Author's Response: yes, they really are worth it. There is no more loyal friend than a dog. That is just so funny! Yes, I can see ducks doing that and having to be brought back. What kind of dog was Sampson? My Gabriel herded kittens, LOL! And children! My sister's cat Angel had five kittens and when they were walking we brought them into the kitchen and let them play, but we didn't want them to go into the formal dining room, which was just off the kitchen. So anytime a kitten headed in that direction, we would tell Gabe, "bring him back" and Gabe would gently nudge the kitten back into the kitchen. The kittens LOVED him! They would crawl all over him and one liked to sleep on his back and some of them would lie inbetween his paws while he was resting. We have pictures, but you had to be there it was sooo adorable!
But oh my! That's sounds pretty scary! I've known people who have tried stuff like that and in one case, the house did burn down. But I've always been to scared to try anything like that. (Thank my paranoid grandmother lol) But I'm glad Sev, Lily, and Gabe didn't get too seriously hurt. And I don't think Sev was crazy at all for running back in. I would've too if our house ever caught on fire. I'd never be able to live with myself if I'd let me cat die... But I'm really enjoying both Lily and Sev in this fic too. Of course Gabe sounds like a real doll! I like that Severus has someone other than Lily, somone that he's not so cautious to hug. It makes me happy he had someone, but said that Gabe's gone for him. Lovely chapter! Glad I caught the update before I got off!! ;P Author's Response: I love twitting Petunia! She's just so funny! Oh God, that's terrible! My neioghbors were lucky, I've known people whose house burned down because a stray spark from a coldhod full of ashes caught on the roof and started a fire. I would have gone back too, because being burned to death is a terrible way to die and just imagining it makes me shiver. He was, the dog was super smart and loved everyone. I agree, Severus needs someone to hug. I am too, and guess what? Here's the next one! I should also have another chapter of Irresistible Chemistry posted before next week!
"If they're right." I said coldly.-This made me laugh so hard I nearly choaked on my drink! I'm not sure why, but I just love this line! It sounds like something someone in my family might say, I guess. It was just so funny! "Snot-Brat went first, his real name was Gene Tolliver. God, he even sounded like a toff!" - This also made me chuckle. Good ol' Snape snark! HAHA! But seriously, that kid was a snot. Didn't like him in the least. But I'm so happy that Sev won! And it was so cute with Lily sticking up for him...then getting in trouble...haha! My mom always said I should've been a boy too. Lily sounds like my kinda friend! I think Severus's loyalty to Gabe is wonderful! Those two just make me grin all over the place! I can't wait to see what happens with Gabe and Fang! Oh my that should be fun! I'm sure Sev's going to have to learn to get on with Hagrid then! XD Wonderful update!! :D Author's Response: I'm glad you share my sense of humor. i thought it was funny too. No, and you weren't meant to like him, he was a nasty little idiot. Yeah, see, he's got the attitude even then. She reminds me of my older sister, who used to beat up boys when they teased my brother, who was younger than she was.
Yes, he will be getting along with both of them and you don't have to wait because the next chappie's up of this and a new story--a one-shot, called Object of Affection. It goes with one of my other series, but you don't have to read the previous stories to enjoy it, it's a humor piece.
But I really am disliking the Marauders all over again. I didn't care for them (that's putting it mildly) in the real books, and I can never really like them in fiction either. They're just so...snorty! And Peter, geez!! Hit the dog cage, yeah that's smart!! Dumb a**!!! But I hope Severus and Lily don't get into too much trouble being friends. I mean, Lucius is usually a strong personality to deal with and then there's the Marauders...But I LOVED that McGonagall liked Gabe! XD She would! Another fantastic chappie!! :D Author's Response: I know the one you're talking about! LOL! You're right and I never did either. I felt they were allowed to get away with murder (almost literally) and pass all their nasty doings off as mere pranks, but what they did to Severus wasn't a "prank" it was cruel and stupid. What the Weasley twins did at school were pranks, harmless and amusing practical jokes that they put on everyone, not just Slytherins or whatever, and they didn't hurt anyone or mock anyone. The Marauders kind of humor was evil and degrading and they were bullies. Yeah Pettigrew's a real little rat here, I always hated him the most. Lucius won't be in the story much, I think he was 5th year when Snape was 1st, so by the time the Marauders really get going, he'll have finished school. I always figured MCGonagall would love a collie, considering she's Scottish and they originated the breed there.
Thanks for reading and I've posted the next one!
