Nice. The only thing I found wrong was when you described McGonagall lying on the bed... if the sheets were red with blood they would be deep red, not light red. I've never seen light red blood. Otherwise a good story.

    Author's Response:

Thanks for reviewing. With the light red, I probably meant that she wasn't bleeding heavily- not describing the blood, but rather the way it was absorbed into the sheets, that the quantity was so small. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but that's for catching that.

Severus Snape and Harry Potter think that they know everything about each other. However, when Headmaster Dumbledore persuades his Potions Master to give duelling lessons to the youngest Triwizard Champion, events unfurl which will change both their lives forever. 2010 Challenge Fest entry. Sounds interesting so far, but I'm not sure if I like it or not. The whole idea of King James attacking Hogwarts... I just don't see it, although everything was described very nicely.

    Author's Response:

I'm glad you found it interesting at least ^^. King James I was obsessed with Witchcraft and not in a good way. He attended the North Berwick Witch Trials, the first major persecution of witches since the Witchcraft Act, and wrote the Daemonology, a book opposing the practice of witchcraft. If the man had known of Hogwarts (a distinct possibility, considering the pressures under which muggleborns would be put to denounce their fellow mages), it is entirely probable that he would have attacked the castle. Also, I really needed a powerful reason for Myrridin to perform the rite and an attack on Hogwarts by the muggle army seemed an interesting plot device: JK Rowling, herself, says in 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard' that witch-hunters did, occasionally, kill witches and wizards, i.e. Nearly-Headless Nick, and that children were especially at risk. As most duelling spells work only on one person at a time, it doesn't take a genius to work out that, in a fight with twenty muggles to every wizard, Hogwarts could be wiped off the face of the earth. I really wanted to get a feeling of despair and urgency so that Myrridin's martyrdom was just that- a martyrdom. Thanks for the review.

Punching Dumbledore... that one's new. You did so well keeping Snape in character up until that point... hm...

Author's Response: At the end of HBP, when Harry called him a coward, Severus lost control and slapped him, albiet magically. Therefore, I thought it would be entirely in character for him to snap and clock Dumbledore for allowing Harry to be abused simply because it would prepare him for his destiny better than a loving home would. I'm glad that you think Snape was otherwise in character, however.

Wow, I never even saw that coming, Hagrid as a dad? Sounds interesting and I look forward to reading more!

    Author's Response:

Thanks. I thought that, in the current circumstances, Severus would decide not adopt Harry himself, they need time to heal their relationship and, if Harry felt forced into a subordinate position, that would only set them further back. As Hagrid is physicially powerful, less susceptable to curses, lives in Hogwarts and, most importantly, loves Harry as a son (and vice versa), he seemed an obvious choice for a father figure.

Some lines in this chapter were confusing... when somebody grabbed Ron and dragged him outside... I had no idea where Harry was, what was happening... it was just awkward was all. He was thinking about life and then the next second somebody was there dragging Ron away, then McGonagall was there asking him inside her office... it would have been good to know where Harry was in the first place.

    Author's Response:

Harry was in transfiguration class: "Having spent most of his Transfiguration class staring out of the window, Harry was not wholly surprised when, at the end of lesson, Professor McGonagall rather sharply asked him to stay behind". Hermione (the petite, bushy-haired witch), was dragging Ron outside because she was angry with him, thinking that their feud was the reason why Harry was distracted and, therefore, about to recieve a ticking off from McGonagall. I wanted to create the sence that Harry was stumbling through his school day with his head in the clouds and, therefore, I used subtle markers of events rather than heavily marking people and places. Unfortunately, it seems that this might have meant that the circumstances were not too clear.

Harry shares an unforgettable detention with Snape. One-shot.

    Awesome and imaginative!

Author's Response: Many thanks! It was terrific fun pushing the envelope in this story! Oh, if only I had access to a Room of Requirement... I could USE a beach today! Minus the shark, of course! Thanks so much for taking the time to review!

So funny. I wish you would have written more. I think this would be a great start to a longer story, even just a few more chapters.

Author's Response: Thank you very much! I'm glad you that liked it. :). Yeah, I had a lot of fun writing it, but I'm just not motivated enough to finish something longer...:).

Nice, but I wish your stories were longer.

Author's Response: I wrote about thirty of them in one night...I had a "drabble-length-moment-of-writing" binge. :). Thank you, for your review. I'm glad that you like them. :)
