When Harry wakes one morning, he discovers a badly injured Snape in his living room, and tries to hide him. But Petunia discovers them and reveals a secret she has kept for thirteen years--one that will change the course of Harry's life forever, and Severus's as well. AU, pre-GOF.

I loved Severus telling off Dumbledore! It's great how he doesn't let the Headmaster intimidate him. I can't wait to find out what happens when Harry and Draco meet!

Author's Response: Nope, not this Snape. Especially when it comes to his son and his ward. Harry and Draco meeting . . .just wait and see it's gonna be very tense and kind of explosive.

I feel bad for Draco even though he did act like a brat. I imagine that he must be feeling like an only child who suddenly gets another sibling. That happened to me and it was really hard to deal with at first. Great chapter, I can't wait to find out more about Draco. I hope he finds out more about Harry's home life soon.

Author's Response: You have Draco down perfectly, because that's exactly what he feels like. He was the only kid in Sev's life and all of a sudden Sev has a son, and not just ANY son, but his chief rival. That really makes him nuts. And also afraid that Sev will like Harry better. He'll be finding out about Harry's home life soon. And vice versa.

I'm very glad that Severus wasn't too harsh. Hopefully Harry will wait until he has more self-control to drink again. I liked the way Severus handled the situation and punished Harry. It seemed fair and just.

Author's Response: He will, believe me. I wouldn't be surprised if he never touches a drop again. That hangover and Sev's temper was definitely not worth it.  And Sev tries really hard to be fair even though he wasn't always in the past. He doesn't want to make an enemy of the son he just found.

I wouldn't want to be in Slytherin. A writing exam on the first day! I've done a little bit of writing with a quill and it's hard! I'm sort of glad that Venon's dead, but I wasn't expecting Lucius and Narcissa to be thrown in Azkaban. I guess Lucius's wealth and bought officals can't always save him. I hope that Severus takes Draco in, he would not do well in foster care.

    Author's Response:

I've had teachers in some of my classes give us "assessment tests" on the first day so theycould determine where to place us in terms of ability and reading levels, ect. I've tried writing with a quill too at colonial Williamsburg and it's a real pain! But the writing test is a way to help the Muggleborns get ahead and learn faster, which is why Sev makes them do it. Being ambitious, they want to be the best they can be, and so I would think they're grateful to him for it.

I wa sso glad that Vernon was dead. I wanted to kill him off for ages. No, not this time. This time the Malfoys will pay for their crimes.  I agree, Draco and foster care do not mix. And Sev knows it.

Whoa! That's a pretty fierce fight. Lucius and Venon really hurt Harry and Draco even more than I realized. And why would Severus decide to teach them martial arts that they would just use against each other? Awesome chapter! I can't wait to see how Severus punishes them.

Author's Response: Yes, well they have a lot of anger to get out. They did and it's really sad. You'll learn more about that in two chapters.  Sev taught Draco martial arts long ago, and he never intended for it to be used upon each other, only on an enemy, but he'll have that discussion with them next chapter.  He won't be very gentle, either.

I'm glad that the shimmerling survived the night. I'm surprised that Harry didn't have memory flashes of being beaten bloody wit the Dursley's when he was helping Sev. Awesome chapter!

Author's Response: Well, he could have, but his mind was focused upon helping Sev save the shimmerling so he wasn't thinking about himself then.

Exciting! It would be awesome to read about a Quidditch match between Harry, Draco and Severus. And I can't wait to learn more about the shimmerling

Author's Response: yeah I might have to work that in for the sequel though. The shimmerling is one of my better creations, as you'll see.

Title: Chapter 18: The Art of Being a Shadow 03 Sep 2009

I envy Draco and Harry, I wish I could fall asleep as easily as they did. It was interesting to learn more about Severus as a spy. It doesn't seem to follow the books. I'm confused to whether or not he took the Dark Mark as a spy. You said that he was disgusted by the ceremony and the wine mixed with blood, but then most people would be. Was he loyal until he heard the prophecy? Or is this story different from the books?

Author's Response: No, my version doesn't. Yes, he took the Mark, but he was never a real DE, he never joined them except to spy upon them at Albus's urging. Yes, he heard the prophecy, but couldn't save Lily in time. Or Harry either.

Title: Chapter 17: Just Like A House Elf 03 Sep 2009

Harry's treatment at the Dursley's was horrible! I think that Draco was better off. He could try to help himself and he wasn't a house elf. What a nice surprise for Sev to give them! Once I get back to school I'm sure I'll want a two hour nap too.

Author's Response: Yes, it was marginally better for Draco, but still pretty horrible. Harry at least has Sev now though. Me too, I want a two hour nap  every afternoon at work!

I loved hearing about Draco's life and all the things expected of him as a pureblood. The race at the end was awesome! I hope that there is more of Sev, Draco and Harry just having fun together.

Author's Response: There will be. Draco really had it harder than anyone, especially Harry realized. I loved that race even though they knocked Sev down. Finally they're getting along and learning about each other.
