Following the death of Sirius, Harry isn't sure what to make of the sudden appearance of a six-year-old boy. The pair form a bond, unaware they're half-brothers, and Harry decides to take the boy to Hogwarts and hide him there. To aide the boy's education, Harry anonymously exchanges letters with Snape.

A story of a how a young boy becomes a father-figure to another while their own father is oblivious of their biological existence. But can sixteen-year-old Harry give what he himself has not gained? Can he go an entire year without being discovered? Just how far will Severus go to find the writer of those letters...Or are some things best left unknown?

    I wonder if perhaps the door closed because Dumbledore was hiding there invisible and Harry just thought he had closed it on his own? It was just a thought since Dumbledore knows how to go invisible without a cloak, and since he knows about Harry and Toby. I can't imagine him knowing and just letting it go on without checking on them every now and again... unless Dobby has been reporting back?

    Great as always! I can't wait for more! Seeing a new chapter brightened my day!

    Author's Response: And interesting theory, however no, it wasn't Dumbledore this time. Although yes, he is getting reports from more than one source, having to keep tabs on the boys, of course.

    I think I'm still wanting to see Severus find out about Toby first before finding out about Harry, and then have him take Toby from Harry and then tell Harry to stay away from his son. I think that could be a tense moment, and lead to other angsty moments later on when Harry and Severus discover the truth about Harry later.

    You had Harry and Snape writing back and forth earlier in the book, but not since then. Have you abandoned that idea?

    Great story as usual!

    Author's Response: That is the plan, Severus will know about Toby before he knows about Harry. As for the taking Toby, not sure if that's how it's going to pan out yet, I haven't got that far ahead in planning although I've started it. The writing back and forth has not at all been abandoned, there are reason for it taking longer and it's because of those writing them. I am keeping this up again soon, it's a timing matter too.

    I like it, but I'm almost never really a fan of stories where there is some other family member aside from Severus involved. That's just personal preference though. You're doing fine. Keep it up and update soon! I'm always so happy to look and see updates to your story!

    1) They could just storm the castle
    2) They could find out somehow about one of the secret passages into the castle from Hogsmead
    3) They could charm themselves to breath under water and swim in and under the castle (the way Hagrid takes the first years in boats under the castle via the lake.
    4) Polyjuice potion... a death eater could sneak in and then somehow break the Floo wards and bring Death eaters in that way.
    5) Another Slytherin who has joined the ranks could fix the vanishing cabinet and let them in.
    6) Some of the death eaters could be animagi and sneak into the castle that way.
    7) The death eaters could conceal themselves somehow either with potions of the notice-me-not sort or with notice-me-not sort of charms.
    8)They could know of or discover some ancient secret entrance from the Forbidden Forest that goes into the dungeons or some other forgotten, lower part of the castle.

    It was interesting that he chose to talk to Remus. I still think it would be good to eventually have Severus find out about Toby, but then be mad at Harry for not telling him and tell Harry to just 'stay away from my son' (but at this point have Harry already know that Severus is his father?) It would create lots of nice angst for Harry, Toby, and Severus

    Author's Response: Harry needed someone who knew Lily and James really well and also who already knew about Toby. He's annoyed with Dumbledore and Hagrid wasn't the best choice; hence Remus. Can't say much about when Sev finds out the truth, though I have 90% of that bit planned and am nearing the more major events of the year. I agree with the angst comment though. Thanks for the review!
