- This is great! I imagine the following happening: Harry realizes that Malfoy resents him for having Snape's attention, and begins to sympathize with Malfoy while Snape remains angry with him for the spell. Eventually, Harry will be the one to turn Snape around. At least - thats how it happened in my head :). I'm sure whatever you do, it will be FANTASTIC. I love all of your writing! Besides my crazy theories, I think that Draco *must* resent Harry for Snape's attention, and is secretly vying for it all along :). After all, Lucius and Narcissa don't seem to be the best parents ever.

- Oh. My. Goodness. Hyperventilating. I knew this chapter was going to be fantastic, because you wrote it didn't you?, but I didn't know it would be this amazing! I can't wait for Harry's reaction. I cannot wait for what will happen. The Slytherin's teasing, maybe some people supporting Harry and him realizing he is valued. How long will I have to live with shortness of breath before the next chapter comes around? Take your time, seeing as time produces *this*! I loved this. Loved. this. Love. I loved how Harry explained his quidditch attachment (though I was confused, wasn't there no quidditch in fourth year b/c of the tournament?). I think a very in-personality part of that was when he said "i don't mean to be whining on it all the time" - it was very Harry. I cannot wait for the next chapter! when? when? *gasps for breath*

Author's Response: Oh, thank you! You're being way too kind and making me blush! But I am really happy that you enjoyed it. I don't know if people will approve and/or agree with Harry's reaction, but it is a part of the story that I have had planned for a long time and there are reasons for it, or should I say there will be reasons for it. I will try to write the next chapter this week and maybe have it up sometime next weekend.

- This is so exciting! In no way to insult your writing, which I really truly love and enjoy, but this is the first chapter in a while of Slave Child that I have been anxious to see where the plot goes. I've always loved your character development, but the combination of character development and intrigue is where I go crazy in this fic. I'm part of your yahoo group, and I read your alert after reading this chapter and understood completely. I feel like this chapter melds beautifully with previous chapters, all of them being excellent, but this one has some extra dimension and dynamic. I can't wait!

As I just wrote below, the past few chapters have been more of a struggle, it just seemed an awkward stage in the story, but I think we're moving beyond that part now, and I'm feeling more excited about the upcoming chapters again, so hopefully we'll all have fun reading and writing again!

- I love this fic! Its pure little-boy, without being the tiresome "kid writing" that so many authors struggle with. I love your Snape! This is so sweet, I think I have cavities - but the best cavities ever!

Oh, dour Snape was great fun for me to write for a change - he's so much more interesting that the softer and squishier version of him, I think. I'm glad you liked him! And the little plot point with the necklace was something I couldn't resist putting in - I was originally going to do something with the Marauders map, but I think the necklace is better. Anyway, I'm really happy you enjoyed this!

- I loved this chapter! I've been keeping up with your fic since about chapter 6, and am ashamed to admit i did not review *head hangs in shame* but this chapter was great. - I love this! Short, sweet, but not too sweet. I love your Harry, abused, on the road, and compliant - but I love how he develops. I love your Snape, very snappy, but still with enough compassion. I love that you didn't muddle around with dozens of original characters, but only one good one. This is is great :)))

- I *cried* while reading this. I think it was sometime during the letter.
I love Snape's way of responding to Harry's paraphasia by taking it in stride. It's so parental Snape, I adore it.
I also am completely impressed by the way you dealt with Harry's horcrux removal, assigning him issues that stroke victims usually have, it's quite clever.
I think I'm actually going to go through this chapter and read it again, that's how beautiful I thought it was.

Aww, I didn't mean to make anyone cry. But thank you for the lovely note. :) The paraphasia is a bit of a challenge to write, but something that I think would be realistic for the circumstances. I will be taking small artistic license with some of the side effects and treatments, but you are correct in your statement that it's similar to a stroke.
