Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

Harry would never have guessed what moving to a new city with the Dursleys would mean. He also never would have guessed who his new neighbor would be, or that he was being watched... followed... stalked when he went out at night looking for food and safety.     Woah! Amazing chapter! I absolutely love it! Harry got adopted by Snape! Not Harry Weasley, Harry Potter. Yay! That's one way to get around Dumbledore. Ha!

    Although, I'd like to think that Dumbledore would care that Harry was being treated so badly. Would he of demanded Harry go back regardless? With some added threats or talking to the Dursleys? But now Snape has the upper hand. Harry isn't going anywhere, I hope.

    Fantastic story and chapter. I loved Peter and his helpfulness. I almost wanted him to be adopted alongside Harry to Snape. Wouldn't that be something?

    I'm so glad that Harry is now permanently somewhere safe. I worry about what the Dursley's reaction is going to be though, and Dumbledore.

    I love that Harry gets to see the bay and the view from his new bedroom windows. Will he be able to get his old stuff back? At least Hedwig is safe.

    I've really enjoyed this story. Thank you so much for writing and sharing it!

    Fantastic, amazing chapter. This has quickly become my favorite story.

    Wow, I did not expect Dudley to be beaten up, and Harry to run to his rescue. What a clever trap! Of course Harry fell for it.

    I enjoyed Kirk's identity being hidden because of his new look at first, and I love that we find out that he will be going to military school. Ha! Justice.

    I hope that Snape will help Harry learn how to stand up for himself.

    I really LOVED how Snape went to the manager and got Harry's back pay. Wooooo! I love how the manager called Snape Harry's dad, and when the police officer came to break up the fight Snape called Harry his son.

    Snape clearly knows his role, but Harry is still not sure.

    And now the Dursleys know where Harry live. Will they mess with him? Will Dudley want to thank Harry, and maybe be friends now that they live apart?

    I love, love, loved how Snape made Harry put 12 snack things in the cart when they went food shopping. Harry is underweight, and I bet that this is part of Snape's plan to get him to a healthy weight.

    I'm surprised that Snape is allowing Harry to eat in his room, but I love how Snape said that if he finds ants that that will change. So normal and domestic! I love it!

    Fantastic writing, and I am really loving this story. Your Snape and Harry are fantastically in character and I love hearing both of their thoughts and dialogue.

    Well done, and thank you for writing, sharing, and updating!

    Harry sure has a thing for Danger Alley.

    I loved how when Snape was making potions Harry was like, "That's not lunch, is it?" I bet potions don't smell or taste like a good lunch.

    The part about Harry being on the Weasley's clock was cool. I wonder if he showed up on the clock when he said his name was Harry Weasley. Funny how the Weasleys kept checking the front door when it said Harry was "home."

    I really like your characterization of Arthur in this. I like that he supports the adoption and that the Weasleys know everything and really want what is best for Harry.

    I really like how Mrs. Weasley said they don't do secrets in this house.

    Funny how Harry doesn't believe the adoption is real. He will find out eventually I guess.

    Umbridge is scary. I know she wants to hurt Harry. I really like how Harry is being a model student, not making trouble or asking for attention. The summer helped him out there at least.

    She really makes me nervous though. I really hope that Harry will be able to avoid detention with her. I also hope that she gets a bad end. It seems like that is coming to her.

    Poor Harry being shoved around and injured by the other students though. Snape should put a stop to it.

    I really like that Seamus at least is better in this version.

    I never understood why the students didn't claim that they needed to do practical spells for their exams. They are on the tests... Umbridge should be forced to let them practice defense at least since it should be on the tests for their OWLS and NEWTS. I bet you can't get into the Auror department without good practical defense skills.

    I really like how Ron has got Harry's back in this version of 5th year.

    I'm really enjoying this story. Thanks so much for the quick updates! They are wonderful!

    Oh fantastic chapter!! I loved, LOVED how Snape told Harry that Harry should come to Snape, that it's Snape's job to protect him from himself, and from others. Woah, that was powerful.

    Maybe Harry is starting to understand this arrangement? Oh, I love it.

    And Draco was so in character. I loved Harry's wit, saying he and Draco were having a playdate in Potions. I bet Snape almost laughed out loud. XD That was fantastic.

    I loved how things with Cedric's cousins worked out in the end. I think now they are probably feeling guilty. Maybe they will even feel compelled to go to Harry's side if there is a future fight or battle because of it. They should understand now how Harry feels about it.

