When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.
Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story. Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH. I might do the NaNoWriMo because I need to finish a story for a friend, but it's slash >. Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so glad that you like both Snape and the pace. :) Unfortunately, Real Life has been kicking me in the behind the past couple weeks, and because of that I haven't had a chance to finish Chapter 28, so it won't be posted until December now. Sorry. :( But hey...it's not a decade this time, so I still get an Exceeds Expectations, right? ;) If you want a NaNo buddy to keep you motivated, you can add me: ChaiGirl. I'm lagging slightly behind the word count goal, but not by too much. I just have to accept that some days I can write a lot and some days barely anything. It's the daily habit that matters. :) Good luck on your story!
Author's Response: Yay I'm glad you liked the chapter! I got a NaNo invite I assumed was you and accepted it. :) Yeah, I suppose October will be planning month next year, haha. To be honest, I don't use all of the tools or sections on the website, but I love how you can track your progress. I wish I could use that tracker all year long, ha! :) We should definitely do it again next year! NaNoWriMo 2020!!!
Author's Response: Yes, those two have quite a lot to talk about! I'm trying really hard to fit in all the things I want them to talk about without dragging down the plot. It's difficult to get pacing right when you're writing the story as you're posting it, but I'll just do the best I can. :) Thanks for the encouragement!
Author's Response: Thank you for rating :) :)
Snape is so Snape))) I really love the way you write him. Yeah, bro, I know the Christmas present feeling of a comment)) Feel free to nudge me anytime to get some))) Author's Response: *Nudge. Nudgenudgenudge.* Like that? Ha, I could see how that could get annoying, so I promise I'll leave the nudges to a minimum lol! Thank you for the review - I love hearing what you think. Yeah, Harry's pretty sensory. Smell is his dominant sense, but I also think that touch works marginally well, hence some of his initial confusion. I hope you had a great Christmas!
This site doesn't allow to continue a conversation in the reviews, unfortunately. I meant that Harry is reacting more to a certain stabilizing presence than any abstract sense of smell or touch or whatever, at least that is an impression I've got) Author's Response: Ah, I gotcha. I misunderstood what you meant before. Thanks for clarifying. You know, that's a very good point - I think you might be on to something. :)
Okay, I loved the scene with Snape, and the "Do you have any idea how much effort has gone into ensuring that?" comment is priceless)))) Very curious what turn things are gonna take now))) Author's Response: Ooh are you from Russia or visiting? That's one place I'd love to visit, but it's so large that I'd have no idea where to start. Saint Petersburg or Moscow maybe...I've seen some beautiful pictures. Or maybe I just plan something around the Trans-Siberian Railroad? Ha, I liked writing that line. I could just feel Snape's exhaustion and exasperation with this impulsive teenager that he's been tasked with protecting and who doesn't make it easy to do so. Add in the fact that he might maybe sort of be starting to care what happens to the kid, and it's quite the point of annoyance, ha. Thanks for the review! I hope your New Year was fantastic!
Yeah, that line certainly conveys that)))) Author's Response: Wouldn't that be fun! :D
PS where can I contact you about typos? I'd rather not post that in reviews))) Author's Response: Yes - I'm glad Harry knows now! I mean, he doesn't KNOW, like everything there is to know, but he knows enough to change some things. :) You'll have to excuse Kneader. He's not a bad guy, just lives alone and doesn't interact with kids all that often, and he's got a bit of a carmudgeonly side to him. I greatly appreciate being told about typos. I'm a stickler for correcting them, so please don't be shy about that! I don't mind if you leave them in a review, or you can email me: liveforbooks@yahoo.com :) |
