I enjoyed this story. Thank you so much for writing and sharing it! Author's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write such a kind review! Five-year-old Harry has a delicious surprise for Severus, and Mr. Scarecrow is about to attend his first Halloween party ever.

I laughed out loud several times, for real. I thoroughly enjoyed it! So cute, and funny. Little Harry is darling. Mr Scarecrow sounds awful to eat - frosting and mayonnaise? Have you tried that combination before? I'm glad the other professors had some so Snape didn't have to eat it all himself. He really is a big softy. I wonder, did Hagrid actually like it? Maybe he should keep the leftovers. A couple of typos and such I noticed: Snape’s heart skipped a beat. He just dodged a hex, a close one at that. He didn’t think he could even think about eating Mr. Happy without dying of a heart attack first. eating Mr. Scarecrow “Are you read Harry?” Severus wasn’t sure... ready It wouldn’t be too bad, he thought. He was surrendered by other adults, surrounded “You really love Mr. Scarecrow?” he asked Severus, quite hushedly. quite hushedly??? XD I loved the story!! Fantastic job! Thanks so much for writing and sharing! Author's Response: Thank you so much for pointing out the typos Jan! I knew I hadn't caught all of them while editing, I went back and corrected them immediately. I haven't specifically tried frosting and mayonnaise, but I do experiment with weird foods a lot. The last one I remember was when I made a 'cakewhich', which is basically a sandwich that has chocolate cake in the middle instead of what normally goes in a bun, topped with a lot of banana slices and walnuts. But I did it as an adult functioning in society so...no excuses for that. (it tastes great with milk tho) I think Hagrid actually loved it, his tastes are quite particular when it comes to food. Maybe he'd serve Mr. Scarecrow alongside his famous rock cakes for the trio once Harry grows up? “Yeah, I get it,” Harry said raggedly, looking away from Snape’s fierce gaze, “I just… it’s not safe for you to do that. I could hurt you when I’m like this – I have hurt you before.”
Snape jerked his head in a dismissive gesture, “Hardly more than a few bruises, Potter. I can’t expect you to recognize me when you are in this sort of state, you don’t even recognize yourself. Occlumancy is the only solution to drawing you out of your suffering. I will not argue with you about it again.” “You could die,” Harry protested quietly, looking up at the man and feeling the edges of the wooden chair press into his thin shoulders and back, “I’m not a child anymore, Snape, I know that this could kill you.” “Then it kills me,” Snape responded flatly. I think Harry needs to probably process these memories, to relive them and change what he feels about them. He's not a little boy any more... I think it would help. But I'm glad that Snape is helping him any way he can. I wonder what the pain is from. Unaddressed issues the Horcrux was shielding him from? Thanks for writing and for sharing! Author's Response: Thank you Jan_AQ! I wasn't sure how the perspective would go over, as it is post-hogwarts by quite a few years but it just somehow worked for him to be older :) I don't usually start a story out right in the middle of everything, but that's how this one went. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I imagine that Snape will help him with his memories as well, talking about them and counseling Harry on everything. The fic suggests that the pain is from the removal of the Horcrux, it was so much a part of Harry for so long that destroying it also caused damage that starts showing up later on. but i do like the idea of the horcrux working as a shield and no one knowing until after it's gone!
Author's Response: thank you! haha I'm sure that fame has a little to do with it, although Snape's been covering for Harry as well with sending paperwork in and forging Harry's signature, so maybe he found a plausible way to explain Harry working from home? lol :) Author's Response: thank you! haha I'm sure that fame has a little to do with it, although Snape's been covering for Harry as well with sending paperwork in and forging Harry's signature, so maybe he found a plausible way to explain Harry working from home? lol :)
Author's Response: Hello Jan! Thank you for your wonderful response :) I too love Snape looking after Harry no matter how old Harry is. I left the fic open-ended about some things, I think Ron and Hermione would be informed if it grew worse but I also don't think it would kill Harry before Snape found a way to cure him. Mostly because I tend to never write major character death, thus why Snape is somehow still alive and helping Harry :) thanks again! Halloween must’ve had a hit list. ‘Who can we screw with today? Excellent idea, Fate, our old favorite: Harry Potter.’

It was really scary hearing Harry's name come out and be forced to participate... what would happen if he didn't participate? No one really says. Would the contract just kill whoever put their name in and backed out? Would be funny if Harry decided that the person who put his name in would be the one killed, and just flat out refused to participate because there wouldn't really be any consequences for him. I'm glad Snape is going to help Harry. Slytherin-like way of going with it. Thanks for writing and sharing! One foggy Halloween day, the Dursley family visit a circus. Harry, left to his own devices, goes to a 'Spooky Tent' where, among other exhibits, he sees a cursed photograph. Is it fake? Or is the black-robed man in the photo really a living person, forever trapped in a photo?

I have a bad feeling about Harry taking the photograph but he had to, didn’t he? I hope he doesn’t get sucked it!! Great writing, great descriptions, I thoroughly enjoyed the pace and events. Fabulous job. I hope you will get to update again soon! Thanks for writing and posting! Author's Response: Snape completely shares your feelings about Harry taking the photograph ... and he would make them known, except sound doesn't travel out of the photo, so Harry won't realize just how angry he is ... ^^ Thank you!
Fantastic update! I'm really loving this story.. Great descriptions. I'm glad Harry managed to find an Owl, and explain why his shoes were muddy so he wouldn't get in trouble. I'm worried about who this new guy is! Who is he? Ahhhh... please update when you can! Author's Response: Thank you! I was a bit unsure whether post owls are specially trained, but Pigwidgeon seemed to be a wild owl who volunteered to deliver Sirius' letter, so I guess they just like working for a wizard family - food safety and health insurance? A new ghost has appeared at Hogwarts

Author's Response: When I saw your challenge, it just popped into my head and I had to write it. Glad you loved it! It was happening again and there was nothing he could do to stop it. In the beginning, he’d been in denial. There was no way this could be happening. It was a fluke of circumstance. The fates were out to get him.