    I'm actually really surprised that Umbridge hasn't managed to get Harry in trouble for any detentions. Will she have a problem with Harry teaching the Defense club?

    Will Harry be able to produce a Patronus now? I think that last scene with Snape should be enough for a happy memory. But if Harry is depressed and unable to feel happiness that would be a problem.

    Another fabulous chapter. I loved it!

    Oh man, where to start. I really loved how Harry had an opportunity to test Snape's commitment and care for Harry.

    I am so, so glad that Harry was able to speak up and refuse to continue the detention once he realized it was torture and unlikely to be the sort of thing allowed.

    I loved how Harry said he'd tell his Dad! And Umbridge took the bait. Ha! I only wish that Harry would of carried the quill with him as proof, and also so Umbridge couldn't use it on anyone else. Snape was fantastic, quickly lying for Harry and I love that he added Dumbledore in as his backup. With their legilimency Dumbledore could pick up on things from Snape and play along if he was called on.

    I actually would of loved to see that.

    Interesting about the blood quill. Did Harry ever lie after using it in canon?

    Anyway, I'm glad that Snape is on to fixing things, and that he's going to get an unbonding quill to help Harry. Snape could of left it, and preferred Harry to be forced to tell the truth a little more, but I suppose with Snape's legilimency there is no point, he could just read Harry's mind anyway and know if Harry's lying.

    It was really nice that Snape let Harry get his book from the library after hours. I bet Snape secretly likes that Harry is getting good grades, and trying to do better. I think the other teachers, Dumbledore and McGonagall, have also noticed and think it's Snape's influence that is making Harry a better student.

    I wonder if Umbridge will make things difficult for Snape and Harry, if the Minister or the Ministry will publish their relationship or what. I hope not. That would not be good for Snape's other position, and it would also make things more difficult for Harry at school too I bet.

    I'm really glad that Harry was able to produce his patronus and that the memory with Snape was the memory he used. :) Hooray.

    I'm really loving this story. Thank you so much for all the updates!

    I think it's funny that Dumbledore examining Harry's hand looks like he's just looking at it to Harry.

    And Yay for Harry now mentally calling Snape his father now. I guess that last event with proof that Snape would be there for him really cemented it. Horray.

    Wow, even Ron now is working hard on his homework, trying to get O's. Hermione couldn't do it on her own. This is more proof of Snape's good influence. Woah.

    I had hoped that Harry was the only one who had used the blood quill so far, that Umbridge was waiting to test the waters with Harry. Sad to hear that she used it on three other students. I guess they didn't feel as comfortable bringing it up with other teachers. That really speaks to the trust and bravery Harry has. I'm glad that the other students can be seen to and fixed too.

    Haha Hermione's right about being exasperated that the defense professors are trying to kill Harry every year. Silly Harry trying to speak up and say Umbridge wasn't trying to kill him, "not exactly." Pretty sure that was her end goal.

    I'm really glad that Umbridge is being removed early on, and that Harry didnt have to suffer much of her writing torture. The other students too, are likely really relieved to avoid her punishments. I wonder if she will go to Azkaban. At the very least she should loose her Ministry position. I bet she really hates Harry now though.

    I really want to know what Draco had to write, and how he's dealing with it. Will Harry ask him, or will Draco volunteer that information in the future? I hope so. I am nosey like Harry. :)

    It was really nice at the end how Harry had dinner with Snape and McGonagall and Pomprey. I am so glad that they explained it all to Harry, and that Umbridge is gone for good. I bet that Dumbledore is explaining the same to the rest of the students in the Great Hall that night.

    I wonder why Snape wanted that dinner with Harry though. Was it to shelter him from the announcement or something? Or just to check in with Harry and explain things without holding him after class?

    I'm really loving this story and the path it's taking us on. Wonderful. And the idea of Dumbledore teaching Defense is exciting. I bet all the students will love his lessons. I hope that Malfoy will open up to Harry perhaps they could become sort of not-enemies?

    Yikes. What a heavy conversation. I wonder when Harry wakes up, if he even sleeps, if he would wonder if it had been a dream.

    I'm glad that Snape told Harry what was going on. Harry's reaction was very in character.

    Awwwww, yay. Sweet chapter. I'm so glad that the Headmaster is listening and giving Harry an alternative for the summer. Great emotions in this chapter.

    I know what you mean about the html coding. You should be able to copy and paste from your word document though.
