As Harry comes of age, he must discover the secret of how Voldemort cheated death and find a way to defeat this evil once and for all. Along the way, he will have to contend with Death Eaters, shadowy Ministry officials and suspicions that threaten to tear his own allies apart. And he will need to delve farther than ever before into the mysteries of the mind where victory can only be won by freeing the chained souls.

Author's Response: Thank you for this wonderful review. I'm so glad the characters are convincing. I, too, hate it when I read a story and the characters have overlooked something that I find obvious, so I'm happy to have avoided that here. Thank you so much for reading. I'm glad the sleepless nights were worth it. :) When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.
Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story. Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH. Author's Response: Haha I'm so glad I made that cutoff at least! Thank you so much for remembering this story after so long - that's my Christmas! :)
Author's Response: Thank you!! Yes, I think I'm blowing it up in my head because they had started to...well, if not get along better, at least start to consider getting along better. I think because they're starting to see each other a little differently, a smaller blowout seems somehow bigger than a larger blowout would have when they were still mortal enemies. If that makes sense. :) Thank you for your encouragement!
Author's Response: Yay for maturity!! I like growth, and it's fun to get to the point where these boys can start making some progress. All I'll say about Snape is that he's dealing with a lot right now that he's not used to dealing with. Be patient with him - he'll get there, I promise!
Author's Response: Yay another review! Thank you! I'm excited to get to the next chapter. I think the boys are ready to make some progress, don't you? ;)
Author's Response: Haha thank you!!! I haven't gotten as many comments for this chapter on the other site I'm posting either. I was starting to wonder if there's something wrong with it, but you made it all better by making me laugh. :)
Author's Response: Yes, I have to remind myself that when I get to reading a story, many times I flip straight the next chapter or story and don't pause to review. Writing certainly has helped me to be more aware of it and to start leaving more reviews. :)
Author's Response: Haha I will not tell Snape that you called him sweet. You might get detention for that. ;)
The Lily thing is new. It's the only thing that I changed from my original plan. Originally, I had a backstory all planned out for Snape (involving his guilt for his part in the death of his father), but through the years, I fell in love with the Lily angle and how it perfectly explained Snape's loathing-yet-protection of Harry. By the time I took up this story, I wanted that for my Snape. It's the only thing I altered in my story in light of the final two books, and I hope it's well received. It doesn't change my overall plot plan, just adds a layer to it. Thanks for the review!
Author's Response: Sometime in between the publication of Books 6 and 7, I was pretty sure (i.e. hopeful to the point of desperation) about Snape's true loyalties and had an inkling about the Lily connection. But it was only after somebody else pointed out some clues to me. (The different way Snape & Dumbledore's overheard conversation in Book 6 could be interpreted, for one. How Snape's worst memory in Book 5 made more sense if it was about Lily than about James for another. A few others too.) I thought, wow, it makes total sense! But all I really wished for going into Book 7 was to find out if he was a good guy. And for him to help Harry in some way. AND FOR HIM TO LIVE. Which he didn't. Which caused me permanent emotional damage from which I still have not recovered. I wonder if you figured it out?
Author's Response: Hi there! So glad you enjoyed it! And now you don't have to wait as long for the next chapter, so - win! ;) |
