Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

Severus Snape was discovered as a spy mere days before the start of the school year. Thankfully, Albus had been working on a vague contingency plan for this possibility. It had been inspired by the question, “What would it take for Severus Snape to see that he was wrong about Harry Potter?”

The answer? Force Severus to go undercover as Alfonse “Eli” Hopkirk, a sixth year Gryffindor.

    LOL Dumbledore's influence could ruin anyone. I love Snape's ruminations and thoughts. I'm glad that Snape was able to see Harry's bruises - I'm glad that he had a cool potion to share. I wonder if Harry will spread word about that particular balm, or ask for it again.

    I think any of his friends would of caught on about his "Whomping Willow" lie. He wasn't around flying without them at any time, was he? And he should be too good of a flier to ever be hit... I wonder if his lie will ever come up again.

    What will it take for Snape to separate Harry from his Dad? I love that McGonagall threatened detention for so long. Go McGonagall!!

    I'm really enjoying this story. Thanks for writing and sharing!

    Author's Response: the specific potion Snape shared probably won’t show up again, but the seed has been planted that Snape either has unusual access to potions or is unusually good at brewing- and that Will be important later! And yeah anyone who knows anything about Harry would have been instantly suspicious if they’d been treated to that lie, but Snape still doesn’t know Harry yet! And if it makes you feel better I know precisely when/how snape will have his Harry=/=James revelation.... :D thank you for the review!!

    Hehe so Eli got a taste of a better potions teacher.... I hope he learns from her teaching style. Honestly he should study her and learn because it seems like she might be one of the best. It serves Dumbledore right to have to pay Snape's wages himself. I enjoyed Minerva winning that one.

    Aww I'm so glad that Harry noticed Eli missed dinner and is taking some out for him. Did Eli fall asleep? He sure had a bad day. I am actually amused somewhat at how easy it was to be a bad day, and how good of a day it was for Harry in return. I really enjoy Professor Chen and calling Severus out on singling out Harry and other Gryffindors. Whoo!!

    Woah, cool! I didn't expect it at all. Funny how Harry is turning everybody's hair blue - is that his favorite color? I enjoyed Sirius' rants and thoughts. Very in character. He and Snape and Harry traveling in a motor bike is delightful. Funny that the cat was in the bag. I wonder if this makes all the difference in Harry's story - if everything is different now, or if this was only one night that ended up not enough. Thanks for writing and sharing!

    Author's Response: I like the idea of Harry having a completely different favorite color, anything other than red, and all it took was imagining Sirius in blue hair! I thought a lot about that too, about whether this night would make any differences in Lily and James' fate, and I don't think it does, because the prophecy wouldn't make sense if they lived.     Woah, that's cool! I appreciated the color code in the end notes. So what is that gold, is it Lily? Is it magic or destiny itself watching over Snape? I wonder what color Snape's aura would be otherwise. Maybe red? I also wonder how much gold is in Harry.

    Of course Snape would think Harry needs to be exorcised. XD But if it's trauma then Harry as had a lot of those and an exorcism won't help much. But maybe they will discover the Horcrux early and find a way to get rid of it?

    Is Dumbledore instructing Snape to start Occlumency now? It seemed like it.

    I enjoyed this one-shot. I can see how the ending was a little rushed, but I still enjoyed it. Thanks for writing and posting while on your holiday!

    Woah! Poor Harry. Is his mind messed up forever now? I hope not. It seems that he doesn't eve remember Snape! Great one-shot, thanks for writing and posting!

    Author's Response: Thanks Jan :-) Well, you could look at it in two different ways - on the one hand, Harry only says "Hello", as if he isn't sure about the identity of his saviour, perhaps leading us to believe that he is completely broken after his terrible experience at the Ministry. On the other hand, if you read the ending carefully, there is a clue that Harry could be well aware that he is talking to Snape, so it could be inferred that he will fully recover from his ordeal. I must admit that when I was writing this, it became far darker than I had initially planned and I found it hard to write the whole St Mungo's bit. I needed Primrose there as a bit of a foil for the dark deeds of the Ministry that had poor Harry completely catatonic :-(. I kind of want to keep writing this story now! I need to find out what happens with our boys in the aftermath!

    Thank you!  I couldn't resist crossing the basalisk with a runespoor.  You mean Snape isn't a monster? LOL

     

    I aporeciate your fixing it.  I don't know why but that night I couldn't get the story to post *don't know what I was doing wrong*  My sister laughed at me because I tried like six times before it posted; then I had to wait for it to be accepted.  I was sure I was going to be disqualified. 

    BTW, how early can we post? Should each entry stand alone, or can they be in the same universe?  Can we use a new story that is based on a challenge?  Aren't I a pest?

    Wow, I loved the emotions in this! Loved the descriptions of the little soul animals. I wish Jana would give Samson comfort too. Snape is usually more reserved. I could see his "soul" unconsciously being nicer to Harry and Samson without it being too obvious. Loved this little snippet. Thanks for writing and sharing!

I’m too lazy to go back and edit it though, but don’t worry I intend to make a multi chapter fic based on the world of his dark materials and will definitely create a relationship between the pair unconsciously through their daemons!
