoughtful guardian....

- I loved the chat between Remus and Severus that ended this chapter. He made a reasonable case for THIS Sirius being willing to let Snape continuing as Harry's guardian. The apologies of the two Gryffindors were so overdue, and I am glad that Severus heard them for what they were and did not out of hand reject them.
By the way - any possibility that the next time the Dursley family shows up the male contingent will be sporting healthy, handsome physiques?? Not what Severus would expect at all - that he is HELPING them with the terror campaign!!!

- More Slytherin maneuvering!! Severus knows just what buttons to push with Harry to get the results he wants - of course as a Head of House for the past years he has had lots of experience with hot headed preteens/teens, and it shows! I also loved how he was ready to panic himself when Mooney the werewolf leapt forward, but was calm for Harry.
The grownups(??!) really shine in this chapter, but it was fun to see Harry stun them all with the news of Wormtail residing in Hogwarts. I like that they all managed to FINALLY take him seriously.

- Harry's scheme was just brilliant!! Frightening too, but brilliant! Of course Severus'hissed threats were perfect - so nice for him to see that he can still scare the cr*p out of most students just by talking!
I liked hearing about the Gryffindors and their study visits to Slytherin. It is nice to have a different take on that house and how they act amongst themselves. I really like that they accept Harry and all his friends as well, and treat them all just like they treat their firsties!
Another great chapter!
