Umm... some of the ingredients they stole might have been really disgusting to collect - Severus could make them get them to replace his stores. Take away their Hogsmeade priveleges? Make them stand up in front of the school and do a presentation on how to care for a hawk? *snort* Now that would be torture... Make them help the House Elves?

OK, I've run out of punishments. Very sweet at the end! Strangely, it was the last line that made me want to cry more than the bit about his mother - though that was very sad too. I like how you split up the hours (especially as each one would have been critical for the hawk) and the transition from very sick to fairing better was very believable - especially Harry's bit.

I certainly wasn't expecting Severus to catch Crabbe helping Harry! I was certain that he'd have run along with the other two, but it was definitely my favourite bit when he was apologising and helping Harry back onto his perch. Severus controlled his temper admirably!

I seem to reviewed this chapter backwards... Oops. Oh well - yes, like in Monty Python and the Holy Grail :D And the way described Severus and Hagrid's relationship sounded spot on! I'm glad your beagle's OK :) Animals certainly know how to make you worry, don't they?

    Author's Response:

Yes, they do, and I know plenty of people who have lost pets recently, so I was terrified.  Luckily, he made it and I am currently petting him as I type with my foot, he's asleep by my feet.

I'm glad I managed to convey all of Severus's feelings and the way an animal can slowly go from being deathly ill to well in a matter of hours.  It's astonishing and scary.

Crabbe was a surprise to me too, but he wanted to help out and I felt it would be nice for once if I portrayed him as a somewhat decent child.  And it was a good thing Severus does know how to control himself, otherwise there would have been one very dead student in his lab.

That last line made me tear up too, poor Sev.

Loved all your ideas and hope you like what I did to them.

I certainly hope they can fix him - poor Severus, he really has been through the mill this time. Freedom's a great name - I especially hope he'll be able to live up to it when he's Harry again. I'm really glad you did more interaction between Severus and his hawk - those two fit together and Harry seems to be a much more settled version of himself now that he's a hawk and has no real memory of previously. His temper against Voldemort is my favourite so far. Nice logic for Twixie being able to understand Freedom!

Oh, and brilliant scene between Snape and his Slytherins the previous chapter - even better than I'd hoped for! Ha! Draco gets to wear a white pinny!

    Author's Response:

He has, the poor guy, and I didn't like doing that to him.  I don't like putting my characters in unnecessary pain, though Harry had to see what Severus goes through whenever he goes to answer that summons.  I'm glad you like Freedom's name, I almost couldn't think of one.  He is now that most of that awful pressure is off him and he can relax, well for awhile anyway.  Glad you liked my logic with Twixie.

And isn't that so funny, Draco dressed like some housemaid.  he's lucky they didn't make him wear a cap too!

Title: Chapter 14: Prophecy of Lies 12 Apr 2009

Yum, tasty bag of secrets - I certainly haven't heard that angle on the Prophecy before, very original! I LOVE Fawkes, I think he's my favourite so far. Is it wrong of me to sympathise with Dumbledore as much as Harry? Well, anyway, I'm sure that's just testament to your writing skills. Great last few chapters and I'm very glad I caught up again - can't wait for the next one though!

Author's Response: Oh good, i wasn't sure if someone had done that before.  Fawkes popped up one day and said 'put me in here, Harry needs me' and I was like 'okay' and so here's the wise phoenix.  No, Dumbledore deserves a bit of sympathy too--he made a dreadful error in judgment, both past and present, and it may never be forgiven by the two it affects most--Snape and Harry.  I've just posted the Sev/Lily chapter, BTW!

Happy Birthday! Now that was a great chapter - I loved the fight scene and the tension you built up beforehand. I wonder if Harry's dream really was prophetic or just an example of overwrought nerves? Hmm, interesting... I can't wait to find out what happens next - what Umbridge will do, what Snape will say, if anything at all, or how Harry will react! The description of him becoming a boy again was very nicely done, and the timing was excellent. I'm looking forward to whatever you have planned next.

Author's Response: Thanks! So glad you're enjoying it.  Harry's dream . . .one never knows with the dreams of wizards . . .As for Sev, Harry & Umbridge . . .wait till I post again and you shall know all!

