On May 28th of 2002, after a lot of deliberation and thought, I became Ponytail Goddess on fanfiction.net.  Looking back, I can't help but wonder why I chose such a silly name.  Clearly, I never thought I'd grow out of my ponytail phase during my freshmen year of high school.  Oh, how things have changed...

Anyway, I guess I could tell you a few less than interesting facts about myself, such as the fact that I am a music education major or that I live in Illinois, which is known for it's unpredictable weather.  However, that's not too terribly interesting, so I will bore you no longer.

I am here to write a few good fics and my main focus as an author is creativity.  I strive to write intricate fics with highly detailed plots that have not been seen before.  I like tricking people into believing one thing when they should believe another.  I also believe that a story can be satisfying with a less than happy ending.  Not everything in life ends happily, so why should all fics end happily?  Variety is the spice of life, so I'm going to flavor my fics in different ways to please you.

What's in a name? The-boy-who-lived, prophesied defeater of the Dark Lord, son of the supremely intelligent Lily Evans and talented James Potter, Golden boy of Gryffindor, part-time punching bag and house elf of the Dursleys and the bane of Severus Snape's teaching career, Harry's used to labels. Who would want Harry when they can see instead whoever they like instead? Having never been entirely sure who he is makes him a little too open to suggestion though and unfortunately for him, Umbridge wants to banish his old list of names and create a new one of her own.
Beneath the names others have branded him with will anyone be able to find Harry?

    Oh, I apologise muchly, especially considering the way chapter 10 will end (I’ll have chapter 11 up as soon as I can so you don’t spontaneously combust ^^)   And Poppy’s a very busy woman unfortunately but there will be a next time where she can redeem herself.  Ooh, that looks like fun *bounces in my seat beside you* I know this is a slow moving fic, I always write every moment as intensely as possible whether I mean  to or not and I know it can make reading it hard so thank you so much for bearing with me ^^ *cookies and muffins to you!*

    :( I hope someone finds out soon--this fic bothers me in a way that no other fic has before. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. I guess it's just the thought of abuse going unnoticed for a long time; the fact that this stuff really happens in some areas and possibly to kids at the school where I teach, just makes this seem real to me. I need someone to find out about it soon.

    Oh, your review... I find it so easy to write angst and inner turmoil and stuff – the stuff that no one notices except the one going through it – that I focus too much on the writing and not enough on the people who read it; I don’t mean to make anyone discomfited by the story, it’s supposed to be a nice(ish) one too, and should be once Snape finds out, but I suppose I just get distracted by the writing of it you know?  I know what you mean, there’s too many cases of this type of thing (though perhaps not with blood quills ^^) happening and no one ever knowing, working in a school you must see it too often (hell, once is too often) and when kids suffer and it stays inside... I know what you mean entirely.  Hopefully bringing events forward by a day will help somewhat (you actually really helped my plot, I was going to have things come to a head on the Thursday/ Friday but now it should be in the next chapter, at the latest chapter 12.  Hope it helps.  I’m still struck speechless by the fact that, what to me was a little fic I wanted to upload on P&S has effected people enough to be... well, effected... if that makes sense ^^ Thank you ^-^

    Thank goodness for people noticing--it's about time! No matter how much Harry wants to get to detention, I'm not certain he's going to make it there this time around. I'm going to root for Draco potentially finding him in the dungeons and helping him to the infirmary. Surely if Draco of all people realized he needed help, Harry might think he really needed it because Draco helping him during a normal situation is totally unlikely. It would have to be a life and death thing, which it is now, for Draco to reach out a hand and help Harry. I hope it happens.

I thought all the white he was seeing was heaven, but I guess I was wrong there. Anyways, my favorite part was your description of Lily coming to Harry and the 'not yet.' Very sweet. TT sorry.  And it’s still not a bad thing you got the impression of heaven, it means I did a good job of directing your thoughts that way... although I probably could have explained the snow better... ahh well ^^  and thanks!  I’m glad you liked the lily bit ^^  wasn’t sure about it to begin with so I’m glad people liked it ^^ - points and muffins for you!

    Great chapter! I'm so relieved that someone found him and that they finally know what's going on. You painted their horror beautifully, as well as the blooming affection that Severus has for the boy.

    You're not stupid, hon. I actually took a look at the banner and I think it might be a size issue. You should email Jan or OE and ask how large the banners should be. I think it might not be working because yours is really large and it might not fit there. It's a very nice looking banner though; would it be possible to get the artist to shrink it down?

    Anyway, I look forward to reading more.

    Thank you!!  I’m just hoping Sev’s affection isn’t blooming too fast ^^ (I think we’re already firmly in the realm of OOC but it would be good if it was somewhat believable still... you don’t think I’ve moved too fast? *bites lip nervously*). 

    Oh thank you!!! *hugs you in delirious joy, blueberry muffin-level joy (I’m positively squeeful ^^) – I hadn’t even thought of its size until you suggested (and after a few years of my high school photography teacher telling us over and over that email doesn’t support massive images that really does make me indescribably stupid ^^ ) – and to think I can do that really quick-like too... Thank you!!! I’m going to put so many points (and muffins and cookies and other wonderfully sweet things) to your house!!! (Ravenclaw... oh, now I just feel selfish *hands over points and wonderfully sweet things directly to you*... otherwise I’d get some and that’s just silly... *hugs you too* thank you!!! you’ve made my day!)

    Another cliffie? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Snape legilimized the boy on the spot. If he wants fast answers, that would be the easiest way to get to the bottom of things. Snape is cruel enough to do it too, especially to an unsuspecting first year who wouldn't know what was going on.

    Then again, maybe Harry will tell him something so he doesn't have to. Or maybe he'll draw conclusions on his own. Having experienced something similar, I bet Severus will be the first to notice the problem.

    Author's Response: Of course Sev will be the first to notice the problem. And Sev isn't all that cruel to his own students, even if he does have high expectations for them. Anyways, I decided I didn't want Snape to IC, as that would scare Harry and most likely make him bottle up than confide in Sev.     Son of a monkey, was it Fred and George? I am so angry with them right now; I had always imagined them the sort who did those sorts of things to people, but only to people who had done something to them in the first place. Harry hasn't done anything and I think it's very malicious of them to attack him for no reason.

    Of course, I could be wrong and it could have been someone else. I hope Sev finds out about it soon and puts a stop to it because something tells me that Harry will be too scared to seek out help.

    Good chapter--it did feel short, but I think it's because it was divided into three sections. Will Draco find out what's going on? It sounds like Harry's in so much pain that he will. My hope is that Draco will escort Harry to Severus, who will take care of the problem from there. Nice work!