Oh, the Marauders make me angry! Why would anyone lock an animal away in a hot barn like that without any water? They could have given poor Gabe water if all they had been trying to do was scare Severus. Idiots! Oh, I felt so bad for Gabe! I know of someone that did do something like that and their cat did die. Some people! But I really liked seen Hagrid and Slughorn in this! They were both great. OH! And McGonagall! I loved that she knew what was really going on. And I liked that Sev was suspicious of Remus being the mastermind. lol That's pretty funny. As for the conversations between Sev and his son...loved them! They are just so snide to each other, but in a playful way! And I could totally see Severus raising a son like that. Very very good! Liked it lots! Great update Snapegirl! I can't wait to read more of Severus's childhood and snark between him and his son! ;P Author's Response: Oh yeah, how'd I miss that one? Yeah, i knew people who did that too, only they left a dog in a parked car and it suffocated. Really stupid! Yes, they were. And I like making Minerva really wise to the Marauders tricks. Yes, Severus is pretty clever to think that. I'm glad you liked how Sev and his son got on, they really do love each other. You'll see more of them in my newest chapter, just posted it!
But I'm furious with the Marauders! Why on earth would they do something like that? Idiots! But I'm glad Gabe and Sev were able to help. Lily could have gotten in REAL trouble. But then I am confused as to why Lily ever got with James, but I'll be patient and wait for you to explain. It's obvious she loves Severus, but still...NO! I must wait! for that!! I liked Severus handling Harry. He was being a brat and I think Harry deserved it. But I can't wait until everything gets explained later! Great update!! :D Author's Response: Yeah they really are stupid! Some people think that everything they do is funny and don't even think about bad things happening. I promise you'll see what happens with those three later. Yes he was, and Severus knew it too. I have just updated again!
And Harry got beat up for no reason! It's hard for me to think of people really doing that, probably because I'm a small town girl and I'm pretty much related to everyone around here, but man! How terrible!! Poor Severus and HArry! I'm just...just horrified! I know it's not real but man! Things like this really do happen, and it's just terrible. Lucky Gabe came to save both Harry and Sev though. Other people might not have the friends to come for them. But now Severus is getting into the Dark Arts more. How sad...I hope he doesn't screw himself over too much...but I'll just have to wait I suppose. And Lily! Man, I want to know what happens now. Awesome chapter Snapegirl! Can't wait for the next! And happy (slightly late) Fourth of July to you too!! :D Author's Response: He really is, and I can sadly say that I knew someone just like that back when I was in high school. A really evil little wretch, he used to run with a gang of boys that used to stalk one of my good friends, and he actually did that to someone we knew. Some people are just disgusting like that and sick. They really do. Yeah, poor Harry. One of my friends moved to Newark and ended up getting jumped by a bunch of girls because they said she looked at them funny. They gave her a black eye and broke her nose, but luckily someone saw and called the cops. Otherwise it might have been much worse. And she was alone, just walking across the street, minding her own business. You're right, not everyone has friends around or a dog to defend them. Yeah, Sev's going to regret that decision. Happy fourth to you too! And the next chapter's up!
But how terrible for Severus! But the dark magic's having something over him I bet, that's partly why he's so moody. But I'm glad that he could help Remus in potions. I feel terrible for poor Remus, I always do. He didn't want to hurt anyone, but then his friends almost made him KILL someone. I'm with McGonagall, that was not an "accident" that was attempted murder!! It'd be the same as pushing someone into the path of a bus or something, but I'm sure the Marauders would have just blamed the bus. >_< But Lily still thinks she has to be with James. How silly of her. Honor is important and all, but still, James DID go back on his word. Even if it had been Sirius's idea, James KNEW and didn't stop it, but changed his mind. Stupid arse! Great update Snapegirl! Still loving the story! :D Author's Response: Yes, they sure are! Not that I would know . . .since I'm not married . . .snicker! Yes, you're right. The dark magic is slowly corrupting him. Yeah, he really hates being a werewolf and it was cruel for his friends to make him almost kill someone as a "prank"! Some prank! They almost killed their friend and Severus! Because if Severus had got bit, then the Ministry would have sentenced Remus to death. J and S were so irresponsible! I guess they never thought about that when they let Remus out of the Shack to roam around at night either! They were really playing with fire, because a werewolf's not a dog . .. it's a dangerous magical creature! You're right, they sure would have! "But sir, you see, . . .the bus wasn;t there one minute and the next it was . . .we didn't know it was going to run over Snape, sir . . ." Yes, well, there's another reason why Lily's with James right then. You'll learn more about that later though. Thanks for defending me on ff.net. I think you started a landslide, because there are more reviewers angry over what that prat posted also! Alyssana Brightheart's review was especially sharp and pointed, without being vulgar. And now . . .here's the next chapter! After nearly freezing to death outside his relative's home, little Harry is rescued by first a spirit and then a snarky git! The adventure isn't over yet though, as Snape soon realizes that his charge's problems aren't limited to just frostbite.