Title: Chapter 19: Severus's Bane 19 Apr 2009
Reviewer: wellyuthink (Signed)
Aw, this made me want to cry. Poor Harry, and poor Severus too. I really hope they can work it out between them without anything too drastic happening (!) I'm curious about how Hermione and Ron will react now that Harry's back - what Harry will tell them and, more importantly, how Harry and Severus will react to each other in public. Thanks so much for updating so quickly!

Author's Response: I know, I was nearly crying myself writing this.  I hate torturing them, but unfortunately they must go through this before mending their friendship, because then it will be stronger.  Hope that makes sense. You'll see Ron and Mione's reaction enxt chapter as well as the way Haryr and Sev behave towards each other.

Title: Chapter 21: Hagrid's Wisdom 23 Apr 2009

I definitely like your Hagrid - he's so down to earth and sensible! Yay! Thank goodness Snape found Harry's letter, I was really worried that Severus would go and say something else awful to Harry before he read it, but thank you for laying my fears to rest :) Brilliant build up with the Stimulant Potion - it was written at exactly the right pace! I can't wait to read the 'discussion' chapter - please update soon! I wonder what Harry's magic stirring meant...

Author's Response: Yes, he is. I kind of picture him to be like Sam in LOTR, he knws what's what, even if he isn't a brilliant wizard and he knows the most important things ar eones that can't be bought--friendship, love, and trust.  If Severus hadn't found the letter, he might have done just what you said.  Glad you enjoyed the progression of days and the next one;s just been posted, hope you like it! Thanks, Jen!

Title: Chapter 22: Through A Glass Darkly 24 Apr 2009
Reviewer: wellyuthink (Signed)
They certainly did - so wonderful. The catharsis at the end had an especially nice build up - I keep expecting it happen and expecting it to happen, but the place you gave it was very nicely timed. I'm looking forward to Severus' confrontation with Umbridge. Will she find another 'crime' to blackmail him with? Will she go to Azkaban? Will all the owls gang up against her and all dive-bomb her at once until she runs out of the school? I hope you update soon!

Author's Response: I wanted the catharsis to come in at the end of the chapter, after they had finally talked and Harry had forgiven Severus, because then he would feel comfortable leaning on Sev emotionally.  Sev's confrontation with Umbridge ought to be great fun! You'll see what happens to her in the next post!

Title: Chapter 23: The Toad At Bay 25 Apr 2009

Wow. That Stymphalian Bird was scray! I'm definitely glad I'm not Umbridge - she certainly got what was coming to her. I love Minerva's brilliant idea!

    Author's Response:

It was, and the picture I saw on the web was even scarier!

Thanks and hope you like the next bit.

Title: Chapter 26: Anger Management 02 May 2009
Reviewer: wellyuthink (Signed)
Oh, thank goodness they've made up again - I really hate it when those two fight... though I do think Ron's apology should have been longer :D Ah, well, I suppose he did his best, especially as he's Ron. Great anger management solution - much better than punching a wall or exploding a potion! I am hoping that they'll spend a bit more time with each other now that their fight is out of the way to prove to Ron that he isn't really second-best. I'm looking forward to that First Year class though! Will Snape be standing in the background and supervising? I can't wat to see if the students give him trouble or make it easy for him! Please update!

Author's Response: Yes, and that solution is one that I use often, though I do tai chi instead of box.  I think if Sev were there, Harry would be too nervous to teach and wouldn't get the full effect of teaching.  As for what the kids do to him. . . .it will be very interesting to say the least!

Hedwig, Harry's loyal owl, delivers a message to Professor Snape. The fallout from that letter will be long lasting. Will Harry ever be able to live with Snape knowing his deepest secrets? Entry in the 2009 Challenge Fest. In Response to the Morning Post Challenge by Jan_AQ.

Goodness! Normally I don't really like stories that adhere to canon, but yours is brilliant. The ending was so sad, but I could so easily imagine this happening instead of canon (in fact I wish it had!) - especially the part where Snape Obliviates Harry, giving up his own chance at a comrade in order to keep his cover. My favourite bit was when their memories merged - that was a particularly powerful bit of writing. Great job!

    Author's Response:

Thanks for the kind words. This was my first story from Harry's POV.  I really enjoyed writing him.

I tried hard to make the memories merging a fluid peice. These two men had so much in common.  I'm glad it worked for you.
